Yeah for real. When I was a kid I always preferred Crash but I’m surprisingly enjoying Reignited much more than the N Sane Trilogy. These are truly great games.
they even used some of the original voices in the first one, sigh, this game was my childhood, lol, i played all of them on an emulator and now have to learn to use a console controller for the first time in 33 years
@@SorasShadow1 were are the grammatical errors it doesnt look any worse than you're sentence. you're an idiot too just because it has errors doesnt mean it wont be liked lol.
i played spyro 3 when i was 7 this game bring back so many memories ... but other than nostalgia ... i dont see how someone who had never played the originals might enjoy this... i think many who play this who havent played the originals might not get the charm and be turned off by it ...
@@mariolis I feel you I love this game so much i played it a bunch as a kid am 17 now i just got the game today and made it to the 2nd world with the civil war looking frogs and I didn't know I could get nostalgia from a frog showing me his bare ass when I burn his tent down
mariolis1000 I bought this game cause I thought it was colorful and gorgeous and ended up liking it a lot. I had never played the originals and I was surprised on how much I liked this trilogy
TBF I would've bought it even if the graphics were the same as the PS1 version that we played back in the late 90s! I do play it via emulation on the PC and it still holds up as a solid platformer.
You are wrong about the camera. In original trilogy the camera could be set to active or passive. You would turn it left or right by using R1/L1 or R2/L2. Pressing R1+L1 or R2+L2 would center the camera.
Its Spyro the Dragon; if you were a fan of the originals this is for you, or if you have children and want to play a charming and fun game with them. If you're new to the series, they are not particularly difficult platform games and feature some side games like gliding challenges and Skateboarding. There is also an option to play the original soundtrack if you prefer it. However keep in mind that only the 1st game is on disc while the other 2 require you to download them, so be aware for those with poor internet.
Been playing for several hours. Told my husband, before we bought it, that he would have to surrender the tv for a couple days. He didn't believe. Now he does 😂
Easily one of the best remakes I've ever played. True to the source material, and completely new feeling to it. Beautiful worlds, funny mob animations. Between RDR2, Spiderman, and this I wanted this first.
I played all three of The Originals. I just recently got the remasters. I'm calling in sick tomorrow at work just to stay home and play this game. That says a lot!
Guess I gotta get em. Haven't played the originals, I was a PS2 era kid, so I played Ratchet and Clank, instead. I look forward to buying the Reignited Trilogy, even if it's just to see where Insomniac started.
@@The_Thulhu i grew up on the ps2 era also but we were pretty poor and couldnt buy a lot of games, so I started playing on my dad's few ps1 games, often Spyro to collect everything, gave me something to do for a while with the few games I had. Year of the Dragon is the first game I've ever 100%
"The Original games didn't have camera controls" Me: *using L2 and R2 to move the camera left and right* ... did this guy even play the original games (And before you say "Oh but he said you could" I rewatched the video And I did not hear once him ever saying that)
I would've liked there to be a system where you can turn back and forth between new and old graphics like in Halo CEA and Halo 2 Anniversary. Though, I am so excited to revisit one of my first gaming experiences. There's so much nostalgia in this.
I think the problem with that is that Im pretty sure the old and new graphics use two different engines. Not sure how it would work if you tried that with two different engines. Halo has used the same engine for years, just modified and updated. I could be wrong though.
They actually lost the original source code. And since they're now using Unreal Engine, it would have been too hard and annoying to reproduce the original graphics
Good man! Screw all this "Before you buy" shite.. if I like the look of a game.. I'm gonna get it.. no youtuber is gonna change my mind.. and if you were an OG spyro player you are gonna get this remake anyway
The art style is amazing, but some part of me wishes they could do that Master Chief collection thing and actively change the graphics at will. Just to, y'know, see how far we've come. And for some nostalgia tripping.
I agree bub, especially when it came to the variety of enemy styles back in the day. Based on some of the stuff I read/watched though, they had to rebuild these games from the ground up so including that setting might've been too Herculean of a task... That said, at least there's concept art comparisons to the OG games to appreciate.
Its really hard to make since the halo games used the same enginge, just extremely updated. plus they lost the original source code so it wouldve been extremely hard to recreate. trust me, im an aspiring game developer
Toys for Bob had to create the reignited trilogy from the ground up. All of the original coding for the Spyro games was non existent in their creation process, therefore I do not think it possible to do such a thing. Would be dope though.
As a kid, I spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying the original trilogy. To have it come back and better than ever makes me positively giddy! It's like seeing an old friend, if that friend reappeared after SO MANY years, was still the same lovable guy and still kicked major ass.
Im sorry for you then i dont know why all these sites not warning people that not all the games on the disc and you have to download the rest.. i was excited im not buy this anymore all games should be on the the disc
@Joseph Mendoza wow this generation of gamers dont understand the value in exchange of money and buying a product... im shure u know that digital you dont own anything. There is a pro an con to evrrything. I respect your choice. Yud waver your right to own something you paid real hard earned cash for because its more convenient.. this is what these company want... in time to come they lose the license are they even giving u your money back.... think about that. If that was the case id have no issue believe me im for us the gamers these companies are robbing us blind an we pay them to do it and defend them is really sad.. im one guy but i just try to educate people on the matter and look at things differently. Gaming in the past wasnt perfect but compare to this generation i cant even call these things games anymore.. its a avenue for unlimited cash stream for these companies and were the whales n cattle as they call us.
Yeah I heard about the disc thing. Wasn't too much of a problem for me since I got it digitally. Spyro was my first game so I'm super excited. I'm actually doing a let's play 100% playthrough for this game if you guys are interested in watching on my channel. Check it out, and maybe even subscribe if you want to for more videos.
I think it's a real shame that people are getting upset about the games not all being on the disc. They're three HUGE games. I grew up with Spyro, and although I think it's a shame that all the content isn't all represented on the physical release, not for one second have I thought about not supporting the fantastic work Toys for Bob have done. I respect art over materialistic plastic cases and discs.
I find it funny because I think anyone who owns a ps4 should have an internet connection. And definitely fast enough to download the other two games before finishing the first.
"Pst! Want to know a secret? Use the triangle button when you want to zoom in and look around!" A shame it only comes up once and is often forgotten about...
Shit I'm 51 and my son got this for me as a Father's day gift....he remembers me playing it and beating all the games I've had a blast i play with the original music score
This was my childhood game! And they could not have done a better job bringing back to life. I’d say this is a personal game of the year contender for me, just out of pure nastalgia alone!
Not sure what you're talking about with the camera. I clearly remember being able to move the camera around as well as go into first person view on the original.
@@hunterofhunters1326 No you could always rotate the camera with the triggers, it would just recenter itself on Spyro if you left it alone for a few seconds. so yes you had more than enough camera control to work and be fun (Personally I kinda like using the triggers cause it means my right thumb is freed from the stick)
@@jacobschmidt3795 you can use the triggers in the new remastered spyro aswel, there's a control option in the menu that changes the flame breath and auto center button (L2-R2) to the old shcool camera controls for that retro feel(you can still use the right stick to control the camera in this mode) personally i use the new controls as the camera is one of the main reason to play this version also the auto center button is still pretty useful as the "active camera" option is still quite bad tbh, when ever i charge the camera struggles to keep up with me unless i hold that button, well that and the 60fps on pc. but none the old school camera is there for people who wanna use it
@@rustedyoda7339 Yeah I suppose the new camera would be a major reason to play the new one, for me though the games were really good without an analog camera so it feels kind of odd (however I actually used both control schemes at once when I played) idk about you but when I was simply running around I would stick with the triggers (unless I wanted to look up or down while running) actually being able to look up or down while moving is the main advantage I suppose lol. So I'm assuming you've played the originals right? Does it bother you how they messed up the swimming and flight physics? Like when you swim in the remake you drift all over the place and its all slippery, whereas in the original Spyro didn't drift around he pretty much stopped in place wherever you wanted (which just felt more fun and responsive) And the new flight isn't as bad, Spyro does drift just like the new water physics but at least he's flying in a wide open area for the most part so it doesn't feel as bad to control
@@jacobschmidt3795 the flying and swimming are worse, but i never did enjoy the flight levels anyways. and water isn't that bad. it's only slightly worse, the charge is what feels bad, i only use it when i need to break something open or need to go fast to get somewhere. other then that i just hold x on my controller to "jog" through the water. maybe it would be harder to move around at lower fps? idk i play pc and it's pretty smooth in the water, but water levels in spyro where never my favorite ether way and i'd usually stick away from water (other then to collect gems and go through if i need to) the thing that bugs me the most about the new spyro is the nerfed gliding. i wouldn't call it useless but it's really only used to make certain occasional jumps or fly across a level to get to a hidden spot, i also find myself having to use the "hover" move WAY more then the originals just to make simple jumps that should be able to make without. i know about the double jump in ripo's rage and i'm not comparing it to that, but even the regular jump -then glide is just pathetic tbh. when i played these games as a kid. that was literally my favorite part of spyro. being able to just kinda fly around the place. land and with a simple jump be back in the air for another 3-4 seconds, now you jump, glide about 8 feet then land, it's slower too i noticed.(slower then just "jogging" normally) so i end up rarely using it anymore, it's more of a gimmic now then a main mechanic. it just feels off you know?
Man i wish i could.. its like being between a rock and a hard place i love d spyro games..but buy it digital i dont own it. Buy it phyiscal i still dont own it only one game on the disc have to download the rest..so i work to hard for my cash wont pic this up..
@Masterffc hey thanks for replying but you just proved my point.. the whole game (red dead 2) is on the disc. I am buying a complete game. And you telling me a big huge open world 4k graphics can fit but not this trilogy cant?? They want us to get accustom to paying more for less... im look out for us the gamers bro.. i never told anyone not to buy it if u noticed... im just not doing it and i wanted it real bad.. but i work to hard for my money.. maybe other people dont but im not supporting this practice... it has compression techniques im shure if they really wanted to do....
beast killer gaming as long as you own your console you will own the game. I like physical copies as well, but games get updated and sold with bugs all the time. So a physical copy almost doesn’t matter anymore.
I think the thing that truly defines this as a great remake for me is how queasy I get playing Spyro. I had headaches as a kid playing Spyro, this has been the only title/series that gave me this effect. Even with some of the most brain splintering headaches I still powered through the game collecting all the orbs and eggs. Having them again now as an adult, it definitely brings me back to those days. 10/10, must buy for anyone who's ever played the PS1 titles. And if you're like me, you'll need a handful of painkillers to complete the game haha.
Oh man I can totally relate. I used to play Spyro: Enter the Dragon like all day when I was like 6 just to see how far I could get because I didn’t have a memory card, and twice I managed to make it to the 5th area only to not be able to complete it because it was bedtime. Another time I managed to beat Gnasty Gnorc, but fuck me was my head throbbing by then. Talk about a speed running I used to play through Enter the Dragon & Ripto’s Rage and run through each area as fast as possible to reach the next point I could never make it to because I didn’t have a memory card and it would always be bedtime. Needless to say I played through all three games a lot, but they just simply never got bored for me and eventually I managed to not only reach 100% (110% on YOTD), but I’ve done so about 3-4 times on each game. Hell I even still own my original copies.
Yep I agreed this is childhood memories I rather spyro than crash bandicoot anytime Although crash bandicoot is good in my days but the spyro has memories that I really love
I thought it was only me! So what exactly was doing this to us? There was always that time limit I had where i would get on spyros and speed as much as I could and enjoy it before the headaches inevitably came knocking. Then I would wait for the headache then get back on and repeat. It was so painful. . .and so fun.
@@RokushoTheRavager Oh man, that really takes me back. I remember it was grueling to have to watch the opening scenes over and over again, don't know why it took so long to finally have a memory card (or know of it's existence) but thank whoever it was that got me one. So many games on repeat after repeat xD. Good times.
I wouldn't say it's "Fair To Forget" when you are giving a review about a remaster. He spent like 5 mins talking about a feature that was in the original games... lmfao
I hate everyone that praises the new right stick camera controls... they clearly don't play the game very well if they have no issues with taking their thumb off the face buttons...
@@7EEVEE It's nice being able to look up and down and at variable turn rates. And it's Spyro. You can easily play the game well while dropping off the face buttons occasionally.
@@EternalDahaka it is extremely inconvenient to glide and try to turn the camera with the right stick. I have died/gotten hurt in places I have never died before. And there isn't much need to look up other than to see all of the level design that isn't at Spyro's eye level.
@@deadluke13 Why would you need to change the camera while gliding? It follows right behind you. There's always the alternate control scheme if you prefer it, but I don't think I've really messed with the camera for any glide. And yeah, looking up and down isn't required, just a nice addition.
I just finished watching this whole video and I've already forgotten almost everything that was said except for: - Mario World on the N64 - You can't control the camera on the PS1 versions (which is just plain wrong by the way) - The game looks good and the level design is good Literally nothing else of note was actually said in the video. You just waffled on about nothing important or relevant to this game. You didn't talk about how only one game is on disc, or how the game controls in comparison to the originals, or how the remastered soundtrack sounds. You've provided barely any information that would help someone decide on whether or not to make the purchase.
Both the original and new soundtracks are available, at any time you can switch the soundtracks in the options menu, the game controls very well, better than the originals honestly, especially Spyro 1
Usually like this channel for the in-depth and well thought-out reviews. This one, however, is rambling and uninformative. Little structure and goes off topic, often talking about the Spyro series as a whole rather than this remake.
I loved Spyro and I am sure I will love the remake. I like that the controls and puzzles are not that complex. It is just challenging enough not to be boring but also nice in a way that it comforting just milling around this world as Spyro.
The original PS1 didn't have L/R 2, you had to buy the dual shock to be able to change it. Playing on a standard controller it didn't. Edit:never mind I'm thinking of L/R 3
@@ironpro7217 The original PS1 controller didn't have analog sticks but did have L1/2 and R1/2 as shoulder buttons, those were used to move the camera left and right. Even in the remaster there's an option to utilize that control scheme.
I played this game when I was young. it was my most favorite series and spyro was by far my most favorite game character of all time. getting the reignited trilogy really allowed me to remember the original games as they were and just looking back, this game stays true to the original and the design of spyro is almost the exact same. the design for the dragons in the first game really works well to be honest compared to the original game and the personality the game devs put into them tops it off. honestly, I believe that some things could have been different but that isn't such a big deal with me. its nice to see people enjoying this immortal classic. I just really hope that this game does not get forgotten in the future. I will NEVER throw out my copy of the reignited trilogy and my memories of playing the original games will stay with me forever.
This is a really weak Before You Buy. I don't know if you're ill or hungover - but holy shit talk about the GAME. You could have talked about the camera for 15 seconds and got it done. You could have talked about level design in 15 seconds and moved on. But its 75% of your thoughts? I wanna know how this game FEELS. I wanna know how the new soundtrack SOUNDS. I wanna know if this is a good remake. I dont want an explanation on what the Spyro games 'are'.
Aight. I'll bite. Spyro himself feels lifelike. Doesn't feel like a tank like the ps1 version. Take that as you will. The sound tracks some are shit but some are really good as far as the remakes. You can swap the soundtracks in the sound menu to the original. Dynamic sound, I don't like it. It's cool, yeah and I appreciate it being in there but you can turn that off. Voices are good albeit corny at times. But hey, it's worth the money.
I loved this game as a kid. It's really exciting to see the dragon's rendered with such detail. I can't wait to share this experience with my own children.
When this was first announced, I was more excited for this trilogy more than the crash bandicoot trilogy. And I love crash but Spyro is a big part of my childhood
As a kid playing these on PS1, this is exactly what I pictured these games looking like. It is great seeing them again now, and I remember these levels like clockwork.
When I was a kid, my second console ever was a PS1. My first game on the PS1 was Spyro: Year of the Dragon. I played that game to death. There came a time when it never left my ps1. For almost a year. I just couldn’t stop. I’d beat it... then get a big itch to go back to sunrise spring. So I figured why not start a new game? Nothing left in that file. ... I wasn’t the brightest kid sometimes. But yeah, I never played Spyro 1 or 2. Then I saw the reignited trilogy and almost lost my shit. Reliving a massive nostalgia trip with updated graphics and controls, and also finally being able to play 1 and 2? Fuck yeah! Spyro 3 was a big part of my childhood. I’m glad I get to go through it again at 25 years old.
I had a ps1 without a memory card so always replayed year of the dragon over and over it got to a point where I would finish the whole game in one sitting or I'd pause the game overnight I loved my childhood 😂
Played the first two of the reboot so far and they are as amazing as i thought. Though you can get through pretty fast if you already played them as a child (or sometime else). Still very glad i purchased the game
I remember playing this game when I was a really young kid. The monsters scared the crap outta me, so I always stayed in that one skating level. I don't think I ever wanted to move past that stage. lol I'm an adult now, so I want to properly finish these games.
i just got in on sale for like 18 bucks. i remember my old neighbor got really into these games and i didnt have a playstation. 24 years later and now I get to try.
Who else has been obsessed with spyro's skybox design since day one? People dont seem to appreciate the beauty and unique hand crafted design of each skybox.
I am so happy with this remake -- I cannot stop smiling as I play it! So much love went into this to make it a better version of the original. Good job Toys for Bob!
If you pressed L2 or R2 on the original games, you could move the camera left or right...and if you held triangle you went into an over the shoulder view, where you could look around how you wanted. Don't give out false/misguided info Falcon.
these games where the highlight of my childhood. and to see them remade with such pinpoint precision just fills me with nostalgia. ill be honest, the cut scenes feel kind of rushed and cringey at times, but otherwise the reignited trilogy looks great!
Seriously? Holy shit. More reason for me to get the games. I have zero platties. But no Platinum is easy, there's just easier ones. I'll get the trilogy and try to get the platinum(s) then
Spyro was the first game I ever played on PS2 and this remaster hits all the right nostalgic notes. Not super hard, but if you try to 100% all the games it turns into a pretty hearty feat that remains fun throughout your play through.
That's good news for me lol the insane trilogy controls were just a bit too frustrating for me and because of that, I feel like I kinda got tired of it quicker than I should have.
@zenoe1562 and @Tyson Muir it seems like were forgetting two others.. 1. Escorting the alchemist in fracture hills and 2. protecting the cave men on skelos badlands.. yes the ones you two still apply but mine.. urrrgh I got so pissed off at my two
We not gonna mention that Spyro 1 is on the disc, but Spyro 2 & 3 must be downloaded to your hard drive? Kind of a big deal for anyone who has poor/no internet connection.
@@SilverLeopard00 No, the games were cutting it short with the release date concerning the fact that 2 has a major boss glitch and 3's presentation is lacking and much buggier.
I’m super into hard and challenging games that really test your skill and strategising ability. That being said, spending hours trying to figure out how to pull off a Knasty Knorc on the skateboard and beating the hell out of those twin dragons in the ninja level was the peak of my childhood gaming experience. I’m definitely picking this up 100%
Getting it for my birthday.... which is in 2 weeks... I have to deal with that every year. Next awesome game comes out near the holidays and i cant touch the marketplace until Dec26th.. so if i get the game cool i own it and can start playing. but i'm already a month behind everyone else. OR i don't get it so I then buy it for myself and still get to enjoy it a month later. Wife doesn't like it when i buy every game i want so i get this like 3 out of 12 month span i'm not aloud to buy games.... life
I wouldn’t say this has a good sense of direction. Actually I don’t think it has one at all. But I do believe that this is exactly the point. It was a deliberate choice. While Crash is all about conquering obstacles on a straight line, this is all about the exploration. If I were to make a comparison, Crash would be an obstacle course and Spyro would be a playground. It’s actually genius if you think about it. EDIT: The fact that these games aren’t complex is actually one of the best things about them. Complex games are great and all but sometimes you just want something simple, intuitive and fun. I can’t tell you how sick I am of games that get more and more complicated or skill trees or bayonetta type games. Sometimes you want to pick up a game and just play a few of the post story challenges, especially if you didn’t complete them before but you can’t cause you’re rusty and you have to spend time learning the game again which is not what you wanted in the first place. For example you boot up Devil May Cry 4 and go into the bloody palace but you don’t remember the combos. Or you want to play some combat challenges in Arkham City but you’re used to the control scheme of Arkham Knight, you don’t remember the gadgets shortcuts and you just don’t have that rhythm that you used to have. Point is it’s a REALLY nice change of pace. It’s also more accessible. Maybe even to people that are new to video games.
I'm going to buy it it april 2019. Just found out about. One of the very first games I played and just watching this video is a nostalgia rush of great memories!
The original 3 Spyro games are among my favorite video games ever created and when i found out they were creating remakes of the games i was beyond excited, saying that i didn't actually buy Reignited on release! Today i finally paid for the game and get to play it. The little kid inside me right now is actually buzzing to finally get to collect the talismans in Spyro 2! wish me luck :)
I remember sitting at home when I was a little kid on rainy days playing Spyro with my mom right next to me. Now decades later being able to play Spyro again with such a gorgeous look makes my inner child so happy. Thank you to insomniac and to Toys for Bob for making me smile.
Now I only need Medievil Remake and a Looney Tunes trilogy Remastered (Bugs Bunny: Lista un Time, Bugs Bunny and Taz and Sheep Raider) and I can be happy.
The fact that someone else knows about Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time give this a like from me. Such a great game, sadly I never hear anyone so much as mention it when they talk about old games of yesteryear.
My 3 year old loves “playing” this with me, this is our game we do together, she has one remote and I have the other. It’s fun to play a safe kid game.
on sale on the switch right now (for me the only decent game i would want on a switch) LOVED spyro as a kid need to relive the games that started it all for me
Same, at least for the PS1. Sonic was my original mascot (1-3, and knuckles). Then on PS1 it was Spyro. Then on PS2 it was no one really, just the GTA games in general.
I have it, it's definitely fun and the bright and colorful worlds will keep you entertained for awhile. If you were playing all day I could see it getting a little boring for some people but I'd say it's definitely worth the buy.
I am afraid that whenever you mentioned not being able to move the camera in the original games, you were wrong. L2 and R2 are used to move the camera on the original games. This is also the case if you use the retro control scheme on the reignited trilogy. If you played the original games without moving the camera then you wouldn't get very far. So have you even played the original games ?
fire blaze games Yep this might've been an oversight or just plain lack of enthusiasm for making this video. In Town Square from the original, the first dragon you free will tell you without saying camera that you can use the shoulder buttons to get a good look around the level: "Welcome to Town Square, Spyro. Begin exploring by heading to that area with the bulls, use the L2 and R2 buttons to get a good look" - original message Nice spot, I did use the retro control scheme too to see what that was. Another question of something I don't get: why in the reignited control scheme does R2 make Spyro flame? Seems redundant, of course everyone who bought the originals will use the circle button to flame and that is flame too. I guess they wanted every button to do something, I dunno.
I played all of the older versions of the Spyro games, and my favorite Spyro game is still Spyro: A New Beginning. Soooo excited to play this one when I get it for Christmas!
In my opinion this remastered game has a couple of flaws. The framerate for instance is low, there is a massive input lag and anti-aliasing is not present at all. What I do like about this game is the new artstyle and that they kept the same game mechanics
Spyro was my first PS1 game. It was actually my first full fledged game that wasn't 16 bit. To see it all redone and made so gorgeously makes it a definite buy for me. To play it on my PS4 now feels like it has all come full circle.
All three of the original Spyro games were my favorites when I was little, so I have nostalgia goggles strapped on pretty tight when it comes to this game. I do have to say that it is just the way I remember, but even better! I’ve enjoyed every minute of it so far (except for maybe the flight levels; those still suck lol). Totally agree about the camera thing. I tried playing my original Spyro games and had to stop because the camera controls were just insufferable to me. Haha.
The fact you didn't mention that you need internet connection to actually play 2 & 3 is really disappointing. You didn't even talk about how the game looks or feels, just what type of game Spyro is.
I totally disagree with your points about the camera. Firstly, during GC and PS2 era the second analog stick very quickly cemented itself as camera stick. Just look at Super Mario Sunshine, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter and so many others that were released way before RE4. And well, RE4 was over-the-shoulder third-person shooter, so it's not like they needed a way to control the camera, it was always in same place. Secondly, Spyro games were designed around player not being able to control the camera, not being able to do that really isn't that big of a deal, kinda like for longest time Zelda games were designed around player not being able to jump freely.
I never played the original games, but I bought the Reignited Trilogy after having heard so many great things about it. Haven't completed the first game yet in the trilogy, but it's simply wonderful and very charming. It's a relaxing platformer that's absolutely stunning to look at. I can't help 100 percenting every level here because it's just so damn enjoyable to explore the place and find that last batch of gems that you've probably missed. Several levels are easy to complete 100% but others certainly offer more of a challenge. It's one of those games that is perfect to play for a couple of hours or three after a long day. The enemies and platforming don't prove much of a challenge so far (still only playing the first game - it may change) but it's extremely enjoyable charging, burning and gliding your way through these levels. This is definitely worth the asking price which is well below a full priced game. Gem of a game this one.
This game is legit dope af. honestly its unbelievable how good and true to the originals it is.
_AdiGames_ : have you purchased?
@@cmm9360 ahh yeah baby as soon as it was announced. i love spyro one if the very first games i have played on the playstation.

they even used some of the original voices in the first one, sigh, this game was my childhood, lol, i played all of them on an emulator and now have to learn to use a console controller for the first time in 33 years

I would've liked there to be a system where you can turn back and forth between new and old graphics like in Halo CEA and Halo 2 Anniversary. Though, I am so excited to revisit one of my first gaming experiences. There's so much nostalgia in this.
That's what I wanted! I was tweeting TOB so much for this but I know it would've taken them a while to do that
I think the problem with that is that Im pretty sure the old and new graphics use two different engines. Not sure how it would work if you tried that with two different engines.
Halo has used the same engine for years, just modified and updated. I could be wrong though.
I was thinking the same thing!
They actually lost the original source code.

That was more like a graphics upgrade with added in high quality cutscenes though. This is much more of an overhaul so it can't really be done here.
Its really hard to make since the halo games used the same enginge, just extremely updated. plus they lost the original source code so it wouldve been extremely hard to recreate. trust me, im an aspiring game developer
I honestly think the original spyro 1s art style is better ( I prefer spyro 2 and 3 HD though)

Not sure what you're talking about with the camera. I clearly remember being able to move the camera around as well as go into first person view on the original.
i think it depends on if you played with the original ps1 controller (without analog sticks) or the dualshock 1 (with analog sticks)
i think, not sure

Yep I agreed this is childhood memories I rather spyro than crash bandicoot anytime
Although crash bandicoot is good in my days but the spyro has memories that I really love
A buy for anyone who hasn't played it as well.

Hate to break it to you chief, but the original spyro games had L2 R2 camera control. Granted it was slow and a bit annoying, but it was there.

Slow? Dude you could change between passive and active camera mode. Zoe reminds you this at the start of both spyro 2 and 3.
Didn't he say that in the video?
The hell are you talking about? The shoulder buttons moved the camera! And it made sense, because your right thumb is on jump! What are you smoking?
I hate everyone that praises the new right stick camera controls... they clearly don't play the game very well if they have no issues with taking their thumb off the face buttons...

It's nice being able to look up and down and at variable turn rates.

@@deadluke13
Why would you need to change the camera while gliding? It follows right behind you. There's always the alternate control scheme if you prefer it, but I don't think I've really messed with the camera for any glide.
And yeah, looking up and down isn't required, just a nice addition.
I just finished watching this whole video and I've already forgotten almost everything that was said except for:
- Mario World on the N64
- You can't control the camera on the PS1 versions (which is just plain wrong by the way)
- The game looks good and the level design is good
Literally nothing else of note was actually said in the video.

I wanna know if this is a good remake. I dont want an explanation on what the Spyro games 'are'.
It really makes you FEEL like Spyro the Dragon.
Aight.

@@SilverLeopard00 No, the games were cutting it short with the release date concerning the fact that 2 has a major boss glitch and 3's presentation is lacking and much buggier.
Just That One Guy Aww, that’s upsetting.
Unless spyro 2 and 3 fit in 6gb worth of an update....
36gb is on the disc, depending on platform. Im using Xbox as reference.
@@justthatoneguy737 I thought they pushed the date back so they could fix those? I'll probably wait till they release the full physical copy
“Particularly” is your word huh 😂😂😂
I’m super into hard and challenging games that really test your skill and strategising ability. That being said, spending hours trying to figure out how to pull off a Knasty Knorc on the skateboard and beating the hell out of those twin dragons in the ninja level was the peak of my childhood gaming experience.
I’m definitely picking this up 100%
What a year. Kids now gaming and I'm so excited to get them both these and Crash.
Talk about living vicariously.
im definitely getting this for Christmas
Getting it for my birthday.... which is in 2 weeks... I have to deal with that every year. Next awesome game comes out near the holidays and i cant touch the marketplace until Dec26th.. so if i get the game cool i own it and can start playing. but i'm already a month behind everyone else. OR i don't get it so I then buy it for myself and still get to enjoy it a month later. Wife doesn't like it when i buy every game i want so i get this like 3 out of 12 month span i'm not aloud to buy games.... life
Chick3n Nuggg3ts damn life indeed
Same
@@chick3nnuggg3ts Hope you enjoy Spyro remark
1:33 I'm sorry but did you just say MARIO WORLD?
Before you buy Spyro just know that you're gonna love the game.
Now I only need Medievil Remake and a Looney Tunes trilogy Remastered (Bugs Bunny: Lista un Time, Bugs Bunny and Taz and Sheep Raider) and I can be happy.
Medievil remake is already coming
Is it really? So glad to hear it, loved those games as a kid
@@AC-ze1nh yeah lol Google
The fact that someone else knows about Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time give this a like from me. Such a great game, sadly I never hear anyone so much as mention it when they talk about old games of yesteryear.
Oh man I loved Sheep raider. Remember as a kid it was challenging for me. As well the game was rarely ever in stock at Blockbuster.
My 3 year old loves “playing” this with me, this is our game we do together, she has one remote and I have the other. It’s fun to play a safe kid game.
on sale on the switch right now (for me the only decent game i would want on a switch) LOVED spyro as a kid need to relive the games that started it all for me
Spyro for me is what crash was for others my gaming mascot is spyro
I love Both Crash and Spyro
@@royal1015 cool I never got to play much crash except unleashed that's the weird monster one where he has a tattoo right?
@@marvinthearson5227Yeah they give Crash edgy redesign , and Spyro in skylanders is abomination .
Same, at least for the PS1. Sonic was my original mascot (1-3, and knuckles). Then on PS1 it was Spyro. Then on PS2 it was no one really, just the GTA games in general.
Bruh I loved this before but now idk what do u guys think 🤔
Get it bro
It's still amazing got it both on xbox and PS4
@@piolo1023 isnt it a PS exclusive??
Topstar no
I have it, it's definitely fun and the bright and colorful worlds will keep you entertained for awhile.
But the original ps1 controller doesn't have L/R 2. You had to buy a dualshock to be abke to move the camera.
Edit: I'm thinking of L/R 3
fire blaze games Yep this might've been an oversight or just plain lack of enthusiasm for making this video. In Town Square from the original, the first dragon you free will tell you without saying camera that you can use the shoulder buttons to get a good look around the level:
"Welcome to Town Square, Spyro. Begin exploring by heading to that area with the bulls, use the L2 and R2 buttons to get a good look" - original message
Nice spot, I did use the retro control scheme too to see what that was.
Legend of Spyro series is still my most treasured spyro games even thought they span 3 different consoles
I liked the simplicity of this game. Such a breath of fresh air from more modern games.
In my opinion this remastered game has a couple of flaws. The framerate for instance is low, there is a massive input lag and anti-aliasing is not present at all. What I do like about this game is the new artstyle and that they kept the same game mechanics
At last some honesty in this place all these youtubers should follow your example and stop sucking up an praising these companies asses..
I never had any problems with lag or frame rate issues yet.
COOLMCDEN 219 I think it is locked.
@@beastkillergaming374 "These youtubers didn't have the same opinion as me so now I'm going to cry and say they're licking ass"...............Ok dude.
Never noticed input lag and I've only had frame drop once in spyro 2
would this be good for my 8 year old niece?
ofc
As someone who also has niece around 12, I would say this is definitely one thing she would enjoy playing.
Haha.
I need a Conker's Bad Fur Day remake
they made one 12 years ago
They made one and it sucked because they censored it
Censored remakes never count.
Did he just say Mario world for N64?
Yeah I heard that too
The fact you didn't mention that you need internet connection to actually play 2 & 3 is really disappointing. You didn't even talk about how the game looks or feels, just what type of game Spyro is.
The hell are you on about? I'm playing these games RIGHT NOW and there's nothing about internet connection. And yes, I'm playing the disc version.
This game taught me that the words, "Simple," "No threat," and "Ugly" are very powerful.
Is skateboarding still a thing?
Your boi Reptar yes
They kept all the same levels from the original games so yes you have to do the mini skateboarding game
Blue Spartan no I’m cereal
Notification gang boys
I played through both the Spyro and Ratchet and Clank trilogies probably 5 times each growing up. Insomniac games were my guys during my childhood.
Spyro year of the dragon was the first 3D video game I ever played as a child. Super happy to see they’ve re mastered it
