    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS - SUPER HELPFUL! Great to have everything in one place - a lot of the information is out there but you really have to search and it's not all in one place like this. Great confirmation of what took me months to figure out on my own.

    Amazing content!! This was the only video I found with real information about their tax system. I'm planning to move to Spain soon so I will double check everything about taxes to make a final decision!!!

    I'm currently preparing for my DNV move, this is one of the most comprehensive and helpful tax video that I saw. Thank you, Christina!

    Thank you so much Christina -very informative video!! I'm on the process of relocating to Barcelona from Australia at the moment to work for a start-up there as a skilled immigrant. Every official looking document suggests that I can take advantage of the Beckham Law. You mention UK specific employees, but I reckon that's for people doing remote work in Spain for a UK employer? Would you know under my circumstances, if I'd be able to take advantage of the Beckham Law?

    If you are self employed American and have clients who are willing to pay your LLC, this is a way to access more of those US write offs while living in Spain because you will be paid through the LLC.
    I’ve been living here over a year as a digital nomad, and have found that creating an LLC, for my freelancing business has been the most optimized option.

      Can you share more about your process for this? How you pay yourself, pay your Spain / U.S. taxes, etc?

    Are remote employees eligible for Beckham's law ?

  • @myriad-lives

    But :) a lot of people say there's a special tax regime for Digital Nomads at 24%. I mean not the Beckham Law, but special tax rate for Digital Nomad Visa holders specifically. Am I making that up? :)

    Great content. Wanted to add that if USA and earning over FEIE limit, as far as I am aware you still are covered on your US income taxes by Foreign Tax Credit for the tax paid in Spain.... suggest to look into that as I am not an expert.

      There is an exemption you can apply for. But if you have assets in the US it’s a little more complicated!

    Muchísimas gracias! Very helpful as one who began his nomad taxes this year. You've provided details that I have yet to figure out. Not sure how you do it! A couple things I'm still trying to figure out: 1. Do you use a tax gestor lawyer or both in Spain? Any recommendations? 2. Do you still (have to) pay into US Social Security? Best of luck! Hopefully year 2 is affordable for the both of us. Life is tranqui here :)

    That’s a great video, thanks for the useful content.
    I have a somewhat specific question you may be able to help me with. Once your visa is approved and you move to Spain, would it be OK to make less than €2,500 in certain months while in Spain, or would that constitute a break of the visa conditions?

    Thanks for this! I'm just paying my first quarterly bill now. I would love to know more about any expenses you deduct. Also if you and your partner file together at the end of the year, does it lower your tax burden? Can you opt out of the social security / healthcare system after year 1? Lastly, who do you use to file quarterly?

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I deduct all my platforms I pay for monthly to run my business as well as marketing costs, services I pay for, etc! I am not 100% sure on the joint vs single filing as I file on my own. As for SS, you can't opt out after year 1, its required while being a tax resident in Spain. I use Expat Advisers for my taxes!

    Thank you very much for explaining all this! How does it work for those of us who use LLCs and work as contractors? I understand that Spain and the United States have an agreement to avoid double taxation

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As the contractor you’d pay your taxes in Spain as you applied here “self employed”

    Awesome video. Thank you so much for the honesty and the research! It’s quite intimidating as a freelancer. Would you say it’s still worth it to move here even with the high tax rates? Like does the cost of living offset it?

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Compared to the US, it is definitely a lot less for cost of living. I’m so much happier and feel like I have the ability to do so much more socially here. I’m on my first year so I have the €80 / month discount for social security. After year 2 I will definitely evaluate more on comparing the costs!

    Hi does a Digital Nomad need a fixed address or you could live in a motorhome for example?
    Does any of these taxes cease after you earn citizenship?

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To get your residency card after your approval, you need to register your address so you need to have a long term place. The taxes remain the same on the visa as it does for citizens

    Thanks this is so helpful! Does it matter when you register as an autonomo or does it only matter when you began earning income from within Spain? In other words, is there any benefit to delaying when you register a little bit? Or will you simply pay SS and tax from the moment you started earning in Spain anyway?
    Also, do you need to have your TIE card in hand before you can register as autonomo? Or can you do the two processes at the same time?

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need your TIE to register and you must register within 90 days of getting your TIE to avoid any penalties

    Hi! I have recently talked to a Spanish law firm that process nomas worker visas and I talked to their accountant and they confirmed any nomas worker with such visa, a long as they earn over 60k yearly, are indeed eligible to apply for the Beckham law. I’m confused. I did not hear it from a video, Iwas told by a Spanish accountant especialized in immigration.

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! if you are an employee, you MAY be eligible but most people don't qualify as there are more stipulations than just being on the digital nomad visa. If you are self employed you are 100% not eligible for the beckham law as anyone registered as autonomo in spain can not. Im not sure if he was giving you a blanket statement, but be really careful because most say "yes nomads can get it" when in reality majority cant and people find out after they get their visa approved

  • @beyondphotographs1534
    @beyondphotographs1534 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Curious. What happens if you get the visa and then one or two months you have no work and rely on savings. Does your visa get revoked? Like what if you lose your biggest client

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think most times you will be okay as long as you can average out the monthly income requirement for the year if they pull your visa to check. I think most people who are being checked, is because they didnt register and/or didn't pay their quarterly taxes as required

    • @christinaadavis
      @christinaadavis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No that is only what you pay quarterly and then you pay the remaining percent at the end of the year
