Hi! Yes there are several GIS owners who carry it on the roof rack, and some on smaller cars. My GIS unfortunately is too heavy with all the mods and the Birch plywood to do this.
@@TheBoatRambler Teo, I got your link from Michael's blog page, which in turn came from reddit. Having said that, Mr Storer is in our Filipino group as well.
Thanks Thomas. It's a shame that the YT codec didn't do such a good job on upload. Anything below 1440p or 60fps just gets downgraded too much. I have started uploadind 1440p@60fps since.
Thanks David! I have a "sacrificial" thin wooden trim glued along the bow it's slightly longer/lower (maybe 3mm) than the bottom panel and rounded off. It wont take a serious hit but it's seams to at least prevent some damage to the plywood there. Some of the guys have fiber glassed that area. The GIS is able to keep the same heading as all the latin sail boats around here. If I point higher than it loses speed and it's not worth it due to the tides strength around here.
Hi Alistair, The downhaul allows to adjust the luff tension and depending on how far back you place it in relation to the mast it will also serve as a sort of boom vang.
Thank you! Look for "parque Gaio Rosario, Portugal" that's where my boat is, Just southeast of Lisbon. I sail all of the Tejo(Tagus) river and estuary. 😉
Hi Charles! No the GIS like most lightweight sailing dinghies/skiffs does not have ballast other than rail ballast (and that will depend on how much you eat!) 😁 Some ppl put jerrycans with water either side of the centercase when sailing solo. Much better than steel as once you capsize it wont sink your boat! 😉
Hi Sailor, I wish for you to go fast and have a fast boat! Look at 4:29 on video. Your sail at the foot does not have the best shape!!! If completely unrolled, not reefed, main sail should be tighter next to mast. Across the boom sail should be tighter. Tight sail to give flat wing shape in heavier wind. More control more speed. Sail more Cupped in light wind to catch more wind to go faster. God Bless Have a great sail!
Hi Thomas!! You are absolutely correct, there were a lot of small adjustments to be made to my setup back there! And then some!! That was the first time I could compare my setup to another, live. And a good thing Pedro has had his GIS for over two years so he could show me a thing or two!! Starting with the halyard which has since been replaced by Spectra(no stretch) and the boom and yard pulled back a bit. Still have a lot to learn about setting and sailing the GIS. But I have time and I like to experiment.... 😁
We appreciate you taking the time to put these videos together. Goats are really quick. Thx Dave from Tauranga New Zealand
Hi Dave!
Yes they are, and there is still more speed in store if more "rail ballast" is used!! 😄
I am impressed with the speed of these boats
Hey Tomaz!
I still haven't sailed the GIS in strong wind with a second person on board...it should go even faster!
Wow, very cool, amazed with the acceleration. Thanks for sharing another great vlog.
Hi Fred!
They do fly, and there is still a lot of power to harness if there a second crew!
Fantastic to see the GIS fits on top of an SUV.

Great video with two fantastic, very fast and light sailboats! Thank you!
Hi Robert!
We love our goats!! 😉
@@TheBoatRambler I love my one also! :)
Wowser. So much fun.
Congratulation! Nice skiffs, great sailors!!
Thanks a bunch! 😄
Oh thats just EPIC!
Thank you! It's certainly a day to remember! 😉
You’re really romping along there. Great video. Thanks for posting
Thanks Col! It's easy when it's fun!! 😉
man, those GIS can scoot!!! looks like near perfect conditions.
Hey Jenkins!
Yes if it was just a bit less gusty we could have sailed full sail, and that would have been perfect!
😉
Such nice footage, good music selection 👌
Thank you George!
Really nice videos to look at. Exciting but calming at the same time.
Thank you John! 🙂
You have inspired me to build a GIS. Love watching your vids but would rather hear wind and waves rather than music.
Hi Jampa!
I am so happy you chose to build a boat!! and the GIS is awesome!
Have fun! 😉
Great video 👍
Thanks.
Thanks for watching VISTLER!
Beautiful to watch. She sails so well.
Hey Joseph!
A very elegant boat indeed! 😁
Que buena vida se llevan!,.Los felicito,el mejor lugar también!,
Gracias Jose! 😉
Fantastic video Teo! And kudos to Pedro too!
Thanks Enrico!
I hope I can have some sailing adventures like the ones you show on your videos this season! 😉
Wow. Those skiffs sure move fast. Has me thinking about a lug sail now.
They sure do! And if you liked this video have a look at this week's video "BREEZY!!" to see us sailing even faster! 😁

Awesome footage
Thanks! And it was really fun getting it too!😉🙃
I'm still in love with Mirror dinghies but if I was younger I might become adulterous. Such simple fun.
Se nota el gen marinero de los portugueses, bonita regata, el barco verde pesa menos y como corre 😮
Bravo !!!
Thank you! 😉
Stunning, Teo!
Many thanks Ray!
Great video and soundtrack, really seems to capture the fun. Thanks for such an enjoyable 14 minutes!! Where in Portugal??
Thank You!
We sail the Tejo estuary just SE from Lisbon. 😉
Looks like a good hull for a trimaran too.
Don't know about that! I have zero experience with multihulls so far! 😅
@@TheBoatRambler "so far" ;-)

you do Mik proud
Thanks John!
Mik has all the right to be proud, the GIS is an awesome boat!
Fantastic sailing? Do you have any protection for that fine-pointed bow in case you hit something on landing? How close-winded is that balanced lug?
Thanks David!

Good question.
Gosh, they really accelerate in those light winds!
Is that an adjustable downhaul on the boom, to enable dynamic adjustment of the sail tension?
Hi Alistair,
The downhaul allows to adjust the luff tension and depending on how far back you place it in relation to the mast it will also serve as a sort of boom vang.
I enjoy your videos! Where do you sail exatly? I wouldlike to find it on G. earth. :-)
Thank you!

Wow Fantastic video Teo! Bravo Where do I buy the drawings?
Hi,
You can get the plans at StorerBoatPlans 😉
GIS design has been around for awhile. There was another youtuber who raced them.
I think the GIS has been around for 25 years! 🤔
I didn't see any ballast in the keel, does the boat have/need any?

How much does your boat weight and how tall is the mast?
My modified GIS weights 120kg rigged and the mast is around 4.5m.
A standard GIS weights 75 fully rigged.
@@TheBoatRambler and how long is your GIS?
@@hliashlias4679 4.75m x 1.5m

Why doesn't Pedro put his daggerboard fully down?
