Hi Luke, the bitter taste from your first bite could probably be from stomach cavity part of the Ikan Belais (Rabbit Fish). Personally, I'd skip eating this part of this particular fish. Anyway, I'm glad you covered the Sim Sim Food Court - It's one of my favourite spot to eat in Sandakan too.
Proboscis monkeys are really uncommon, sun bears are so cute, thank you Luke for letting me know them! The sambal sauce on grilled fish should be the soul of the food and it looks delicious! That plate of noodles is Hong Kong-style fry instant noodles, a classic food in Hong Kong restaurants! You did a really great job, thanks a lot for sharing!👍😄👏
Malaysia has the best spicy food there. I really love the taste of the grilled fish. It mixed with Sambal which is so spicy but not that spicy. I love malaysian food! Truly asia!
Those animals look so cool, what a wonderful experience 😍 I’d be so scared of the monkeys though, I’ve heard some wild stores about them. Awesome video Luke

The fact The Empire Seafood Restaurant is open by my babysitter's daughter is Funny that you eat at the place. Also when I eat there with my family, I always get a discount😂
Fun fact locals call the proboscis monkey “orang belanda”, which literally means dutch people. Its said that the name came about because the nose of the monkey and its color has some resemblance to dutch colonists of that time.
What a fantastic video! I love all the wildlife, it makes Borneo so unique. I think you nailed it when you said that seafood place seemed Cantonese. Those crab balls are my favorite dim sum dish from when we lived in Shenzhen. My mouth was watering watching your video.
This has always been my favourite YT channel for food vlogs, I can't say that I have watched every video but I have watched a lot of them throughout the years, I don't even like seafood but oh boy you never fail to get me hungry. I hope you'll stay around for quite some time more cause I can't even watch other food vloggers, they can be good but they're never Chopstick Travel good.

Luke, top-notch video. Loving your indigenous food, animals, and people combination - genius - so authentic and so you. A vast majority of food lovers are also animal and culture lovers...the three go hand in hand. Finding insightful content for the indigenous people is always going to be hardest for you due to the language barrier. The restaurant that you visited where the owner/chef was a fan of your channel - it's highly likely that he's indigenous. How about you feature the chefs behind the best food you eat in each area...as they are highly likely to be indigenous. If there is a language barrier issue, you can subtitle and/or use TH-cam voiceover. Also, if you feature the chef first...he or she will tell you about the best place to see the indigenous animals... Loving your work!
Not really similar at all. I have tried Filipino food many times. Doesnt have the complexity in cooking style plus spices that Malaysian, Singaporean and Indonesian food has.
Here comes the little great weekend excursion time😀 Personally, I sometimes enjoy jellyfish sushi. As you said they are kinda tasteless. But the texture is so good I think. They do go well with soy sources too. Thank you for the amazing trip👍 And I like your T-shirt!! Stay safe Luke-san😄 From Japan✌

Ikan Belais (the 1st fish you tried) commonly does hv some bitter aftertaste. That is why I don't eat or buy that type of fish.
The bitter test that you test in ikan Bakar is from the belly of that fish
