Zadorov really excelled all season long, showing flashes of offense and I'd love to see him back next year, and if Hronek and his agent don't come out of their monetary delusions, see him tested out in September and October as a possible line mate for Hughes. Behind every great rushing defenseman is a great stay at home powerhouse defenseman. Coffey in Edmonton had Kevin Lowe, for example, and in Pittsburgh, he had Ulf Sammuelssen.

Hronek is a top 4 right shot D. But he was invisible in the playoffs and not much better in the 2nd half of the season, even playoff with Hughes. For me, you sign Zadorov, Lindholm and Joshua and then movie Hronek for something you can either flip for another, cheaper, top 4 D, or maybe you get a pick in the draft that you think can jump in to the NHL and make an impact immediately, particularly another defenseman - or a top 6 winger. In my view, if the Canucks had a healthy Boeser and Demko all the way through, a top 6 winger for Pettersson AND the Hronek of the first half of the season, they might have gotten past the Oilers by the skin of their teeth. But people are already upset about Petey's new contract given how he performed in the playoffs, so I'd be reluctant to give Hronek huge money. Regular season gets you to the playoffs, but if you can't perform when you're there, what's the point? Pettersson has proven he can be a playoff performer. They just have to figure out what went wrong and correct it.

the number one priority is fielding a good competitive team under the cap provided. Yes one player can make a difference but if we dont sign him it wont be a disaster. Their are other good finds at reasonable costs out there.
Hronek, Lindholm, Zadorov. Myers. Sign Silovs for 2 to match Demko and make a decision then. Joshua, Bluegar, Lafferty, Cole probably can’t come back. Young depth guys will have to step up and fill roles. It’s going to be a tough couple years until we pay off OEL. It will pay off.

Don't get me wrong I love the guy and would love to keep him around but he is pretty clearly priced out of our market and we shouldn't be spending 5-6M on a guy who's likely going to play on the bottom pair.

6x6 is too much, and he is not a 5th D. He is better than that on our team.
