I just changed this plastic connector on a 2013 G37 for an aluminum one with a bleeder. I used a Dorman 47291 connector that is easily available. If you are just replacing this connector you don't need to drain anything. Obviously wait until the car is cold then simply plug the coolant filler so no air can get in. You can't use the regular cap for this because it will vent air or coolant from the plastic reservoir back into the system once you open the system and you will then be dealing with a gusher. Put an old towel under the connector as you won't lose any more than a few ounces of coolant at most. I was able to do this without too much cursing by removing just the engine cover. Once replaced I opened the bleeder and very slightly unseated the plug on the coolant filler and the bleeder instantly filled with coolant. I then put on a burping funnel but really didn't need it as so very little coolant was lost and the bleeder worked like a charm.
I know this is super late, but I did the exact same thing with the TB coolant lines after I got a 75mm kit over a year ago. Didn’t want to unevenly distribute coolant or mess anything up. Just seemed like a good idea, glad someone else has done it!
That's hilarious I literally just fixed this issue days ago. Mine happened at 95k, it broke in half completely. Unfortunately had no clue this was common. It exploded in the middle of me running errands so I had no idea it happened until I noticed that sweet burning coolant smell then temp gauge was close to all the way. Who knows how long I ran overheated, probably not too long but definitely a bit. Really grateful for this video, it might bring more attention to this issue and save lots of people headaches. Don't think there is enough on TH-cam. I didn't even know Z1 made replacements so thanks! Had to use cheap stuff to fix mine, going to be replacing that asap.
For sure a ticking time bomb. Mine split right in half at 161,000 miles. Sprayed everywhere and smoke coming out the hood. Easy job if you just want to change the connector. Took me 30 mins just because I didn't want the pieces to fall in. So far so good
I’m at 162k miles and I just got a leak underneath my car, checked my coolant level and it’s bone dry. I filled it with water for now to find the leak idk where it is yet I’m tryna watch these videos to find out
@sobottrachhuth75 late reply but from what I've heard these shouldn't be plastic connectors. It's hot coolant running through it. If you gonna keep the car longterm I say buy the metals one from Z1 Motorsport
@alienjooce1324 cheap fix bro. It's uncomfortable especially in the winter lol but if you not in a rush order the metal one from Z1 and take your time. The old one will Crack. Just make sure it doesn't fall inside. You'll save about 200 lol

mine started to fail at about 85k miles. I noticed that every time I popped open the hood, my coolant reservoir would be a tiny bit lower than it was when I last checked on it. that happened a couple of times so I figured there must be a leak somewhere. turns out, it was this peace we're talking about in the video. Getting it to it and replacing it with a new one wasn't too bad but the damn thing came out in small pieces. there's an excellent reddit thread that details all the common problem on the Gs and what you should look out for. its called G37 Common Issue Thread. My 2011 G37 has 102k miles and all I've had to do so far is this connector and the gallery gaskets that started leaking at around 95k miles. it wasn't a bad oil leak at all but I did notice a slow build up so I got the gaskets changed. Those two fixes and a new brakes and rotors set is all I've done for my car. I've owned this car for 6 years now (bought at 54k miles) and its been wonderfully reliable.

Where are you from? Do I hear a Trinidadian accent?
tuh de bone. Lol.
@@3rdPedalMedia haha I always spot the accent , my gf is from there
Haha nice.
Okay so my 08 g35 sedan has been overheating when sitting/idling but when driving it’s just fine then I got home from work today and I see it’s leaking a lot of coolant and I check my coolant and I have none can someone please help me out with what could be wrong ?
Did you ever find a leak, water stains etc?
You wanna fix your leak first. Then bleed out the air and see if your thermostat is good. Also make sure your radiator fans are coming on.
I'm having this issue today
Dang. Hope you got it fixed
@@3rdPedalMedia It’s Hell getting those hoses off what are the hoses called?
@@jeromemalveaux3790 those hose clamps ?
@@3rdPedalMedia both
@@3rdPedalMedia the OEM hose I caught hell trying to put the lower hose in
My timebomb ticked its last tick last night😢
Dang
If you put the bleeder valve in the back, why you even bother putting the funnel to let the air out. You just simply fill up the coolant to full, turn on the engine with the max heater on, fill it all the way up and wait for all the bubbles to escape. It is an over killed job!!!
Bleeder will spill out eventually but the funnel will about to continuously cycle the guild around letting air out without spillage.
You bleed it at the high points of the system. Like the top of the radiator as he did.
This happened to me at highway speed . It was like running over a 2 liter bottle of sprite and that was the last day i had a connection with Infiniti . I babied this car for 10 years and in last 2 years was problems after problems . Sunroof leaking , fuel tank level sensor left me stranded in the middle of a highway , heater coolant hose leakage and upper radiator hose leakage . Good bye Infiniti for good .
A
Mines went out at 170k miles.
Oh wow. My car got 86k
@@3rdPedalMedia how much coolant did u use?
@@faduhfade77 not much at all. About a 1/8 of a container.
Lol you don’t even show the exact location. That would help out tremendously
Maybe if you watch the entire video instead of skipping you may actually see where the exact location is.
Literally passenger side behind the the engine look for the the same hose and there you go if you know cars you wouldn’t have any trouble
Mine went at 125000
Did it blow hard or just started with a crack?
@@3rdPedalMedia
It just started to crack then I had coolant dripping from the hose, so I went and replaced all my hoses.
120 for me
