On my Infiniti Q50 2015 with 3.7 the heater hose connection broke since it’s made of plastic. It’s in back of engine passenger side for me on firewall and I would recommend buying aluminum one with bleeder from z1 Motorsports
exactly my issue when my car overheated .,i would have missed it without u pointing out the issue ,thx for the part size also ,once the part was changed car was good again,30 dolllar fix with coolant, ive could've spent more taking to a shop , and them lying about what the issue actually was.And my plastic also came out in small pieces, that pain to take out and the clamps were pain to take off and put on ,tight space to work in
This just happened to my 2008 g35, I was on here looking for a head gasket replacement video assuming the worst of it. Until I came across your video, which made me want to check that area out and because when I filled up the radiator to the top I heard water gushing out of somewhere behind the engine. Thanks for the video man with out I would still be scratching my head stressing about a head gasket on this vq35hr which looked like a pain to do.
I have the same car, same year, same model and the same issue. A friend that has one told me it was the gasket as well so I was looking for one. I too am glad I came across this video
Yup mined is a 2008 ex35 (vq35hr)and sure enough the connector peice one day while heat was on sent a puff of smoke from right side up under my hood, did it twice then went away as i was in motion, turned heat off immediately, long story short 2 weeks later due to leak always drying before i can find it, parked it on a hill turned heat on and BAM leaking at connector, baught extra hoses and things but literally only connector peice literally snapped in half and was brittle and broke apart as i was taking it apart..... took a good hour to 2 to do so cause i shouldve purchased long needle nose pliers.....but yea problem fixed!
Cars that need oil consumption as a monthly i wouldn't recommend for places over 100 degrees everyday for months straight. Theres waaaayyy to many parts under the hood that will feel the heat as well.( Most packed cars of all time!)
Next time let me know, I have a radiator funnel, also a Venturi filler to fill it with an air compressor, and have a pressure tester to see if you have any other leaks
Your barb was a good fix for temporary but the z1 fitting with bleeder screw should be your long term fix. It will help get all bubbles out of your system and make flushes easy for future.
It wasn't a head gasket issue, it was just a heater hose that broke. Some people say it's common, i personally have not seen many G35/7s with head gasket issues.
Tbh me and my friends all bought g's during highschool before selling and going to uni. We beat the living shit out of them and they would never give up. We all had vhr and hr motors. Vhr is the best but there was a common issue with the oil gallery seal leaking. My 2013 g37x never had a single issue and my friends 37's and 35's didn't either.
Bro it just happened with me that coupling broke off, i replaced it, but still overheating and coolant looks is full , judging by reservoir. Took it to the shop they estimated $3500 . Blowed up gasket. Now i don’t know what to think
Lmao this happened to me on my 2011 g37x. My car went up in smoke (steam) randomly when I parked somewhere. The coupler that Infiniti uses for that heater hose is a plastic that basically erodes and breaks. I replaced mine with metal. (Almost exactly what you did) Lol
I had some smoke inside the car on my g35x 2008. It had not coolant at all when I bought it which has me wondering where’s the escape. The smoke from the dash has me worried about the heater core😔 engine sounds good no knocking and maintains tempature but I’m scared to turn the heat on… what you guys think?
Smoke or steam? Steam would point toward the heater core, i would turn the heater on and see what happens just to make sure what the issue is. If its smoke, its probably a valve cover leaking oil onto the exhaust.
i have a question yesterday i was driving my g37 nd did a baby pull then notice smoke was coming out, today i checked nd the heater hose broke, just like yours. do you think there’s head gasket damage?
What do you mean exactly? it doesnt crank at all? Cranks but doesnt start? or cranks and stumbles but doesnt stay on? If it was also over heating the biggest concern is loss of compression through the headgaskets.
@Garage23 I am trying to work on a 2013 G37. It overheated from I believe coolant leaked. Engine stalled while driving, but it was able to start after it cooled down. I'm wondering if it sustained head gasket damaged.
Hey I’ve been having a few overheating issues with my q50 3.7 and recently I thought it was all fixed until I did a pull and the radiator completely blew . Could it be that my head gaskets are blown?
It's a possibility, if its leaking compression into the coolant system I suppose it could blow up the rad. You'd need to do a compression check on all cylinder to rule that out.
The reason you’ve got a bank 1lean fuel code is because the oxygen sensor is directly below the leak and is either causing electrical connection issues at the sensor or causing faulty readings due to dumping coolant on exhaust /cat resulting in temperature variation between banks . I’m betting you didn’t see this code come up after fixing coolant leak.
Hi! My husband bought his Infiniti g37 sport coupe back in December from a used car dealership. Less than a month of having it, it started having CO2 sensor problems and engine problems. We took it back to the dealership and they replaced the engine and said that the problem was that coolant got into the engine somehow. We recently got the car back and it has white smoke coming out of the tail, they said it would clear in two days and it still hasn’t. What do you think we should do?
I doubt they changed the whole engine out, and if they did the new one definitely has blown head gaskets if it is billowing out white smoke. I would keep complaining to them or try and get them to trade in for a different car.
So the same thing happened to me but expect my car keeps on overheating I replaced the hoes with a Longer hoes that way I don't have to keep on replacing the hoes connector but the car still overheats any suggestions
Assuming you bled the coolant thoroughly, the next things would be pressure testing the coolant system and engine compression to make sure you didnt blow the headgasket. Also could try replacing the thermostat as that might have been the root cause initialy.
It's pretty rare for vq37s to have head gasket issues. They're not perfect but it's definitely not one of the most common things you have. Sitting at 245k in my VQ

If there is oil in your coolant it is very likely the head gasket is damaged. Especially if it is still overheating after you repaired the leak. I would have a professional examine it to make sure.
@@Garage23 oh no it doesn’t overheat after I charged the battery I drove it while it was leaking for like 10 minutes and then I let it sit for like 20 and it didn’t overheat but I haven’t changed the part

That heater-core coolant union is a weak point. It's one of those things that you pretty much have guaranteed break on these engines.

It's possible, if you still have a lot of white smoke after you fix the hose and refill the coolant then most likely the head has warped.
Not sure if i missed it dis you not her the milkshake oil?
Nope no milkshake, car is still running fine to this day

Correct, code didn't come back. I figured it was just the air fuel ratio going out the window since the temp sensor didn't have any coolant to read.
