Thanks Bobby. Great to see it on the SL2-S, which is what I have. The other reviewers had Sony version, so it was useful to see how it looks with the SL2 body. I seldom need these longer focal lengths anymore, but I will probably pick this up for those time I do. Appreciate this and all your reviews!
Thanks for watching. Yes surprised not many decided to use this for the SL2 /S cameras. It’s a great focal length to have and btw it first with Leica’s 1.4x extender
Hi! I have 3 questions if I may :) How's AF with S5IIX, especially after the recent firmware update? Does the lens stabilization compliments body stabilization or dual mode is reserved for native Panasonic lenses. And the last one is linear - non-linear setting and angle of the ring in MF mode possible to be set with Sigma lens on Panasonic body or is it also reserved for native Panasonic lenses only? Thanks!
Love my Panasonic 70-200 2.8 on the Leica Sl2S. At the time of purchase, this was the only 70-200mm 2.8 available that I could find. This looks great, however, I'd definitely have to check what the zoom feels like at the front of the lens, when the zoom ring is usually more in the middle of the lens. How was the ergonomics for you in shooting?
Hi Bobby, I enjoyed your review as usual, it's wonderful to see Sigma's latest optic innovation. Can you share which backpack you're sporting? Really excited to see your channel thriving so quickly. Keep up the fantastic work with your content! 😊
Looks great on the Leica. (I’m shallow: how it looks on the SL2 is almost as important as how it works.) Bobby also did a great review on the Leica (ahhh Sigma) 14-24 F2.8 which is also a hit. Where’d you get that cool neck strap? Thank you.
Thanks for this video! I'll be getting this instead of the Panasonic 70-200 for $500 I don't see a huge difference in the Panasonic being better. You said it yourself the Sigma glass is great and I've been loving my Sigma 24-70 2.8 for the L mount so mine as well keep buying the sigmas!
I picked this lens up for my A7rV and have been impressed. It's better than the first iteration of the Sony GM 70-200... Not only that but it's extremely comparable to the version 2 for 1300 usd less.
Interesting Video, the only one I have found for L Mount. Having walked around with certain Leica Optics (90-280, 280F4 APO, 280F2.8APO) the weight should not be an issue. Certainly a Lens set up for the best results. Keep well & Stay safe 👍🇬🇧
Thanks. Yes I believe I was the only one covering the L-Mount version. It’s a fantastic lens and and any sports lens from Sigma are APO lenses as well so fits in nicely with the Leica lineup
Definitely Two Lens on the shopping list for later in the Year. Watched your Video on the 500 F5.6 as well. That’s the one focal length missing in the SL Line Up. Keep Well 👍🇬🇧
Hi. Yes you can. Contrast based systems still work well. For me you only see issues with video and perhaps objects that move sporadically around the frame. Still subjects and natural movement are fine
I can’t afford the Sony G master. So I was waiting on this lens. Disappointed with the weight and size, small zoom ring with the hood on. The knob to take the hood on and off. No quick release on the tripod foot. Good to hear the optics is good.
I would say try it and see. The G Master version II is a great lens but comes at a price. If the trade offs are worth the savings then look at the Sigma
@@btonelli this one is probably a dumb question. I shoot with SL2-s and Leica 24-70… the combo is the worse to autofocus compared to my Lumix G9. Now my question is, would the lens be affecting how fast it is to autofocus or it’s the body?
I saw a comparison with the Tamron 70-180 G2. And I like Tamron better in terms of bokeh and depth of the picture, it gives depth and plasticity to the photos. The bokeh of Sigma is too crystalline like taken with an iPhone.
What I was saying is color science is good out of the SL2-S. Leica tends to tweak different cameras slightly. Could be due to different sensors etc., but there is a difference
They do? And judging by your comment, you consider the colour science out of the SL2s the more desirable one?. Thanks for the response. Keep up the good work!
Hmm depends. When I hear Germans or Spanish speak in their native language they also speak fast. There is an option to slow down the playback speed on the video to help.
A L-Mount review finally! Thanks Bobby.
Most welcome 🙏
Gotta be the only Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 review on a Leica. Thank You
Most welcome
Bobby - you're the best. Happy to see the channel growing fast..
Thank you. Means a lot 🙏
The weather sealing is also amazing. I think it’s a really great deal for L-Mount users. Probably will be a Leica version of this lens.
I’m guessing there will be one for Leica as well
Just labelled it and double the price, I think Leica eventually focus on M lenses, the rest will be subcontracted
I LOVED your short of "campagnolo" from the other video... Thankyou for this fantastik video!!!
Thank you!
Where the heck did you hide the LAV Mic? Audio sounds terrific. lol Oh yeah, the video is great too. Glad to see a good L mount review.

How is the sharpness and IQ if being compared to Vario Elmar 100-400mm F5-6.3?
I find the IQ equal to or even better than the 100-400
In terms of autofocus: can you shoot a wedding with it together with the Lumix S1 and its contrast based system?

You’re not missing out on anything because it’s been glitching/not focusing on my subjects 😢😢
Are the Function buttons compatible/useable with the SL2-S?
They are but need to set them through the Sigma control app with the device to assign functionality
will this lens still have the "Leica look" or Leica colour science if compared to the Leica native SL lenses or M lenses?
It has the warmer tones that are similar to the leica colors. Panasonic has a cooler tone which is opposite
good Review... What about this one on a Leic SL3 with phase detection AF ???
Any infos ? Thanks
It’s improved by the AF currently on the SL3 isn’t a huge upgrade from the SL2 currently
Was it confirmed that the new Sigma 70-200 is compatible with Sigma 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters for L mount?
Yes it does
Any chance to try it on a Sigma FP-L ?
Tried it but the size of the FP-L to the lens didn’t necessarily work ergonomically
OIC, Thanks for advice!
@@rchu1678 no prob.
Was the movie Dune 2 shot with this Sigma lens or Mir and Jupiter?
I don’t think it was filmed with this lens
@@btonelli Among the most notable vintage lenses used to film Dune: Part Two is a Helios 44, a Russian-made clone of the famed Zeiss Biotar.
