Rachel!! You can't use bleach on cat pee, the ammonia in the pee mixes with the bleach and creates mustard gas!! You're lucky you didn't end up in the hospital too. You can use something like Natures Miracle or My Pet Peed to clean cat pee. Sending love and healing to Abbie 💚

Wow, I’m a surgical nurse and even though an appendectomy is considered a minor surgery now a days, it’s still a 24 hour stay…everyone gets IV antibiotics for the first 24 hours! Hope she is doing well and has made it over that bump in the road! ❤
in 2007 when I got mine done, they immediately hooked me on antibiotics just based on some labs I had a week prior (the fam doc sucked and didn't believe me when I told her it was appendicitis, so I went rogue and had labs done and an abdominal ultrasound to prove her suspicions wrong), they sucked some more blood outta me and put a rush on it, they admitted me and ran a bajillion more tests: weight, height, EKG, X-rayed my lungs, asked me a plethora of questions about my diet, my allergies, whether I'd been to the dentist recently, etc. and the surgery happened first thing next day, after a very uncomfy experience with shaving ( they could've told me so I'd prepped myself, I was perfectly capable of it) and an enema cause apparently it's standard procedure for abdominal surgery. Oh and I stayed for a day in ICU post-op, and a whole week in total in the hospital and on the day I got out, so did my stitches, pulled out by the doctor himself.
I got my appendix removed back when I was 5 and I'm 37 now and going strong 🙏

100% It was so irresponsible of them not to keep her there on antibiotics. Could have avoided the much longer hospitalisation

I had my appendix removed in 2020. My husband had to go home and wait till he got a phone call. Thank God I work for the hospital, so I wasn't alone my coworkers sat with me. Get well soon Abbie.
My uncle had his appendix out in 2020 and my aunt was not allowed to be with in the ER or after for the 24 hour stay.Glad you had friends to be with you.
I had my gallbladder out in 2020, I was alone when I went in for surgery & afterwards, it was not a fun experience. I have bad anxiety, so I only got like 2 hrs sleep the night before

Here is what helped our cat to stop going outside the litter box: two litter boxes (one of those is a large one and the other has a lid), one has crystals and the other has regular litter, and the Feliway diffuser.

Abbie, you'll be fine, fit and healthy in no time !! I should know how it feels; it was a bit extreme. I was 16, ruptured, put into an induced coma for 4 days and lost nearly 50 lbs. I went in chubby and came home skinny!!

Momma to 7 cats here. For the pee issue, not sure what type of litter pan you have but, if you don’t have one, try a covered pan. I had the same issue until I got one. They sometimes don’t realize their bottom is outside the pan when they go. The cover stops that from happening.

I’ve had cats my whole life… if they pee not inside the litter box it’s either because they are too young or old to get it (cats become senile too) OR - and this is usually the case with most - the litter box is not being kept clean enough. At absolute minimum it should be cleaned 2 times a day.
