Good to see you reviewing the Epic scale again.
Always exciting to have a new Epic release
Excited to see you back in the Epic World. You’re such a good painter and your videos so helpful it doesn’t really matter which of the two you suggested that you start with…..but my vote is ELEPHANTS!! After a hiatus from miniature painting I put paint to my first Epic Pike and Shotte this last week. Having done so many ACW (and you painted many for me) and especially Union, Pike and Shotte and now this new period look to offer a lot of variety in colors etc minimizing (for me) fatigue and boredom when doing repetitive painting. I’ll probably spring for the Hannibal box with an extra box of Elephants….yet again Warlord have dibs on my pocket money…..
Really looking forward to seeing you tackle this new Epic period with the same vim and vigor you did with the Napoleonics and ACW😊
Paul (Berwick/Laguna Beach)
Cheers Paul, I’m certainly looking forward to getting stuck in to the painting. I think Romans may end up being first (out in a few days), with Elephants following on close enough after.
Will look forward to your painting tutorials on these.
Hopefully will have the first one out in under a week 🤞
@@MiniatureRealms Nice one.
I’m so looking forward to these coming out.
There seems to be lots of excitement around this one
Ive been looking forward to your review of these since the announcement came out. Thanks for doing this!
Thank you for watching, looking forward to bringing more content on this very soon .
I've barely got into miniatures in general. Suprisingly not started with the ww2 which i've been quite an active history hunter all my life but rather the napoleonic range which was a shocker but its just something about those flashy uniforms. Thank you for the videos you are providing on the painting tutorials for these as they have been a great help. Im currently working on my 2nd of three ranks of line infantry from the french brigade box. Sadly the range of Hannibal and the Punic war isn't my cup of tea but its always great to see new ranges both for new miniature gamers aswell as the "old guard" that have been waiting for years for the punic wars im sure.
Thank you for watching 🙂
Thanks Stu! Very happy to see that we’ll get some excellent tips on how to paint these great looking models. Even if I don’t get into this range I find the techniques really used for a range of scales.
Cheers Ben 🙂
These new minis look pretty cool. I actually quite like that they are ranked up like that as it looks like there are more men per unit and they would have fought in closed ranks. The elephants are also cool. I’m happy for you to pick either as your first tutorial as they seem equally cool.
Personally I wouldn’t be likely to pick these up but that isn’t a comment on their quality or value but more about my painting schedule which is very full up right now and I need to concentrate on specific things otherwise won’t have much to game with.
I can certainly understand that, I have way too much to paint 😂
These look fantastic imo. Thanks for showing the romans and giving them a good turn around. They were the main thing I wasn't sure about but they look fantastic and seem easy to get together, definitely going to grab it. Probably the Hannibal box.
The elephants have the added bonus of being usable for Macedonians and successors. Or in my case I'll make a Pyrrhic army assuming they hopefully add Phalangites to the range.
Great vid, thanks a mill 👍
Thank you for watching, and glad you found it helpful.
after third party discounts the Hannibal set is insane value which can be split between two for around £80 each.
Yep you get a lot of miniatures for your money.
I’ve been waiting for Classical period stuff for Epic battles. The other sets have been cool, but not really my period. Hoping we get some Greeks/Macedonians too.
That would be really cool
I always wanted this, but I would love some Germans or other Mediterranean societies as well!
I’m glad to see the molds are looking better
Yep these are pretty good I think.
Can't wait to get our hands on these. 😍
They look SO good!
I’m hoping these will be quicker to paint as well, I think they will.
@@MiniatureRealms I think they will be! Having the romans essentially split into thirds like that will make it pretty quick.
We've been diving into 15mm Bolt Action Recently and I painted up my army in probably 3-4 sittings as opposed to something like 10. 15mm/Epic scale is my favorite now
Looks awesome, my epic scale Prussian and Pike & Shotte are glaring at me right now XD
😂 I know the feeling
They look fantastic. I can’t wait to get my hands on some
Hopefully not too long, you’d have that mega box painted in a month.
@@MiniatureRealms lol
Looking forward to you painting them
Thank you 🙂
@@MiniatureRealms Have you started painting yet?
@user-zb2jy3ge5d working in the first tutorials now 🙂
@@MiniatureRealms I am looking forward to seeing how you do with them. Best of luck
Buenos Días, Felicitaciones apenas supe noticias me enamoré de esas minis, esa época me llama la atención y reconozco me decanto por Cartago.
I’m really excited to start painting!
Thank you - looks good.
Cheers Norm
Can't wait for this. Never tried this scale before but it seems perfect for ancient battles.
I agree, it might actually be the best of the periods they’ve covered for scale and size of battles.
Thanks for the video. Cant wait for the tutorials..especially the one for the Carthaginians
I’ve started working on them all now, I think Romans and then Elephants first up, but I’ll start on the Carthaginians sprue after that.
i pre ordered my romans asap^^ so please a roman paint tutorial! :D
They’re the first ones up 🙂
I’ve been thinking of basing the epic French in three ranks (as they should be) using a modded 3D print.
That would be very cool! I must admit I did think how cool it would have been if they had done the same with the French.
Yep, they look great and I am sure they Warlord games will do well with them. Love the elephants. 😀👍
The Elephants are great, just finished some for the next tutorial.
@@MiniatureRealms I look forward to seeing them. 👍
Thanks for showing them! I can't wait to get them. I couldn't withstand so I 've ordered on day 1 of pre-order 🙂
Thank you for watching 🙂
Hi Stu, great to see u back with this fantastic epic range. This is the one I have been waiting for and already pre-ordered a load of these and building scenery for it as I type this 👍 Stevie
Cheers Stevie 🙂
I think these figures are awesome! Really looking forward to your painting tutorial. In my very humble opinion starting the painting tutorial with the infantry like the romans would be fine. The bread and butter of any army is the infantry. 🙂
Yep I think that’s where my brain went as well, Romans are on the table now 🙂
I finally gave into temptation and bought the huge battle box. At first glance you appear to get about 1/3 more per army than you get in each army box. For example 360 Roman principes in the battle box versus 240 principes in the army box.
It’s pretty good value, and a whole lot of plastic. Hope you have loads of fun working through it all.
I used the an affiliate link to give you a +1 lol. Warlord games are trying to send me broke for sure - shame on you WG! Some great figs and great to see Warlord expanding this range of epic scale. Would love to see Zulu/Colonial era in the future in epic scale (SYW, HYW, FPW the list goes on - a big money earner for WG so good on them) . Hannibal sets are amazing (still got to look into Prussian for 1815). Too many ranges , not enough time (or $$$) . Maybe when I retire. Thanks for the info
cheers
Thank you 😊
…and yes, I could come up with a huge list of periods I’d love to see them cover, but then I wouldn’t know what to do with them all if I had them. 😂
Danke für die Vorstellung... :)
Thank you for watching, looking forward to bringing you more 🙂
I'd love to get into these but I'm still dealing with Epic Pike and Shotte. Maybe I can be ready for July.
I have so much Epic from all the periods left to paint 😅
Thank you very much for your review video. It is quite useful, as well as your other videos. It would be great if you could compare with 15 mm Ancient miniatures or, at least, with previous Epic scale ones. I have remarked that they are not the same scale and they are growing with each release, ACW being the smallest.
Regarding historical accuracy, I am afraid they are not quite so. Romans did not fight in denser formations than Carthaginians and in fact they were known for their flexibility. I do not like much the idea of releasing miniatures that are like legos. This innovation is not quite of my liking. For the same price they could have modeled the whole figure and let the people decide how many ranks they wanted. For the Carthaginian troops, it is true that most manufacturers produce miniatures like the ones offered, but research seems to prove that Carthaginians and Romans were not that uniformly equipped at that time and they might have switched equipment.
I’ll try and remember to do a quick scale comparison in my first painting video.
Thanks for the info! I think it's really cool Warlord is spreading around the time periods and not staying confined to the black powder era, etc.
I know this. The ancients period is IDEAL for this scale.
Some of massive sizes of battles back then are tough to do in bigger scales on limited table spaces.
With this mini. scale a 4 x 6 table allows you to do battles of fairly large size.
Yes absolutely, probably far better in that sense than previous periods.
As someone who has got burned by buying only one army, i always buy two opposing sides so im always able to play a game with someone
I like to do this myself, it’s definitely hard to get both sides painted, but well worth it.
Please include me. Would love to be involved with the draw. My grandson age 9, got involved with me when COVID struck.and we where looking after him so would be amazing to paint research and set up a pike and shot era with him. ❤
All the best with the draw, my eldest is 9 and plays a few games with me, it’s great to start them young.
These look great but need to stay disciplined with dwarves coming soon. One day…
Very sensible
What scale are these?
Warlords Epic scale have been around for years. Do you really not know???
@@philstephenson5855 chill, its a game
Epic scale is about 13.5mm, it falls in between the classic 10mm and 15mm ranges. It's like Warlord's own proprietory scale they're marketing. The American Civil War, Napoleonic, and English Civil War epic ranges are also 13.5mm.
As @miketike3246 has said 🙂
@@philstephenson5855 I hate to break this to you but this epic line is not a popular one outside of the very little niche that is warlord fanboys. The scale does not match up well with either 10mm or 15mm established miniatures.
Am I the only maniac going for the all in one box set?😂
😂 I’m sure there are quite a few of you, but all the best working through it 🙂
Is this 15mm?
Sort of, officially it’s Warlord’s own ‘Epic Scale’, the original release was 13.5mm, but there has been a little scale creep with the Waterloo range and the. The Pike & Shotte range. So 15mm is the closed match, but they’re more like old school 15s rather than some of the ranges that actually end up being more like 18mm.
@@MiniatureRealms Thanks :)
