ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on TH-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!

When my generation grew up, we went all over the place without parents. These kids have the best world. Playing all day in the fields and mom is cooking up some ideal playmates! These will be the best gents when they grow up.

I'm 5 years older than my 3 siblings, that were born a year apart. So from a slight distance I got to witness what my mother had to do to raise 3 children in diapers. Dad was in the military and away for months at a time. This was just common life in those times for most families. Lizzie and Cammy have chosen to embark on that "Three wee-ones" journey in just a short while. Except this is farming, not suburban life. Jock, Angus and I'm sure their sister (🙏) will be included in most of this busy lifestyle. Riding on mom and dad or very nearby. On top of that: this is outdoors "hands-on" sheep farming. A family like this can take on the world!

To some of us who are at home and will never see a sheep farm, this is absolute gold. You bring such joy to my life. And when you're taking samples of dung, you remind me of my days back in the lab. You don't have to worry about your samples killing you, though. We had some samples that might have nasty human diseases.

Cammy your videos are always interesting. Every single video teaches me something. You under estimate yourself because you do this every day but for people like me (an arm chair, city wanna be farmer and raise livestock) it’s very interesting just seeing some of what you do each day and you educating us on why and what you need to watch for in your herd. And of course seeing you and Lizzie working your buttocks off while raising your kids. I love seeing how the boys are in there with you while you work. Your sons are so use to being around the work and animals there knowledge is going to be incredible. Beautiful drone shots also! My uneducated thoughts on fluke that if it’s in the poo, seems they could all easily get it just by walking through the poo.

I’m sure you know but the part you cut open was the gall bladder not the bile duct. The gall bladder stores bile, the liver makes bile & the bile duct transports it between the two 👍

@@TheSheepGame You guys are amazing, it's interesting that you're in Ayrshire and the cattle that are famous from being there for established in Wisconsin in the US. They are a bit rare now. Keeping sheep is hard, and you all are doing an amazing job.
There is/was a Canadian vet who did a lot of cattle autopsies. And I don't think he ever got blocked by TH-cam. Cody Creelman. His channel is still active. You can take a look to see how much he was able to show. Especially since it was to help vet students.

The biggest issue is the treatments have no residual effect ie the sheep will pick up metasacaria from infected pasture as soon as they start grazing same for worms. OMG Cammy, what do you mean, "If your still alive at 70", I'm only 2 years away from that and it's just toooooooo soon, to be thinking of the end. We had fluke over on the West Coast of the South Island when I was managing a deer farm, so glad we don't have it over here in Canterbury.

One good reason to treat at this point is to stay ahead of the infestation. It's not a magic, poof, all gone, kind of thing, although that would be nice...there will almost always be more coming along if you use the same pastures, and the key is to keep interrupting the cycle.
I'm surprised at how nice and green your grass is . Here in WV even if we are quite a bit south of you all mine is all brown .
