My Sikh classmate had very long hair. Long hair lead to a huge bun (जुड़ा). And he used to wear patka to college. In college we went to many places on college trips, south India, north India, east India, west India, etc. He never felt awkward with a huge BUN on his head with a Patka. (A patka exposes the bun more than pagdi or turban.. A pagdi will hide your bun.... So you understand what I mean) This shows Sikhs are our common brothers across India. It was not even a issue for any of us classmates, till one day we went to Bangladesh on a college trip. When he went to Bangladesh (I couldn't go because my passport was not ready), many Bangladeshi Muslims kids actually got curious and touched his bun. They were even talking among themselves and laughing, seemed they were making fun. The Bengali students among us actually tild him, the Bangladeshis were makibg fun of him. But this sardar friend had a big heart. (He himself was known for teling Sardar ji jokes) He never mind it. He let them touch his bun. He took it in his stride. Now he is in USA. Nice felloe (I won't share his name here)

Think of it like this, logically, you are not charged/arrested based on what you say but based on what you DO. So the moment you raise your hand and you have little respect for the Guru and his symbol you will definitely get a reminder to not do the bad deed. The idea is to invoke a noble thought when you are tempted to do something bad. Yes there are people who will ignore all these thoughts and still go ahead and do what they want to do. But the main purpose is to hit control mind which will automatically control your hands and your mouth as well. Hope this clarifies.

Think of it like this, logically, you are not charged/arrested based on what you say but based on what you DO. So the moment you raise your hand and you have little respect for the Guru and his symbol you will definitely get a reminder to not do the bad deed. The idea is to invoke a noble thought when you are tempted to do something bad. Yes there are people who will ignore all these thoughts and still go ahead and do what they want to do. But the main purpose is to hit control mind which will automatically control your hands and your mouth as well. Hope this clarifies.
