I like my Model 3 Performance as well. I could never go 100% EV though. I still need to row the gears and listen to the exhaust note. It is good to have both for different reasons. The Tesla is an awesome commuter car. It is fast, cheaper than gas, stress free and has a great sound system.

I've owned a Plaid in the exact same spec (minus FSD) for the last 6 months and you share my thoughts exactly. It's obviously very fast but the best part about the car is the tech. I love the autopilot on long road trips and the ability to not carry around a key and just use my phone is very convenient. Never have to think about locking the car and I just get in, swipe up, and go. However, the lack of a steering wheel and an engine really take away from the driving experience. Despite the car being insanely fast, it is extremely boring to drive. No emotional or visceral connection. And charging is a bitch, especially on road trips. I want to replace it but not sure what with? RS7, M5, E63...idk.
Where do you live that charging has been a bitch? I've never had issues road-tripping in my Y.

Tesla has serious QC issues. I took delivery of my plaid a few months ago, will probably be my last unless they make serious improvements. The home delivery for starters is terrible, you cannot inspect the interior of the vehicle without accepting delivery. Any issues as you mentioned they claim they will fix later, only to find out the body shop is 3 months out. The cars should never leave the factory with these issues. The loose piece behind the screen is not normal, mine does not do that but others have had the same issue. Same with the car location being wrong throwing everything off. Your car will start vibrating too if it doesn't already...
I worked there and they are built like shit. I will never own one.

Im early . Having 2 teslas had teached me alot about it. When ever i seat on a mclaren and think of buying one the amount of issues ill be taking in reminds me that a plaid is not a bad option after all for less money.

Joe - totally agreed the build quality makes it a very unfortunate total turd. Then add no steering wheel, poor brakes, and full self-driving that you have to drive like a grandma to enable even though you already paid $12,000. Very smart to let this thing go now and minimize the losses. Can't wait for the four motor electric M3 to come out. Till then the M3 xDrive is our ride of choice with a tune up to 630hp. M5 tuned or M5 CS tuned works too.

I think the plaid did a good job at showing us where electric cars are heading, but they do lack in some areas. My boss had a plaid on order but canceled it once he drove one. Bought a BMW M8 grand Coupe instead. To him its better looking, nicer interior, still fast for a daily driver, and lets not forget the pops and bangs coming out of the exhaust.

I really want to like Tesla, but they can't get their shit together. Having this scale of QC and software issues can't be excused anymore - they're not some new startup, the Model S is a decade old and they're the 12th most profitable auto manufacturer in the world (and the manufacturer with the largest market cap.) They're a flex to people who don't know how bad they are. If you want a great electric car that is an actual flex, get an RS E-Tron GT or a Taycan GTS. Much better build from much better brands with similar performance (better performance when not in a straight line) and you can get them for basically the same cost.

im fine with EV's, and its cool that its really fast from 0-60. but the price point is ridiculous for what you are getting, im pretty sure a chrysler 300 has better build quality as well. If you are going to price your car in-line with the AMG and the M car it needs to have the interior to back it up. part of the reason the hellcat is significantly cheaper comparably.
The same could be said about hypercars. If you are gonna price yourself at $500k you better be able to smoke a $150K Tesla Model S Plaid.
@@SPDFRK007 they'll catch the plaid fairly quickly. The single speed motor is crazy fast up until 100ish then It starts slowing down. That's why I'm expecting a faster taycan to launch with it's multi speed motor
Tesla makes more profit margins than any other big automaker so the price is really just a supply and demand issue. Will go down as they produce more of them.
@@Rommer2258 The power curve is pretty flat from 60 to 200 mph so it's not really about the number of gears it's just that the car is pretty heavy so the power to weight ratio is not as good as some supercars.
About the Tesla Plaid? Should have just got a Lucid Air. Actually has has the build quality and interior you should get for 150k. About your channel? You make some cinematic stuff and for it being a side thing/hobby for you, it blows away other channels that solely focused on youtube.

Surprised you didn’t go Taycan if you wanted to try out EVs. I feel like other OEMs are definitely catching up to Tesla in the EV world and they’re actually giving a good driving experience and not just the “fart” horn gimmicks like Tesla does

Tesla has been building the model s for what over a decade now and still has the worst quality control ever. It doesn’t make sense. I understand the first model and maybe even the 2nd but come on now. 10+ years of basically the same car appearance wise and it should be coming out the factory flawlessly.

I have had the privilege of taking a ride in a model s plaid recently and I have to say, the way it delivers power is absolutely terrifying. There is no wind-up period, no "prepare yourself" period, or anything else. It's stomp on the gas and pray your organs don't hemorrhage all the way to crazy levels of speed.
Don’t own a Plaid, but I have a 22’ Model 3 Performance. The car is a blast to drive and I honestly don’t think people realize how quick they are off the line. It has its flaws, specifically build quality should be better. But the pros outweigh the cons for me.

I just never get why people complain about charging when live at a house. I mean unless you drive 300 miles a day, you are just plugging it once a week? an you NEVER have to go to a gas station again. Like never pick up that dirty ass handle or realize in the morning you need to stop because you are low. You literally have the gas station in your garage. Now if you are someone that is always taking long road trips then i get it, but this guy is filling up his plaid for like 15-20 bucks tops. What other luxury car that runs 9 flat is filling their premium tank up for 15 bucks?

Calling a Model S a luxury car is crazy. I don't "hate" the car by any means but it is FAR from a luxury vehicle. It's really fast, yeah, but if you've actually sat in one of these things, they are not that luxurious. The design is mediocre at best, the seats have really poor cushioning and aren't shaped very well, a lot of the features being on a screen is pretty annoying to a lot of people, and in terms of luxury features, it doesn't have many. If you're looking for a super fast car and that doesn't matter to you, this Tesla is perfect. I don't have any problems with the charging, but oh man the build quality is awful for $150,000.

I skipped this video cuz I thought it was going to be another person raving about Tesla. But I was wrong! Let me start by listing the cars I currently own. 18 RWS R8, Jeep Gladiator on 37s, and a Prius. Sold the Prius this year to get a Model Y Performance and totally regret getting the Model Y. I had such high hopes for the Model Y that I didn’t even test drive one before taking delivery. I want to get rid of it so bad, but I don’t want to lose money trading it in. Glad to know I am not the only one that really dislikes Teslas.

Soon as all the other auto manufacturers are offering EV then I think the quality of Tesla will start to improve and the price will essentially go down. But tech wise Tesla is ahead of the game.
They are aiming for 20 million vehicles a year by 2'030. Until then the quality will have up and downs, you never know what you will get. That's the price to pay for constant upgrades and new manufacturing processes...
Had 21 Model 3 Performance and loved the car. It was super convenient and quick. But that’s about it. Ended up trading it for a 22 BMW M3 Comp Xdrive. 🤷🏾

If you watch some of carwow race videos. The thing actually stops, just as well as many other high performance vehicles. Yes, it won't do it over and over and over and over again, but this car is not built for the track. It's perfectly fine for everyday use.
I have a Model 3 and was going to upgrade to a Model S. I kept my 3 because when tested the S it wasn't that impressive outside of saying i have and expensive car and the Ludacris mode.
