And... oh, BOY, you should've been there in the 60s and 70s! 4 pubs. 2 banks open full time. Interesting to look at the financial history of most houses currently for sale in the Cotswolds. Whatever you bought in the late 90's for 200K will sell for close to 1M today. There's a house for sale in Blockley on one of the mini housing estates you refer to, with a common garden, swimming pool and tennis court (1K per month for maintenance?). Glad to see you calling out the car parks that often blight the centre of beautiful market towns. Surely people can park on the edge and walk for five minutes instead.
If you want to eat in Stow there is a lovely small cafe called The Old Bakery. Highly recommend the homemade cream tea and their exceptional rich hot chocolate made with chocolate and cream! Always a favourite to swing by when in the area 😁

Everywhere here is dominated by rich old people
Just spent a few days in the Cotswolds. Love it there. However the week before we were in Wales. You have to visit Port Talbot, utter toilet. Or Barmouth the dullest seaside town, even worse than Weston Super Meh. Oh and the Gypsys Horse people in Stow, I did not get the impression from locals that anybody welcomes them, all the pubs and shops put up shutters and flee.
i thought Painswick might be somewhere in there but checking the map I see it's maybe not quite in the Cotswold area as it's more towards Stroud (although the houses are all build out of the lovely golden Cotswold stone)

I’m old enough to remember when what you suggest was a realistic option in this country; I did it myself. I can assure you that those days are long gone.
Best option nowadays is to literally do it yourself. Start your own business and sell to the world. Get into trade and be a sole trader. Trying to get employed now is too difficult, chances are extremely slim. You have to maximise your skill or learn some valuable skills you can sell. And sell to the rest of the world not your neighbours. Being able to afford a house on bar work for the rest of your life just isn't possible. Working at Iceland full time doesn't even afford you a house either. Self employment is the way forward and use AI as much as you can to make your life easier. It's sad but that's just how it is
@@MonsterJuiced The key is to build something you can sell when you want to retire. I know loads of self employed folk who do really well, but when they want to stop, so does their money flow. I built a company (industrial supply chain) which though only small, could carry on without me. I sold it to my employees for enough to give me a very comfy retirement.
I stayed in the cotswalds last week in an Airbnb. It was in chipping Norton. The lane down the back had a huge mansion and I wondered who lived there. Every day during the week a helicopter would take off and fly directly over our Airbnb and fly to Central London. I used to watch it on flight radar 24. On the Saturday before we left I saw the same helicopter take off from the mansion, fly over our Airbnb and land at Oxford Airport a few minutes later. A plane then took off a few minutes later and went to the USA. No idea who lives there. Probably a royal or maybe an MP?
If you research your birth town, you'll find most places in the UK looked like this. Most these towns aren't even that old - sure some buildings may be original - yet many buildings will be recreations of architectural eras. Posh = old money/established families.
Damn it's unfortunate, all these places look so pretty but are so clogged up with cars it's hard to appreciate the historic beauty. I guess that's why I like places like York and Cambridge more, the historic city centers there are mostly car free, a lot calmer and prettier imo
Yup it certainly ruins the atmosphere. Not sure why they can’t just build a giant car park on the outskirts and make the squares car free. I guess people are too lazy.
Funny stuff indeed! So glad my Cotswolds town didn't make the mix, good old Chippy (Chipping Norton) - yep, that famed town of "The Chipping Norton Set", except nobody rich actually lives _in_ the town, they all live in the countryside around it. A little Labour town in a sea of Tory blue, down to earth, a little bit grubby around the edges, but as real as it gets. Still a working town ... just about. Sadly, time is taking its toll on the town - it's becoming more gentrified, slowly but surely. Still not posh - god help us if it does become that - but it looks like it may go that way. Once the cheapest of towns in the Cotswolds to buy a house, right on the very edge - but lots of development is starting to ruin it. Such is life.
Unsuprisingling none of these towns have a Wetherspoons. Only Cirencester has a Waitrose which is a but more surprising. Maybe these people are so posh they even Waitrose isn't good enough for them. Moreton in Marsh is the only town on this list with a railway station but all but Burford did once have a railway station.
Yea population. It also had over one million average. Not sure why I can’t stand the place. Was forced to go there all the time as a kid. All I remember is one pub and some vicious peacocks 😂
The crazy thing is, if you look up the index of multiple depravation, a lot of these places are pretty much average, especially the cotswolds constituancy itself. The neighboring constituancy of Tewkesbury is actually less deprived, despite Tewkesbury itself being a bit of a dive. I guess all the Cotswold dwellers spend all their money on housing so they can't afford anything else...
Went to college in Cirencester and spent a lot of time around people who live in the places mentioned on the list. One lad mentioned his father owning 5 BMWs and impromptu weekend trips to Venice like they were the most normal things in the world.

This is what I thought. Hon mention Broadway 1. Chipping Campden, 2. Burford; 3. Winchcombe; 4. Tetbury; 5. Fairford; 6. Nailsworth; 7. Wotton under Edge; 8. Lechlade. A few comments. I once knew somebody who rented a flat in Burford. It was tiny. Most of the houses are too small for habitation. You have to be a slow moving traffic lover to live in these places! The crime rate in Blockley looks to be high
Classic affluent English market towns. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of rolling fields which always seem to have FA in them. (The odd cow perhaps)
Nine out of ten of these places are in Gloucestershire although you always get other counties mentioned. A beautiful area.
Yep, and then you get to Gloucester itself....
@@ThatGuyRBY How is that relevant?
Gloucester is not in the Cotswolds. I live in Cheltenham and NEVER go to Gloucester. Some villages in the Cotswolds are 25 miles from Gloucester.
@@valeriedavidson2785 Interesting comment. I bet you're devastated the county is called Gloucestershire and not Cheltenhamshire.....and for the record Cheltenham is far rougher than Gloucester! Hesters Way....no thanks!!
@@jimmymac8993 Don't be stupid. All towns have poorer areas. Even Bath. Get real!!
@@ThatGuyRBY Look at the property prices in Gloucester and then look in Cheltenham. There is a vast difference. I think that answers your silly comment.
Loved this video and your so finny 😂. Just subscribed thanks
Im surprised you didn't mention Bradford on Avon. Depending on what map of the Cotswolds you use it just dips into the Southern most end. Worth a visit for sure.
T, can you please do a feature on North Wales ?
Places like Rhyl, Llandudno, Flint, Pwllheli, Caernarfon .... these places are dog rough.
The Cotswolds are much prettier than North Wales.
@@valeriedavidson2785The sky is blue and, water is wet.
We always have one of the Oxfordshire cross country races at Cirencester and, needless to say, it’s beautiful
Please review salisbury - could be in this collection. Scratch the surface and ...
Excellent script this episode.
Thanks. Not easy making fun of people who have everything 😂😂
Glad to see you calling out the car parks that often blight the centre of beautiful market towns. Surely people can park on the edge and walk for five minutes instead.
Burford is only making the top of the list in terms of average price is because of London influence. Broadway for me anytime😅
Broadway should have been number 8 really. I find the two places pretty similar?
Asking for the William and going to the local James threw me 🤣🤣🤣
If you want to eat in Stow there is a lovely small cafe called The Old Bakery. Highly recommend the homemade cream tea and their exceptional rich hot chocolate made with chocolate and cream! Always a favourite to swing by when in the area 😁
I’ve visited the Cotswolds many times. There’s some lovely places and the people might not be that welcoming in some of the locations but the scenery is great!
Very well written, I really enjoyed some of the dry satire and take it the maker isn't a Tory fan, lol.
Neutral all parties are bad on this channel 😂
@@Turdtowns likewise, same here!
Beautiful, tiny houses which you can actually live in if you happen to be dwarf-sized.
Or don’t mind bashing your head every morning
I think you meant 'vertically challenged'
The Bird Centre at Moreton in Marsh is excellent should anyone be passing by !
Please do TurdTowns in Cheshire.
the video would be 3 days long
I love Burford. Only been here once, but it’s got about 6 or 8 pubs. A curry house and decent shops. Plus it’s pretty as fuck. Each to their own I guess 😅
Came for the Regional inequality, stayed for the overly inflated house prices. 😅
Would be interesting to see a video on the Turd towns of Surrey, stereotypically being a posher county
Me too. I expect most of them are gated communities private roads etc
@@Turdtowns Was just exploring on Google Maps the absolute size of The Manor in Weybridge as a gated community
First half of my honeymoon was in Burford. Second half was in Wapping. Both very nice. 😀
You should request people make a pot of tea and cucumber sandwiches (no crusts) before watching this episode.
Never heard of some of these towns and probably will never go there either. Interesting though.
Im in the south of the cotswolds and i can confirm most of the houses in the village high street are owned by people from London now.Anyone born or brought up here has to live in an ex council estate or an ex MOD house.
I think everyone wishes Londoners would fuck off back to London.
3:40, I live here and the school kids do drink. In fact, I am one of those kids and the kids are menaces. Bricks through windows, alcoholic kids and everything. Tourists are also a massive issue to and some areas are actually pretty bad; there's no jobs either and you are paying to live in a place that looks nice really. Everywhere here is dominated by rich old people
I guess drinking a the only thing for you guys to do
@@Turdtowns ye, there's absolutely nothing here that isn't for 90 year-old millionaires and wealthy tourists
@@brandonrhys21just don’t become one of them. That’s always the danger 😂
@@Turdtowns I don't think I am at risk of becoming a millionaire hahaha
@@brandonrhys21you never know. Nothing wrong with being self made though, that’s something to be proud of.
Bourton on the water smells a bit better than venice
Probably on account of the perfumery.
Ahhh The Cotswolds. Where a children's home in the center of the lakes was closed due to ill treated and abused children. The security guard told me they found hidden letters that were intended for their parents back home documenting the abuse they suffered but obviously those letters were stashed away. Action for children and The Bruderhorf community were the ones that ran it most time. Just to let you know 😊
That is nothing to do with the beauty of the area.
@@valeriedavidson2785 No but it is most deceitful to portray somewhere to be so beautiful, outstanding and community driven with such dark pasts almost on their doorsteps.. I prefer to let people know my personal dealings with these areas as this is social media where we're allowed to say these things. Not like people don't have the right to know either... Do your research i'm not lying. :)
@@letteringtypes You would probably be able to find a dark past in most places in Britain. You have to leave that behind and as I said, it is nothing to do with the beauty of the area.
People have a right to know. These things shouldn't be shunned and ignored until forgotten. I'm not denying it's a beautiful place just spreading some truths before it's shoved under the rug like so many other child abusive and pedophile acts. @@valeriedavidson2785
Yes it is , their farts obviously do stink @@valeriedavidson2785
I think I would have put Chipping Campden above Burford. Oxfordshire is more expensive than Gloucestershire because it's closer to London.
Burford is right on the county line and nearly ALL of these beautiful places are in Gloucestershire.
But nearly all the Cotswold villages are in Gloucestershire. Tetbury is very expensive and not far from the M4 - ( Prince Charles home). There is only a very small part of the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire. I live in nearby Cheltenham and know all of them.
Everyone likes the smell of their own brewed fart! XD
Keep up the good content, hope you dont loose any more drones!

I grew up in Cirencester, the worst thing about it was the RAG students. Spending daddy's money and driving around in old land rovers with RAG stickers on the back. Generally be rude and obnoxious.
RAG?
@@Turdtowns royal agricultural college. I believe it's an university now.
What about the fact there’s hardly anywhere to park?
Have you covered plymouth? I went recently, never been, and thought as it appears to be a major landmark was shocked to be greeted with derelict buildings that once said "employment agency", then few chain shops in between empty "to let" shop spaces. whole place looks and feels unaccommodating and couldnt be there more than 1 hour before I have to leave, a true dump!
Too many carrot crunchers!😂

I thought that was Somerset 😂
Honestly, the 'Cotswold Cricket Museum' sounds like the single most Tory place on the planet.
Ayy? Chippenham is classed as Cotswolds - news to me, was born there, and have spent collectively 10 plus years there. Damn, all that time and I could have used "I live in the Cotswolds as a chat up line"
I spend a fair bit of time out Tetbury, beautiful gaff where my parents retired too👌🏻Decent shout out for the Gumstool Hill as well, that is one steep fucker!
Class episode and quite a turn up from the case study on Welsh valley shitholes😂🤦🏻
Thanks. Punching up is definitely more difficult. See how the views go.
Surprised you missed out Broadway. I work in Cirencester. There are some rough-arse parts I can tell you. Some houses have outdoor swimming pools and only one butler!
lol yeah I’ve lived in Cirencester my whole life and am just a middle class guy in a generic semi detached. But the most rough parts of ciren are normal for most of the UK.
The amount of left wing resentful 'kids' in these comments is so depressing. If you're unhappy with your situation then change it, nobody else is going to do it for you.
They won’t. It’s much easier to assume everyone pays no tax and has expensive accountants than to work hard and make money. 😂
Take a trip to Pembroke Dock you'll love it here 😂😂
😂😂 The best part of Pembroke Dock is the bloody Irish ferry leaving the dump.

Probably a royal or maybe an MP?
im from witney which is literally just outside the cotswolds (oxfordshire) and I love the cotswolds unfortunately I dont tlive there anymore
I can’t believe Tetbury made this list and I can’t believe Burford topped it.
These places always remind me of the lyrics of Pink Floyd's Dogs.
I live in Bulgaria and you could buy pretty much the whole village for the average cost of one house in Burford.
07:35 "Money-N-Pocket" WTF🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just a wee-bit down the road from "Money-N-Bank".
I love your vids
Unsuprisingling none of these towns have a Wetherspoons. Only Cirencester has a Waitrose which is a but more surprising. Maybe these people are so posh they even Waitrose isn't good enough for them. Moreton in Marsh is the only town on this list with a railway station but all but Burford did once have a railway station.
i want trurdtowns back they are hilarious
I'm surprised Bibury didn't make the list but I guess the population wasn't high enough
Yea population. It also had over one million average. Not sure why I can’t stand the place. Was forced to go there all the time as a kid. All I remember is one pub and some vicious peacocks 😂
Mummy buy tetbury for me ive been awful good at St John's Wood's American School of London
