Film description: Ten years after the 'Phantom Menace' threatened the planet Naboo, Padme Amidala is now a Senator representing her homeworld. A faction of political separatists, led by Count Dooku, attempts to assassinate her. There are not enough Jedi to defend the Republic against the threat, so Chancellor Palpatine enlists the aid of Jango Fett, who promises that his army of clones will handle the situation. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi continues to train the young Jedi Anakin Skywalker, who fears that the Jedi code will forbid his growing romance with Amidala.

This was madness. Petition to have Kenobi released immediately since he's your Padawan's Padawan. Plus he did needed Qui-Gon's help. He was the only person who can get Dooku out of this situation. See Obi-Wan never understood shit this is why he didn't like Obi-Wan. So short-sighted from the truth. Maybe joining Dooku might not be such a bad thing. Helping him take out Sidious best plan I heard. But he could give Obi-Wan at least a GENERAL idea of Darth Sidious if he wanted to, seeing as he may have been in league with Sidious but he never intended it to stay that way.

Honestly, I think a lot of people are missing what's going on here. First. Dooku is speaking in half truths. Nute Gunray was in league with Sidious in Phantom Menace. He's still in league with Sidious in Attack Of The Clones. There's no betrayal. Gunray knows that Sidious is Dooku's master. We even see him talking to Sidious in Episode 3.
Second, Dooku claims that several senators are under the control of Sidious. He doesn't say that Sidious is the damn Chancellor. Do you think Sidious always kept his hood up when talking to Dooku? Dooku knows that Sidious is Palpatine. Dooku telling Obi-Wan this information is part of the Sith's plan. Dooku wants to try to turn Obi-Wan but knows it's a long shot but at the very least, he can create tension and doubt within the Jedi if Obi-Wan somehow manages to survive Geonosis.
Remember, at the end of the movie, Obi-Wan tells the Council what Dooku said. The Jedi don't really believe it but decide to keep a closer eye on the Senate, just in case. This in turn leads into Episode 3 where the Jedi begin to suspect that something is up with Palpatine. They don't know that he's the Sith Lord but think that he might be under the control of the Sith, as Dooku suggested. The Dark SIde is clouding the Jedi's ability to sense the future and use the Force. Because of Palpatine's actions and Dooku's half truths, they even consider taking control of the Senate because they don't know how many people are under the control of the mysterious Sith.
The Jedi only learn the terrible truth because Palpatine revealed it to Anakin. They learn the truth of Sidious' identity precisely when Sidious wants them to, knowing that Yoda isn't there to give his wisdom and stop Mace from charging in and that Obi-Wan isn't there to talk sense into Anakin and this serves to not only set up the situation where Anakin can be turned but also set the Jedi up as traitors who tried to take over the Republic, thus justifying Order 66.
All of it stems from the half truths Dooku told in this scene at the behest of Sidious. Sure, Dooku probably thinks if he could turn Obi-Wan they could attack Sidious together and Dooku would be the Sith Master but that was always a long shot. Dooku did exactly what Sidious wanted him to do in creating mistrust between the Jedi and the Senate.

It would have been interesting if these three movies were about Obi-Wan being tempted by the Dark Side. For instance, using it to win battles (while losing the war anyway), and going on a revenge kick because Darth Maul kills Qui Gon and runs away. Then he rejects the Dark Side so they go after his apprentice, who was taught "do as I say, not as I do."

Jedi weren't informed Palpatine is a Sith Lord. It was only Mace Windoo, who opportunistically attacked Sith Lord with a help of two Jedi. He clearly didn't inform other Jedi on a council, though it was very easy as we saw numerous times. Also, Mace in no way informed the Senate in which name he falsely stated acts. In fact, there is zero clue why Mace Windoo decided first, to arrest Palpatine, as he said, and, next, to kill him. There is very little to no reason to not believe it was Mace Windoo all this time who clouded vision of Jedi, as he was always present in Jedi meetings. As clearly corrupt, arrogant, constantly bullying others Mace no doubt mastered the dark side of the Force and saw himself as a true master of Jedi and Republic. As most powerful Jedi, in lightsaber arts at least, Mace left at Coruscant instead of going to war like most of other Jedi. He suspected that this could be the right moment to size power and something suspicious is happening around. Yoda suspected something fishy about Mace and his stay raised eyebrows of many Jedi. But there was no time to think, especially after Mace successfully led a massive number of the best Jedi into pointless death against brainless droids at Geonosis. He swiftly dispatched this way many of his potential rivals and clouded vision of Jedi council members so the latter didn't even question Mace's tactical decision. Only he genuelly believed in Dooku's words. Darth Sidious was his Nemesis, as he was eager for power and domination as much as Dark Lord of the Sith, which he was. Note, Yoda feel Mace's death, did not. Either because the latter was a Sith Lord, either because he survived that fall (again, confirming he was a Sith Lord). Clearly, it was Mace, Dooku spoke of. He influenced Jedi council and the Senate to use army of clones and fueled a war. He knew his time has come and it was thanks to Annakin who at the last moment cut his arm. Darth Sidious knew he is no match against Mace, Dark Lord, and needs help. He couldn't rely on Jedi council he was well aware of was clouded by the dark side of the Force by Mace. Annakin was his only chance. Though, if Mace survived (which is very likely), he had gone into hiding and awaits his moment to rise as the next Dark Lord of the Sith Order to rule the Galaxy, finally.

There is an episode of the animated series The Clone Wars (season 6) where Obi-Wan and Anakin set out to find out what happened to the Jedi who had decided to build the clone army. They end up on the Pyke world where one survivor is there but Dooku shows up and kills him. In the melee that resulted, the head of the Pykes refers to Dooku as Tyrannus, to the shock of Obi-Wan. And Dooku tells Obi-Wan he told him the truth years ago on Geonosis about the Sith Lord running the senate (Sidious). This is where the Jedi realize the clone army (originally conceived by a Jedi who saw what was coming) was taken over by the Sith and given to the Jedi. And they decide to keep that a secret from everyone. Mace Windu wonders if this is the right thing and Yoda says no, not the right thing but the only path they have been given. Anakin was visibly unhappy with the council's orders to keep this a secret.
