    Ordered the exact same trim GTI 380 manual , love the power to weight . Purchased the manual as it's the last year VW is offering it in the GTI. Got love the Kings Red should fit it with the other four red vehicles we have.

    I owned an MKV and VI GTI and I think the car has evolved over the years but 43k is a lot of money and what I noticed with the trim levels is as you move up the trim line you lose the bang for the buck so to speak. Perhaps the bargain is the base GTI with cloth seats which I feel are miles better than the budget leather seats VW offers. Also the wheels and sunroof are personal preferences. I’m not a fan of those wheels and I wouldn’t go with a sunroof if I was in the market to buy one of these but that’s just me. 13:12

    Great review, Sam. Thanks for that again!
    4IL with 240hp, that’s no slouch definitely. Bear in mind that’s the same power output a regular MB C 300 until 2018 had. So, great engine.
    I have to agree with the haptic buttons. Not a big fan of the “simplification” trend of manufacturers when all what they are doing is cutting down on costs with things that are more distracting and draw your attention from the road (like screen embedded interfaces). Real buttons with real feedback to your touch while your eyes are on the road, that will never get old. But I guess I will be called a dinosaur now…
    Maybe that’s why EVs will drive autonomously, for the 90% of drivers that suck when they are behind a wheel…
    Peace!

      you can get gain horsepower GTI. get APR. tuning flash about gain 75 horsepower over stock and torque about 108 bls . The APR Stage 1 and Stage 2 ECU upgrades are designed for use on the factory turbocharger. The ECU alone with no hardware mods produces 328-375 HP and 391-427 FT-LBS with +63-105 WHP and +96-129 WFT-LBS over stock. By adding hardware such as our intake and intercooler, the tune automatically jumps to Stage 2 power levels and produces 345-392 HP and 391-428 FT-LBS with +76-122 WHP and +96-131 WFT-LBS over stock.

      Nothing wrong with driving a slower car fast imo. I see plenty of crossovers with 150hp racing around. Also GTI isn't an appearance package when it has a performance advantage over a regular golf. 270~ (underrated) crank hp in a 3100lb car is plenty for a bit of zip. The S model at low 30's is a good deal for performance, practicality and fuel economy in regards to a new car. Ofc a 60k sports car is going to outperform it.

    • @karlkronic
      @karlkronic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@basslover352 I disagree. Racing through traffic for excitement because your car is otherwise unthrilling is irresponsible and gives actual street racers a bad name. • @basslover352
      @basslover352 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@karlkronic Different strokes for different folks. This is why I like cars like the gr86, Miata and slower but fun cars that can do twisties well. GTI has plenty of good handling characteristics (more so mk8 than previous gens) Power is not the only factor. I've also driven a 2021 M5 comp, mustang 5.0 and a few other fast cars so I can say for sure what is important to me. I don't drive recklessly around others. if I see an open stretch I might do a short pull or an open corner I will chuck my car into it. This gives me thrill and the GTI has a decent bit of it. I've also driven the competitors like the WRX and new gr Corolla and the GTI isn't lacking that much in the fun to drive factor to me. It's like 8.5/10ths in fun factor compared to the GR while your average 4 cylinder sedan is a 3 or 4/10. Probably helps I drive stick cars only. You can put the car down all you want but doesn't change the fact that I still have fun in it because of how it drives. Weaving in traffic dangerously is not fun for me and I just feel like an asshole if I did that. Arguably putting yourself in a 600 hp AWD car is more dangerous. I felt I'd go to jail real quick driving that m5. Let's be honest if you have something like that you will be doing 0-80 or 100mph. You're not doin 0-40 pulls on a street. If you enjoy fast launches more power to you I loved them but it wasn't the only thrill factor. The GTI also is by no means slow, just sucks from a dig. Highway pull is on 370z level. Maybe not a fast car by today's standards but still a bit quick. If I wanted more I could throw a tune on it and make about 300whp or mid low 300's with some bolt ons Pretty respectable out of a light car.

    Out of the 2 other cars in the same category, the golf is the worst by a landslide. Worst performance. Worst interior. Worst features. Not saying it's a bad car. It's a great car. But the type r and EN, are far better including longevity abmnd reliability.

    • @basslover352
      @basslover352 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't say a landslide. If you value comfort and practicality more than gti wins. Performance wise it is probably 8/10's of the other two in terms of driving thrill. Still much more sporty than your typical compact/sedan in the 20-40k range. I am happy with mine and that's even after driving a corolla gr my friend has. Though the GR is probably a bit more rounded on the edges than the elantra N if that's your thing. IMO they are all good choices, just depends on what your preferences are.

    Don’t get fooled ladies and gents. Buy your own Lip Spoilers for cheaper and better downforce. These are the same things as before. I got the special edition and that stands out more in terms of look and options. Seems like Sam is just advertising for VW now. Before he wasn’t so impressed with 40th anniversary if you watch his video. Now because it’s more expensive and fully loaded he is pushing it big time 😂
    Point is don’t get fooled. Buy whatever you want and buy the extra parts from aftermarket rather than from VW
    They stick them with glue and carelessly
    I witnessed how those parts install, they are installed with glue and drilling don’t damage your car for bunch of parts that get old and damaged after few thousand clicks.

    I have personally found the manual transmission in the GTI and the R, well, sloppy. It's not very precise or notchy and it feels almost loose in it's "connection" while the clutch travel seems somewhat long.It's certainly not Honda manual quality and the manual in my 2024 WRX even seems better, tighter and more precise and confident. The DSG is fantastic except for the times at low speed/ low rpm when the DSG hesitates and almost feels confused. It's a shame the manual isn't better. It's not horrible, it's just not stellar. And ......it's gone next year. Over, Bye. Gone. Forever. Sad.
