A very thorough and informative video about removal & replacement of starter the starter motor and the potential problems with them by a professional. Excellent!
Brilliant video - thanks so much aaanton11. You gave me the detail and confidence needed to replace my broken VW Polo 2007 1.4 SE TDI starter motor. So grateful. Replaced it with a £60 (off ebay) reconditioned Bosch starter that fired up first time! Probably took me at least 10 times longer than you took to do the job, but it was good fun, I have never dared do anything like this before. You have saved me probably £150-200 in garage labour costs and I am so grateful. Promise I will at least send you a beer.
thanks for this . Just did one on my lads 2008 polo today. The bottom bolt was a bastard, had to use a breaker bar but got it in the end. Cheers again mate
Interestingly on my VW Polo 2007 1.4 SE TDI did not need to do this, the gear selector already had sufficient clearance so didn't need to do any loosening of the selector bolt/nut to move it upwards
Afternoon Fella. Great video as always. Full of great information. Thought you'd succumbed to the Kung Flu.... Seeing you've blanked my WhatsApp msg's since 17th Feb. Keep up the good work Ant. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200
@@aaanton11 Just done my cousins Polo, you are right, that is a bolt! stupid design lol Only have to lift the gear selector a tiny amount to get it out. Glad I watched your video. Thank you.

Great video which correctly shows that gear selector must be moved out the way to get the top bolt out. Haynes manual misses that out.
Thanks for the info! & Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

The top one is a stud not a bolt, the nut is meant to come off without the leaving the stud in place!! Good luck with that after 15 years lol
