Check out About Oliver himself: www.youtube.com/@AboutOliver And of course, the full streams: th-cam.com/play/PL68V5Cxs_CvTOxamvSacuCQ8mruxnnQ7X.html I loved Oliver's playthrough of Rain World because of his unique style of playing games. He immerses himself in the game world, experiencing it in a way that few others do. This supercut compiles the most important and funny moments of his playthrough, with a compression ratio of nearly 1 to 10. When deciding whether to exclude or include something in the video, I mostly chose to include it, as passing on the entire experience was more important to me than creating a shorter compilation of the events. The video chapters group the video into individual streams and list the visited areas. I hope you enjoy watching the 5 hours of Rain World and if you still don't have enough, go check out the rest of the streams! By the way, I know that this is quite different from my usual content. Seeing how I will most likely never return to creating BotW/TotK glitch-related content, I somehow navigated myself into a dead end with this channel. I'm saying it now, that this video is an experiment: It does not mean that I will necessarily always upload supercuts or compilations from now on. I created this video because of a recent personal event that gave me a lot of free time, which I used to create this video. It took a LOT of time, that I will most likely not have any time soon again. I do not know what the future of this channel will be, but I can guarantee that it's not going to be consistent in terms of upload times or style. If this is not your kind of content, I understand that. I'm just going to do whatever feels right! I just noticed, I seem to have duplicated the "Random Gods" soundtrack at 2:49:00 from the transition before that. That's on me!
there is certainly an audience for longform content, don't just chase the meta. theres another channel that does a lot of outerwilds supercuts so maybe you could do rainworld
Watching new players meet up with the moon for the first time before the mark of communication is like introducing two pets to eachother and your not sure if blood will be spilled or not
TomatoGaming used to use Rain World as a "Wind Down" game back when he did inhumanely long streams. He stopped after a few sessions cause he "would end each stream feeling like he was on the verge of a heart attack and had a few nightmares". Honestly wish more people would stream this game
He was surprisingly spot-on with a lot of his theories. the fact he could immediately recognize the fact that the ancients built above the clouds to avoid the rain was a cool moment, it was fun seeing the way it suddenly clicked for him
Yeah, he had quite a good understanding of the lore at the end, he just constantly makes up theories and some of the time these are pretty good. I cut out quite a lot of incorrect ones (spacetravel, aliens, etc), but still!
@@Skyball I like his silly space travel theories because they remind me of the mindset I take on while playing Journey or Hyper Light Drifter where there's only visuals to convey the story, no exposition or text
Man this is really sick I'm so glad you decided to supercut this. I hope you decide to try to supercut his dlc playthrough of the game I'd be excited to see that of course that would be a lot of work just something to consider.
Nice! I watched the first few streams of his and then only skimped for the major bits liek first times in the survivor playthrough and the first few minutes as the downpour slugcats, can't wait to see what I missed in his survivor playthrough!
Yeah, his route was crazy, so different from what the "expected" path would be for a first time player. That's also a big part of why I wanted to make this supercut, just because it's so special and he just really allows himself to get lost in the world, without worrying too much about how much time it takes and so on. I think I wrote that somewhere in the description as well, but I would really like to do the same for the rest of the downpour cast. The only problem is that I really don't have the time right now for that. Maybe sometime in the future!
my first run was 62 hours before I reached an ending and it was very impactful. I've since played hundreds of hours especially with the dlc out and once got moon to 57 neurons before accidentally corrupting my save file.
I'd recommend you check out the pinned comment! I'm not Oliver, I'm simply the person to have made this supercut from the raw footage from Oliver's stream. So, redirect all those cudos onto his VODs! www.youtube.com/@AboutOliver But I'll take your compliments for the editing every day
When he ate the 2 neurons and saved.... I was not ready for that turn of events haha. Rain world has a main plot, yes, but the *story* is written by you playing it - every choice, every action and every decision make each playthrough unique. And I found this playthrough to be one of the best ones I've seen - in terms of the path he took and in terms of how and when and what he figured out, etc. And seeing this incident happen after watching this beautiful story unfold for 3 hours felt like if, at the end of Saving Private Ryan, there was a scene where he gets home and right before he sees his family he gets hit by a truck.
A recurring label that this game gets is that it's "post-apocolyptic" when in reality it's much closer to "post-mass exodus". The Ancients never really faced any over-looming threat but they DID have a problem. The problem of eternal life.
I’d say there was an apocolypse given that the ancients said the surface was basically rendered uninhabitable and that’s where the game is set. It’s like if you had a game set in a nuked city, but humanity lives on outside the city. There was no apocolypse, but the game is kinda still post apocalyptic

Some tried to do so every time he tried a new slugcat, but he generally didn't feel like doing it. I think he thought it would simply be a harder survivor.
It's not my play through, check out About Oliver, he's the mind behind the playthrough! I took the footage and compiled it into a supercut. But yes, I agree that anytime Oliver made any kind of sensible progress, he turned around and went into the opposite direction, often even using passages for that. But I felt like exactly that made to playthrough interesting and refreshing compared to others!
Edit: just found out this isn’t actually Oliver, oops. Pretend I said all of this to him This was awesome to watch! Redirect those kudos directly to Oliver! I simply took the raw streams and cut them into a big supercut. But I fully agree! His play style is amazing and this is why I chose to take on this task in the first place.
I felt like leaving out too much would not properly convey Oliver's playstyle, so it ended up only having a compression ratio of 1:10, but that's already a lot of death and failed attempts cut out. Does that mean that any time he succeeds at something, he failed 10 times before that? Maybe not, but it's funny to think about.
@@Skyballtbh he played better than most player(including me) and 1:10 ratio didn't make the video too short lol. Really appreciate your hard work on deciding the best parts from each streams and making it easier for anyone to watch it!
I'll do it... eventually... Considering that I have a lot of work right now and the first video here took me over 80 hours to make, I can't promise anything, but I'll promise that it will come eventually.
If you had read the pinned comment or the description, both of these questions would have already been answered ;-) Check out Oliver's channel, they are in a playlist there, or directly via the link in the pinned comment!
All the time the game gives him hints as to what to do, there is a ton of food, etc. and he just refuses to acknowledge any of it and instead fumbles about... really painful to watch
I think most of the time he did quite well with understanding the game mechanics. Only because you and I know what the overseer symbols mean, does not mean that a first time player recognises them as well. I think it's quite remarkable that he still manages to achieve this much in the game, and never gives up, even if he makes mistakes. Sure, he makes mistakes, but that is also why this supercut exists, so that you don't have to see 90% of them because I cut them out.

@@Skyballand no tree doesn't fall after the tenth strike, a small proverb from where I live ;]
Amazing. Will there be a supercut of the other scugs?
I'll do it... eventually...
Considering that I have a lot of work right now and the first video here took me over 80 hours to make, I can't promise anything, but I'll promise that it will come eventually.
@@Skyball where can i find the vod for the next campaign?
If you had read the pinned comment or the description, both of these questions would have already been answered ;-)
Check out Oliver's channel, they are in a playlist there, or directly via the link in the pinned comment!
nice work, this must've taken a bunch of time to edit
Danish content creator!! Yippie!!!!
What fate a slugcat?
2:56:24 did you ever figure out what they were doing orrrrrr
He was told at the end of the final stream by chat, but he guessed so by then already
Sure, he makes mistakes, but that is also why this supercut exists, so that you don't have to see 90% of them because I cut them out.
i love this vudeo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:29:41 if link doesnt show then search five pebbles dance godbey ** but comments have spoilers beware
More rain world Please!!!😍
I can't promise anything, but I'll try my best over the next few weeks!
Hunter; then DLC timee
He played through all of downpour, but not hunter sadly. But that's okay, we got so much more rain world than I expected in the first place.
