    Joe's having panic attacks, brought on by beginning to care for Ellie and remembering the lose of Sarah..

    • @anthonyramirez9003
      @anthonyramirez9003 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      As someone who suffers from mental illness issues. I would venture to say that Joel is having an anxiety attack and not a panic attack. The difference between the two is that that a panic attack comes on suddenly, usually from some external stimulus . An anxiety attack is something that builds over time and then comes out. The anxiety, and doubt about if he could keep Ellie safe and the fact that he was coming to the realization that he was beginning to care for her, and what happened to his daughter, was slowly building in Joel, and then came to a head.

    • @control2XS
      @control2XS 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anthonyramirez9003 pretty iffy whether "anxiety attacks" are a thing, as opposed to just like "an attack of severe anxiety", where as a panic attack is a very well defined thing. You can also have limited symptom attacks, which are essentially just milder panic attacks.

      @@control2XS Well as someone who has been in and out of hospitals. And actually had a so called therapist tell me that I need years of therapy just to 'fix' me. Her words not mine. I think I know. A panic attack and an anxiety attack are two separate things. Define all you want. Experience it. Then come back and tell me the "difference".

    • @TombRaiderSyd
      @TombRaiderSyd 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anthonyramirez9003 I've suffered from panic attacks from no apparent external stimuli but a build up of anxiety over time. You can just have them completely out of nowhere, my ears rang, heart raced and had a sense of impending doom. Joel is definitely having suffering from panic attacks. Anxiety attacks put me in hospital, panic attacks were more fleeting and intense but anxiety attacks lasted all day for me.

Instead of the strict tone Joel takes with Ellie in the game, in the show he's almost begging her not to bring Sarah up because he can't bare to think about her

    Pedro Pascal’s monologue was such a masterclass in acting. He was able to convey such strong emotion where you felt the fear of losing another child and how broken he felt. The show is doing a good job of weaving Joel’s failures into the narrative in order to add more nuance to the Joel and Ellie dynamic. It makes him feel more vulnerable, and that vulnerability makes him feel more human and relatable. His pain is very tangible thanks to the expert writing and masterful performance by Pedro Pascal. Such a good take on the source material where they are basically sticking to all of the beats, but just emphasizing certain little things that I feel adds to the piece. It feels very true to the source material while also providing its own flavor.
    And Joel and Ellie’s confrontation was the culmination of their relationship building since the first episode. All of their emotions just came bubbling to the surface and delivered such an emotionally powerful scene. This was one of the moments that they had to get right and I think Pascal and Ramsey pulled it off. Pascal and Ramsey were able to pull that off.

    Wise choice making Tommy a father. Helps to compare and contrast him with Joel, and points back to the thesis statement of the show. The juxtaposition between Maria and Joel was also well done. We see their tragedies side by side with Kevin and Sarah, yet Maria healed by leading a community through cooperation, while Joel healed through violence as he didn’t know any other way. Even Tommy’s relationship with both works as a parallel as Joel and Maria pull on different sides of Tommy. Tommy is a lost man looking for a home, and we see his different modes of behavior when led by Joel versus when led by Maria. Such a great dynamic.

Joel having PTSD for loosing Sarah and now being scared af of losing Ellie, man that convo with Tommy made me emotional. The "you have no idea what loss is" dialogue was executed to PERFECTION, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are fucking killing it, they did exactly the same. Oh yeah, THE TOWN FROM TLOU 2?! HELLO, YES! (Shoutout to Dina also)
    They way the episode ended... man, had me crying even tho I know what's gonna happen. Pedro Pascal was the MVP this one, such a great episode, not one miss

    I’m glad someone gets this mans is upset cause he came across the country to find his presumably injured if not dead brother and lost HIS PARTNER in the mean time to find out no, Tommy didn’t need help. He just decided it was ok to cut Joel off indefinitely. Shit would be a huge hit, especially when all Joel has seen of his brother growing up is a guy jumping place to place looking for belonging, and running when anything goes wrong, now making the biggest commitment ever, one Joel feels like he failed at. And every day his brothers kid is alive is a day his brother is a “better dad”.
    I’m sorry I have a lot of Joel feels.

    Copied from another video I made this comment but, as a Navajo, I'm loving the inclusion of different indigenous tribes in various shows/movies I've come across (Prey, Rutherford Falls, etc.) so, of course, the Wind River couple at the beginning made me laugh so hard. It's because it's EXACTLY how I would imagine some of my relatives being if they ended up being cooped up for years on end with each other; they're restless and stubborn. It's reminiscent of how some of them acted during the pandemic. lmao.
    But this episode was so beautifully well done especially the town of Jackson. It's such a comforting sight compared to everything else that has been shown especially in the inner cities. Pedro and Bella absolutely deserve many award nominations for their stellar work on this series. They ARE the quintessential Joel and Ellie.

    In the beginning, Tommy was the fuck up, and Joel was the caregiver, provider, and protector. Suddenly, Tommy's life is on track, and Joel's is a mess. His identity is challenged while at the same time he is faced with the fact that his brother found heaven, but Joel was "the wrong kind of people" so he wasn't allowed in (and his brother agreed by his actions, regardless of what he says). Then he is becoming attached to Ellie, and he is having more panic attacks in fear of losing her, as well as him having to come to terms with his need for assistance as his body fails (again his identity of caregiver, provider, and protector is challenged when Ellie helps him, etc). It's too much, and he breaks down. The panic attacks are a perfect edition.
    To be fair, communism works well in smaller groups, and most countries that are claimed to be communist aren't actually communist. They are communist+fascist or communist+necrocracy+fascist or communist+capitalist, etc. Comparison is nuanced and tricky.

    Loved this episode, but I thought the university part could have been a little longer. And I still don’t get why Joel pulled out the bat. In the game it made sense for him to ask Ellie to pull because it was the only option, but idk why he didn’t just leave it in in this version. Isn’t it more dangerous to pull it out? But other than that this episode was fantastic, and had some top notch character moments.

    You have four chances to take the football 10 yards forward. If you do, you get four more chances to do it again. If you ever fail then the opponent team will take over and go the opposite way.
    If you get into your opponent's end zone you score 6 points, a touchdown.
    After a touchdown you get a chance to get the ball 30 yards into between upright poles and score 1 point, an extra point.
    If you don't think you can get close enough to get a touchdown, you can try kicking the ball the distance between the uprights and get 3 points, a field goal.
    If the team without the ball, Defense, forces back the team with the ball, Offense, all the way back to the Offense's end zone and tackle one of their players holding the ball in their own end zone or if Offense commits a foul in their end zone or if Offense drops the ball in their own end zone then the Defense scores 2 points, a safety.
    Those are the main ways of scoring in football. That tends to be the focus of the game, advancing the football, scoring or blocking them. Understand those and you'll understand most of the game.

I thought at first this was going to be another build up episode like 4 but they did a lot in this one and the ending left me shocked af. Pedro Pascal absolutely stole the episode for me. Not to take anything from Bella Ramsey at all but the scene between Joel and his brother...my goodness. I think he's a very underrated actor. I can see this show joining my list of favorites. This to me is the best HBO show to come out since GoT ended excluding mini series like Chernobyl. House of The Dragon was really surprisingly great too but I honestly think The Last of Us might just be a smidge better. Next Sunday cannot come fast enough 😫

The show however has combined the scene of joel and ellie reaching jackson already built up. It has taken part 1 and 2 and combined it all.
