She's literally a professional vocalist, songwriter and just entertainer in general. It's all she's done since she was a small girl.

Omg as someone who likes a lot of her songs I would tell her don't do rock covers because it sounds bad. If she covers any genre other than her normal genre it has to be country. I don't even think i dislike her as a person any more as much as i used to in the past! She clearly has changed drastically in the last 5-6 years and these changes made her way more interesting person than she ever used to be! She matured up, cut all the bs and basically transformed into completely different person! And i like now what i am seeing! Ever since she changed her image drastically, stopped singing bubble gum crap pop and cut all the nonsense regarding her piblic behavior - she became way way more likeable!

Hey I’m a hardcore Metallica fan and I have to say Miley has an amazing voice and can sing whatever she wants to! Metallica put it out there for anyone to cover any song off the black album. Proceeds went to charity. It was amazing. This interview also has a heartfelt part where the Elton John praises Metallica and this song. It almost brought hetfield to tears.
What’s underrated here is James ability to sing back up…he fuckin nailed every harmony to the note, played fantastic guitar…played the lead perfectly….oh, and also wrote all of it!!!
Not sure how long you have been a fan of Metallica but at one point around Puppets, he wanted to do just this. He just wanted to be the 2nd guitar player and do backup vocals when needed

What's awesome about this performance, is that James takes a back seat and allows Miley to be front and centre. He doesn't need to inject himself into the song, but let's her have her moment while essentially performing as her backing band.
Miley honestly gets too much hate. Yeah, she puts out pop songs to make money, but she does so much more that really shows her artistry. I would really love to see her release a rock album.
You'd love Plastic Hearts, it's pretty much a full on rock album from her. Great lyrics and instrumentals throughout along with her usual stellar vocals

We can't stop and frankly most of her hip-hop era was vapid BS with the sole propose of excluding herself from Disney (which I dont blame her for) but her musical talents were not on full display back then. It was really when She is Coming came out that things REALLY took off and even some of her Dead Pets album (like Karen dont be sad) showed she had some artistic ambition even if the whole album was a bit of a mess. Her artistry, I think, was all fully realized in Plastic hearts, which I think will only get more appreciation with time as more people re-discover her after the success of ESV.
This was before 9am in New York. Nothing should sound this good live at 9am. But all of Alanis’s performances and Harry Styles doing Sledgehammer on Stern are easily among my favorites from Howard’s show.

I was never a Miley fan. I liked maybe two songs of hers. Until her "Plastic hearts" album. Since then I listen to everything she releases and I love everything she puts out. I think that she finally found her voice and isn't afraid of experimenting and searching forward. I just can't recommend her art enough. You should deffinitely hear some more Miley.

She made a decent one but she doesn’t stick to a genre enough to master it. Even her newest pop record isn’t even a good pop record as someone who listens to both genres. I hope on the next one she gets more rock producers so it’s not as polished.
thank you for reacting to this! i might not have listened to it otherwise. i'm a fan of all things music, but metallica is my favourite band. in my opinion, their first five albums are all masterpieces. i like the black album a lot more than some metallica fans do. for me, this was a gem! i loved it. miley took it down a bit when james joined her on vocals so she didn't owerpower him, but then belted out her own parts in a way that made me look at the song a bit differently. really great sound, great version, i enjoyed it immensely. 🥰🙂

She made a decent one but she doesn’t stick to a genre enough to master it. Even her newest pop record isn’t even a good pop record as someone who listens to both genres. I hope on the next one she gets more rock producers so it’s not as polished.

There are songs that can never be improved upon because they've been perfectly designed. This song is one of them.
Don't know anything else by Miley except for that wrecking ball joke. She is great here. great. I am probably the longest running metallica fan here.

thank you for reacting to this! i might not have listened to it otherwise. i'm a fan of all things music, but metallica is my favourite band. in my opinion, their first five albums are all masterpieces. i like the black album a lot more than some metallica fans do.
for me, this was a gem! i loved it. miley took it down a bit when james joined her on vocals so she didn't owerpower him, but then belted out her own parts in a way that made me look at the song a bit differently. really great sound, great version, i enjoyed it immensely. 🥰🙂
