you should try just drilling 2 screw holes on the weir box,not slots,the drain down through the slots is huge,the water was already running before the water level reached the weir comb
Mu rule is normally to make as big as possible that looks to scale. The important factor is the amount of water you want to move through the system and that will help determine the overflow bend.
I'm sorry, but you caaled this video "how to build an overflow box", but you didn't actually show how to do it. You explained "I'm going to do this". Then you did it off camera. Then you said "now that I've done this now I'm going to do that" and did that off camera. If you're going to make a how to video you need to show exactly how to do it. Some of us actually need to see what you're doing in order to understand your explanations.

How to quiet down the outlet?
A sponge helps, large holes, as it can get blocked and cause issues.
