it's super interesting to see someone from outside the alttp speedrunning community approach this challenge because you basically break every rule. No-hit in this game has traditionally always existed as "Low% no damage" which has been completed twice ever as of last summer, and we also have a OHKO romhack which has been completed with Low% rules by 10 players ever with any number of hits.
The current world record for Low% OHKO was only 7 minutes slower than the Low% record at the time and just happens to also be damageless because Xelna is an absolute god tier speedrunner.
So all of that said it's pretty interesting to see a any% no damage route (this is a first of its kind that I know of) and huge congrats on being only the second person ever to beat this game with no damage.

Thank you. I started these "Flawless" challenges after completing Ninja Gaiden about 3 years ago. I approach them very differently than speedruns (even though I do have a timer) I use the timer to gauge how long the attempt will be and whether I need to incorporate more speed strats to make the final goal not take as long.
Speedrunning is great its almost like a never ending way to play your favorite games. I speedrun any% Zelda2 on the NES and I think that I will be running that forever. Even when you get a WR it is only a matter of time before someone beats it and sends you back into the grind.
With the no damage or "flawless" runs its a singular goal and a personal goal. because speed is not required it opens the game up to be routed in any way that fits the player to best beat it without damage. I have been able to use some fun and interesting strats in games that will never be used otherwise because they are slow. Then in the end when you get your run, it is over you close the book on that game and unlike speedrunning you are finished. That feels good!
I really like both ways and you can see I have to playlists on the channel one for PBs in speedrunning and one for the Flawless runs. Thanks again for the comment.

Awesome run! I played through the GBA version so much when I was deployed out of boredom. I could get through the game in less than 3 hours without dying. I died so many times last time I played recently. I guess my older reflexes are not as fast.

There's probably going to be a *LOT* of commentary on my part, since this was a long-awaited damageless run that has finally come to fruition.
Goofy sighting at 6:44 . Mild spoiler for what happens roughly 2 minutes later.
You know the run's serious when there's no mention of "buttarang" at 11:39 before pulling the lever.
    22:25
It's always good to hear Chris Farley's voice, especially in alternate context.
I wonder how many people misread the label in the lower-right corner at 31:20 . 😆
    43:42
Ah, the extraordinary name change. We know what Lonk's true name is. **cough*BeDumb*cough**
    44:49
That's one of the things that makes the Zelda series so much fun. You don't need to complete the palaces, temples, dungeons, labyrinths, etc. in the precise order that Nintendo designed them to be completed. For example, in the First Quest of the original Legend of Zelda, I like to overworld grind for 6 hearts and the white sword before going into any labyrinths, and when I do enter labyrinths, the Manji is my favorite starting point even though the Eagle is designed to be completed first.
The guy at 48:44 loves pot every bit as much as the guy who was guarding Zelda's cell at the beginning.
    52:05
Ah, the site of the Skyrim joke. To his credit, one of the spear-throwers tried it again this time. Fortunately for all of us, he failed.
    1:10:46 and 2:08:56
Such pettiness. 🤣 *To be fair* , I'd be that petty with that guy too if I were in the billionth attempt at a damageless run and his RNG shenanigans ended too many to count. Also, I think you could be the Abbot and he would be the *HEY, ABBOT!* guy in Robin Hood: Men In Tights.
I love the Whac-A-Mole On Ice game at 1:54:18 .
If 1:55:15 didn't go as well as it did, that could have been the second time a Hookshot mishap ended a run in the Ice Palace. Which certainly explains the near heart attack you had.
Is that a frozen Digdogger at 1:57:50 ?
    2:16:05
That's my favorite item in Ocarina of Time, which is very similar to A Link To The Past in terms of ALTTP invented mechanics that OoT improved upon, but those mechanic improvements aren't why OoT is my favorite Legend of Zelda game. It's because of the cut scene after completing the temple in which the Mirror Shield is found. I enjoy watching that cut scene way more than most people on this planet think I should, especially considering it's a 25-year old cut scene.
    2:29:53
Lonk's just following the golden rule of the channel: "embrace the dumb". But was it really dumb if the run turned out to be a successful one? Speaking of the run being successful, there was no premature e-dove-ulation here. -Unlike in Super Mario Bros. 2.- Congratulations on yet another achievement in retro gaming. 👏

Sir, I tip my hat to you. I thought I knew this game damn well. Not quite to the point of speed running it outside that glitch after you save Zelda. I can beat it with zero deaths and 100% items collected. I know how to sequence break the game to become super OP fast. Even still I take a beating in the process.
