Many of these dislikes carried over from the 2021-23 models, sadly. And VW can't resolve (some of) them through over the air updates. I have a 2023 and generally enjoy it. Thanks for the video.
The Ioniq 5 still seems like the better car to me. Local dealerships are telling me that the 2025 Ioniq 5 might start arriving next month. I hoping to get one, but of course that depends on the availability and price.
This is one of the best reviews of the ID.4 for I have ever seen on TH-cam since you are on average car driver, not a full time car reviewer. I was seriously considering a ID.4 a couple years ago, but it had too many issues you highlighted. VW has definitely have made some improvements but it took like 4 years to see those come about. Even with this newer model you hit on some of the major issues of why I would not considerate it. Love my Volvo C40 instead.
Thanks for the review. I'm one of those on the fence about my first EV purchase. I appreciate the amount of information you packed into a short video. One thing: Piano black plastic is inexpensive. That's why it's everywhere, and customers' complaints aren't addressed.
Very helpful and glad to see you branching out. Would love to see a Mach-E review! As an Ioniq 5 owner I agree with almost all your pros and cons but I can no longer live without true 1-pedal driving.😐
I agree 💯 with everything you said. That's a rare thing these days! One thing you might not have noticed is when you're using the travel assist, if you're more comfortable hugging the left side of the lane or right side of the lane, you can do that! I've never seen other cars do that. I also think the ID4 has a more spacious cargo area than the ioniq5 if that's important to you. It's relatively short car, but makes use of the space very efficiently.
Just got the top trim and I agree with some of the cons, although not a dealbreaker here are the most annoying things: 1. Cars turns off immediately when you leave the seat - sometimes I run in the store with the family in the car. 2. Side windows not being double-layered 3. Retractable mirrors / but this is actually due to a parts shortage as the feature is listed in the promo booklet in Canada on all S trims. I have never experienced true one-pedal driving so I guess it’s makes my opinion of B mode a little less bias, but I just say I like it a lot.
Thank you for a good detailed review. I would just wish you could show some more clips of the details of the car. like when you talk about the ventilated seats, you could show some clips of the seats/perferrated holes!
Great video! I very seriously looked at the id.4 in 2022 while deciding on this, the Ioniq, or the Ford Mach-e. (I own a Mach-e now with 34000 miles and absolutely love it.). My wife has a 2017 Golf and we may want to replace it. The id.4 seems good. Surprised it doesn't have one pedal drive.
Thank you so much for this video. It seems like a work in progress on the ID.4. Could not agree more with you on all the points that need improvement. I test drove this car few years back and it was slow as molasses. Glad to see they are utilizing the 82 kWh battery (hope you felt the difference). Cannot wait for the new Ioniq5 model, especially once it will be manufactured at the plant in Georgia that should open this Fall. That will alleviate any issues with the federal and state (if applicable) credits in the future. I really appreciate your reviews, Corbin. Great job!
You didn't mention if the ID.4 supports V2L. Also, the Ioniq 5 Limited has a HUD that shows the car speed and other info which is not blocked by the steering wheel.
I really like the ID.4, but there are a few glaring things that keep me from loving it. The two biggies are, no heat pump, no one pedal driving, still not great charging speed, better, but not on par with the Hyundai/Kia eGMP stuff. The rest of it is just little annoying things. Like you said the 2025 refreshes are coming. Let's see how it stacks up then. I think VW infotainment is better than the Hyundai stuff now, but you only get that in the big battery upper trim versions. So many disconnects with VW. They have a car I really want to like, but they keep ruining it. Why VW can't you cut down on the confusing trim levels and make things standard across the various trims like the motor, infotainment etc. What a trainwreck. I can't seem to get a straight answer on the Hyundai/Kia cars regarding RWD and heat pumps. Seems to be conflicting info about battery heaters and heat pumps with the RWD versions. Any insight on the RWD cars and heat pumps and battery heaters?
Wow ! ??? Minute 12:30 It's not that quiet even at this over 45,000 MSRP price point because of the single pane glass used! So are you comfortable saying that even a 2022 IONIQ 5 SE is noticably quieter ?
@@TheIoniqGuy Thank you for noticing my question, so now I'm perplexed and stuck, can you help me and millions of other buyers in the land of decision on a used IONIQ 5? It seem's the biggest drawback is the possibility of slower /unstable Level 2 charging at home - but how widespread is this? Is it like 10% of all 2022 SE Trim models that year? is it more like 25%? or something terrible like 50% or greater? P.S. you seemed to fix your Level 2 problem, by disassembly and reassembly, so why can't I pay somebody to do the same? P.S.. What more do you know regarding the class-action lawsuit over this, and is it moving forward?
According the large survey I did a few months ago, 13% of E-GMP cars had issues with level 2 derating. There is now a software update that will dynamically raise and lower charging speed to keep temperatures in check. The class action hasn’t had any movement in a year so I don’t expect much to come of it especially now that they’ve greatly improved performance with the software update.
@@TheIoniqGuy OK, so it's not as widespread as I feared, perhap's as low as 5% of 2022 and 2023 IONIQ 5's SE model being effected? Even if it's 10% of the inventory, than the question for used EV buyer's for these models is: ???? How do I know if the software update was performed or installed sucessfully? Is there for example a specific update number or designation specific to this Level 2 charging update, in the ''update history'' ? I fear the dealership's might be clueless (especially non-Hyunani dealerships) if I bring this up: I am also assuming that 2nd owner's can go to a Hyundai dealership and ask them to check for this ''update'' if I'm not confident it was ever done, (so many times when you buy a used car, the current dealership have very little information about the previous history of repairs, or updates, etc..)

This is a great channel for everything ioniq, Spot on review on the 2024 VW ID.4.

The 2024 models are properly quick now. 0-60 under 5 sec.
It looks improved, but I agree that the Ioniq 5 is still better. I'm looking forward to the 2025 HI5 update!
Worst thing about the ID.4 is that many of the drivers can't figure out how to park in a considerate manner while charging.
😂
What do you think about the new id.7?
Will the 25 model have longer range?

I'm surprised the car's response to "my butt is warm" wasn't: yes, yes it is 😊
Ventilated seats in all VW cars (including Audi) are weak at best.
Good to know that it wasn’t a one off in mine. They really need to improve that
Totally! My Atlas' ventilated seats didn't used to do anything. But heating was OK.

Yeah the Ioniq 5 is much quieter
