    For those who are asking,
This is not MTA police responding
These vehicles with sirens are emergency teams
Called CAT teams (combined action teams)
Multiple departments responding in one emergency vehicle to a situation at a station, however making temporary repairs to get train service moving
Until the personnel in charge of that area arrives to make permanent repairs or whatever the matter is.

Not sure exactly what those are used for but I do know that anything that disrupts the subway system is treated as a huge emergency. One stuck train effects the entire system. If a person is murdered on a train its taken out of service and removed to the train yard for crime scene processing to keep the system running. If you were one of the thousands of people that could be stuck on trains that can't move through the system you'd be happy that they treat stoppages with such urgency.

Same on the London underground, The worst are the "one under" suicides o nthe track. The stations shut ever body is evacuated and the line can be shut for hours.

@@dcallan812 yes , absolutely. People here are killed on the tracks on a pretty regular basis, I mean like once every month. Of course the NYC subway system is massive and runs 24/7/365, but the priority is always to remove the body and get the trains running.

Yes contrary to what some believe, the MTA also has emergency response authority, and with clearance from the NYPD or State can shut whole roadways down. Usually if it happens a Superintendent calls it in and even if the NYPD doesn’t respond or gives clearance the state can issue a temporary injunction and allow the MTA to override command.

I agree but it’s most likely because the site has to be deemed safe before they do what they do. Because technically they aren’t really emergency first responders.

@@s2v8377 there has to be a reason for them. Are they transit police, maybe some form of ESU unit?

I’m guessing they’re are trained engineers and techs who respond to transit emergencies in the subways, etc. The FD and PD wouldn’t know as much as people that work for the MTA about how to shut off power to tracks, equipment, etc so that’s why these guys are given emergency vehicles to get there quickly.
