I saw this tutorial yesterday and then THIS happened: My 85 year old neighbor decided to move back home with her kids. They gave me several totes full of excellent fabric. Ordinarily I LOVE getting hand-me-down fabric, but this was different! I love my neighbor and want her to stay. 😟 But as I was sorting through everything, I found enough rose fabric to make several of these quilts. The first one (and if it's hard, the only one) will go to her. I hope these fabrics are full of happy memories for her. I'm so sad to be losing this neighbor, but so grateful for the timing of your video! At least now I have a healthy outlet for my energy!
*_Thank you for sharing Joy💛🌹 and how sweet of you to be giving her a quilt out of her own stash that she gave you💜 I love it when I get gifted nice fabric✅ what a blessing❤️_*
Oh my goodness, this rose garden quilt is a walk down memory lane from 60 years ago. My great grandmother had a rose garden and she would sit out there and quilt, take pictures of me and sing. It was the perfect country setting. I have to make one of these in her memory. Of course, I’ll never get to have memories like I did with my great grand babies, kids are so different today and yes I’m talking about my own grandkids who I have cherished for 28 years 😭😭😭
I could never make this from scratch, but I am thinking I could cheat and embellish a plain off white coverlet with your gorgeous flowers. Please don't hate me. I want a flower on a shirt too.
That’s a great idea! On my first attempt to make this quilt I did exactly that… I took one big sheet and put a bunch of these roses on it instead of making the blocks. It made a lovely quilt. 💛
This is absolutely gorgeous. I’m a beginner at quilting (never too late to start!) (I’m retired now), and this quilt sings to my heart and seems like something I could manage! Thank you so much for your lovely ideas and the time you take to make these very helpful and creative videos.
*_Jessica......and oh does it sing to my heart too 💛LOL😂 This is beginner friendly for sure.....Try out a sample rose with some scraps and see how it feels to you...if it seems easy enough then GO FOR IT!👍🏻_*
I made 3 of these quilts years ago. The pattern is called "French Roses". I made them for family and none to sell as it was copyrighted. I didn't put mine together that way, just sewed squares together. I did more sewing on my leaves. They're one of the prettiest quilt patterns I've ever seen. Nice work!
Thank you Virginia...my pattern is not copyrighted so feel free to use my technique to make✅ The pattern you are talking about uses templates...my technique is all "improv"💛
This quilt is stunningly beautiful. My bedroom is done in blue and pink roses and I currently have a rose commercially made quilt on my bed. It's nice, but nowhere near this pretty and lovely. When I make this quilt for my bed, I will use a pale blue background instead of a white one. I think I will keep the binding intact also. The most fun will be making the roses. :) Thanks for the laundry instructions, and thanks for putting this on your channel.
Such a neat idea. Gonna use all my scapes, buy several pair of scissors and get my granddaughters help me cut this out so they can get interested in quilting. Even stichig this by hand would teach them to use the needles. Awesome, thanks, thank you.
This is my very favorite quilt I’ve seen !! I’m definitely going to do this one ! Thank you so much !! And I love the wonderful music while just watching you sew without voiceovers so calming ! !
I have amassed a stack of yoyo circles over the years, different sizes and I was thinking a balloon quilt??? No, I think they will become roses!🌹 And the music was so peaceful, funny, it made the whole thing appear so doable and relaxing.
By far this is the best tutorial I've watched for making a quilt and I absolutely love it. I have been saving fabric (as all sewists do) waiting for the perfect project and this is most definitely it. Can't wait to make my quilt. I even have all of those same fabrics you are using in this video! It was meant to be! Thank you for your detailed instructions. It is greatly appreciated. :)

Initially I thought you were going to flip every other block upside down, so you'd have Rose's on either side, so there would be no right or wrong side. Beautiful quilt
I love this shabby chic style quilt, and a beautiful way to start FMQ for the first time. I will definitely try this soon. Thankyou for your tutorial 💞

Absolutely will be my next quilt. You just don't find beautiful and easy in the same quilt pattern. ❤ Thank you for the wonderfully detailed tutorial. 🎉
I just LOVE this quilt. Usually I make hand-pieced quilts with hexagonal pieces, but this has made me want to start one of these NOW, this minute! Thanks so much.

Hi Anne. Evidently these patterns are similar but the one that was for sale had templates I think. My design is all improv so totally different in my opinion ✅ this is one of my favorite quilts💛
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this!! I bought a bunch of Bella Solids white for another project, but I think your beautiful Frayed Roses just jumped in and took that fabric I ordered! WOW, love this soft, cozy and easy quilt so much!! Even the "binding" is easy and perfect!!
@@TheSewingChannel SO, this will be a little long, but I wanted to give you a quick update! I decided to make this quilt super-cozy and bought flannel for both the backing and "batting". Besides being cozy, flannel is so fray-y that I knew it would work great. I also decided to use a variety of low-volumes from my stash (since my Bella is still not here and I couldn't wait, LOL). I had also watched your video of quilting your crumb quilt (beautiful) and you also inspired me to finally take a chance on trying free motion quilting for the first time in my life! You said, "Try something new!" so I DID!! I WISH I could attach a pic of my first block...after two practice pieces, I went for it and free motion quilted a feather around the outer part of the block, prior to stitching the rose on. OH MY GOODNESS, it turned out GREAT!!!! Not perfect, but perfectly GREAT! LOL I have "visited" my block to marvel at it repeatedly yesterday and again today, just because I'm so thrilled. I intend to do a couple more today, before I lose my nerve, LOL. So THANK YOU, Tracy! And as you say, "Enough talking already...let's go free motion quilt some feathers!!"

I have to finish some not as fun projects but soon after, this will be next and not one bit afraid to start it and know I will love it and cherish it and it is for ME. Once I show it off I will be so busy.... I even love the binding...
Just watched this video and it brought me to tears. The music was precious and all I could think of what what a sweet soft blanket this would make for those you love the most. I love the way the edges will fray and soften over the years. Thank you!
This is so beautiful and I love that it can be made a block at a time. I’m new to quilting and being an arthritic 72 year old, need to find easier ways of managing larger projects. My daughter is getting married next year and I would love to make them a quilt, they both love their garden so this design as a rag quilt might be perfect. Thank you for sharing 🤩💕
This is my style of quilting!! No rulers(well, except for the blocks, no plans, lots of raw edges, and using what I have on hand, it's perfect! I now know what I'm doing this weekend! Thank you very much for sharing. You've inspired me more than you know. 💗💗💗
I just found your video. This is so brillant ! I have wanted to make one of these French Rose quilts for years. I can't do big whole quilts anymore because of a neuromuscular condition. This I can handle. My Granddaughters would love it ! Thank you. Great instructions !
Absolutely fantastic. I don’t know if I have the patience to do this but I can think of a couple of ideas to use this technique. Thank you so much. You are such a good resource for us. ❤️😎🐈⬛
I just made this quilt from a pattern I bought. Actually just pulled it off the longarm yesterday. However, because I have a longarm I approached the quilting differently. When cutting out the roses do not sew them to the block. Instead use washable fabric glue to hold all the layers together. Only glue small dots of glue, do not over glue. Sew the square blocks together and add borders just as you would when making a quilt top. Load the quilt on the longarm . When the top is on the longarm place one rose on a block and sew down with the longarm and quilt background of the block. Repeat throughout the quilt top. I had all the roses ready for placement. As soon as the binding is finished off to the washing machine.
This is so ironic. I saw this fabric line and immediately thought of it reminding me of my adult daughter Then when I search for the fabric line and found that it was by Chloe’s closet- lol. My daughter named my granddaughter Chloe. Have been looking for perfect pattern for this fabric. Thank you sew much!
I love this quilt. It looks easy enough for a beginner. Let me know if you think its to difficult for beginner quilter. I’m so glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing your art!
Oh my goodness I LOVE THIS QUILT! I’m not much of a quilter, I usually sew home decor and dresses and baby blankets, but I am definitely making this!!! It has everything I Love , Shabby Chic Roses, raw edge (chenille) quilt as you go and White fabric with pink roses!!! My favorites!!! I’m in love with this quilt!!!!! Thank you for sharing!😍💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
*_Thank you so much for the kind words Cheryl🌹.....It is really an easy construction and it's very forgiving as far as mistakes go...I made several mistakes in this quilt and I can't even find them now LOL😂_*
I love your quilt, and after reading it was like the french rose quilt someone made, I looked that up on youtube. I have to say, it was similar, but I like yours much better. Yours is done with all florals, no gingham. And your color choices were much more to my liking.
As I was watching this I wondered if I could not just create in on my hoop frame with a long arm. I would try the blocks first, but thinking ... Also wondered about flannel instead of batting and sewing all the seams to the front and roughing up. So many things to try! Thank you for this great tutorial!
I just found this tutorial 😊 - did I miss how many blocks you made? I saw the sizes, just not the quantity. I’ve been dying to make one just like this for my great niece - thank you! (Feeling like I won the lottery!) 😊
Did you also do this tutorial where you spoke? I could swear I heard you talking in one where you said roughly what sizes you cut out. I finally found the perfect fabric and ordered it - now I’m trying to get my directions in order prior to starting. I can’t wait to make this 😊
I love this quilt. It allows for individual expression and can be finished in so many ways. The raw edges are my favorite. I like the eclectic quilting on each block too and the binding that ties it together! I will try it for sure!❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love this quilt and technique! Purposely imperfect! It looks so soft. This will definitely be my next project. I feel like I could relax and have fun with this one instead of stressing. I wish I had seen this before I finished my last quilt, I would have definitely finished it like this! Beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing! Your quilt is perfection and your video was thorough and very relaxing! I especially love the scrappy binding as the icing on the cake! Blessings to all in love and light!🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💙🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼💛🙏🏼💚🙏🏼
i've had a quilt like this in my head for yesrs, different fabrics to make a flower, but only had the flower imagined.....this finishes the picture, love the addition of the leaves, i also visioned it on white, love the unfinished edges, i'm so excited to see this. one idea i've had in my mind, a tablecloth with flowers around the edge that hangs down, and some design on the top, but the flowers on the side are 3 dimensional like what you've made. the raw edge achieves the look i imagined,.,but hadn't thought of raw edges...can't wait to make this, already have 2 quilts in post production...i was thinking of sewing a raw edge piece of denim to the sashing...now i know i'm going to, just love the look
These roses are gorgeous! I'm thinking of putting some of these on quilt as you go hexagons. As I'm not keen on sewing by machine do you think they'd look OK if I did some hand stitching instead? Like a simple running stitch? I'm a total beginner at this sort of thing!

Thank you it’s now going to be a great heirloom lace hankies from Ireland Italy etc all on quilt as my dads cousin lives in NY
*_That's awesome Brenda💛💛💛_*
I love this quilt. It looks easy enough for a beginner. Let me know if you think its to difficult for beginner quilter. I’m so glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing your art!
*_Absolutely beginner friendly💛 sew up a practice rose and see how it feels to you. If the practice seems easy enough then go for it✅_*
This is absolutely shabby chic. I am in love! Gorgeous.

*_Thank you so much for the kind words Cheryl🌹.....It is really an easy construction and it's very forgiving as far as mistakes go...I made several mistakes in this quilt and I can't even find them now LOL😂_*
I love this quilt SOOO much! Thanks for sharing!
I have never made a quilt however this looked so fun may have to try one with my scraps thanks for the inspiration
Hermoso trabajo, le felicito 👏👏👏👏
muchas gracias❣️
❤Wozz the chenille effect is impressive and I love all your techniques ❤
I love your quilt, and after reading it was like the french rose quilt someone made, I looked that up on youtube. I have to say, it was similar, but I like yours much better. Yours is done with all florals, no gingham. And your color choices were much more to my liking.
*_Oh thank you for the kind / thoughtful feedback Sharon🌹_*
As I was watching this I wondered if I could not just create in on my hoop frame with a long arm. I would try the blocks first, but thinking ... Also wondered about flannel instead of batting and sewing all the seams to the front and roughing up. So many things to try! Thank you for this great tutorial!
*_Yes Susan...there are so many ways to do this one...thank you for all your ideas...keep us posted here on what works or doesn't work✅_*
@@TheSewingChannel I did sew it together as a rag quilt using flannel instead of batting, I LOVE how it turned out. It is a favorite.
That’s awesome ♥️ flannel makes it much softer for sure✅ way to go Susan👍🏼
I love the frayed edge on the flowers 🌺
Thank you! 😊
I just found this tutorial 😊 - did I miss how many blocks you made? I saw the sizes, just not the quantity.
I’ve been dying to make one just like this for my great niece - thank you! (Feeling like I won the lottery!) 😊
It's been awhile...you may have to pause the video and count...I'm sorry...I make so many quilts..it's hard to keep track💕
There are 27
Did you also do this tutorial where you spoke? I could swear I heard you talking in one where you said roughly what sizes you cut out. I finally found the perfect fabric and ordered it - now I’m trying to get my directions in order prior to starting. I can’t wait to make this 😊
I love this quilt. It allows for individual expression and can be finished in so many ways. The raw edges are my favorite. I like the eclectic quilting on each block too and the binding that ties it together! I will try it for sure!❤️❤️❤️
Love this! I made a baby quilt similar to this a few years ago for my Niece's baby girl (her middle name is Rose)😍❤
*_Rose is a beautiful name..🌹_*
I absolutely love this quilt and technique! Purposely imperfect! It looks so soft. This will definitely be my next project. I feel like I could relax and have fun with this one instead of stressing. I wish I had seen this before I finished my last quilt, I would have definitely finished it like this! Beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!
I loved this wordless video with the soothing music.
Thank you Patti💛
Thanks!
*_Thank you Robyn...Let me know if I can help further✅_*
@@TheSewingChannel Thank you I will!
*_I'm so glad this video was helpful....you sound like me kate- sometimes all I need is a pinch of inspiration to get the job done💛_*
@@TheSewingChannel 👏🏻
This is one beautiful quilt. So soft and comfy looking.
Next on my to do list.
Thank you for a wonderful inspiring video.
This looks like an old style quilt. It reminds me of my grandmother.
*_I love that it reminds you of you grandmother💛_*
These roses are gorgeous! I'm thinking of putting some of these on quilt as you go hexagons. As I'm not keen on sewing by machine do you think they'd look OK if I did some hand stitching instead? Like a simple running stitch? I'm a total beginner at this sort of thing!
