Great for string spacing and making it more natural for you to skip strings, very uncommon for beginners to know and probably one of the most crucial excercises.

Only he can make even a rudimentary exercise sound musical. Kiko is a great player.
I'm discovering these pretty late, but thank you for your guitar exercises/tips. I've been playing (mostly self-taught) for about 18 years, and picking issues are the only thing I really struggle with. My left hand can fret all the notes to quicker solos that require alternate picking between multiple strings, but it's like my right hand just can't keep up. Inefficient movement would be the main issue, I guess, and I've never been able to figure out how to clean it up.
You are an amazing guitarist, one of the best ever in my opinion, so I'm hoping this will help get my picking hand to stop being dumb.

Hey kiko you should add at the end of the video some parts that you play in angra megadeth or solo using some of these and it would be even more understandable :D
I am working on the tune Tu meni notes by Steve Morse. still haven't been able to play it very clean at original tempo but i think playing something like that requires more than these exercises, if only i could somehow figure out what i am lacking!! it's quite frustrating but ofcourse that is why Steve Morse is a living legend.

Man,ur lessons are so different from the way I was taught but I like them I have subscribed,and I dig this aproach,I'm looking for something different, different scales ,aproach,out of the conventional box ,to free up my playing so to speak. I noticed you would strike a string that would look like you would pluck away from the instrument. Could you talk about how to play on metronome? and how to speeding up the techniques for example alternate picking or sweep picking......I have some problem with playing in time and recording

I remember you talking about this concept since "Enfermo", on the opening line of the song. Its one of those things very few players do, like you or Morse.
To this day, I still play that opening "Enfermo" line with economy picking, cause its harder with alternate like this, haha

Hey Kiko, awesome videos by the way. I've been playing for a couple years but never really practiced, I've always just tried to learn my favorite songs, riffs, making my own riffs and since watching your videos you showed me how important it is to practice on certain things. I'm really struggling with string skipping, especially at speed, learning tornado of souls solo is hard, I can play it slower but I just can't seem to get my speed up on it. Is there any tips you can give to help get the speed right on the sweeps and string skipping and the middle of the solo is amazing but also amazingly hard to copy. I feel stuck and feel like I can't get any better or faster..

I never sren a lick which would use that crazy string skips from high e to low i think sequencing just a one string skipe is more useful E D A G D A so on but i think i saw this exercise in one of your video Kiko!
