Why not let players try this interesting and..." Janusz Regula: "LEARN SCALES!" Kiko: "You should try this exercise. It might help you get rid of some tension and increase endurance."
How amazing is that one of the greatest guitarists on the planet is doing TH-cam videos? He doesn't do it for money but just because he loves to teach and to Interact with fans
He comes up with an exercise, but he ends up giving sooo many ideas on how to combine notes. I love that :D, I feel extremely inspired everytime I watch his videos.
I really love what you've done with this channel. Never would I have thought I could learn directly on a regular basis from megadeth's lead guitarist. Hats off to you Kiko.
This man deserves every bit of success he's earned. There is a LOT of practicing behind that tremendous technique he has. He's the Latin Guthrie Govan.
I guess that’s very important. I try too hard when I practice, Kiko is completely relaxed. That’s the secret. Also brushing the strings when you practice with a pick. Be very gentle, less picking more brushing feeling in your picking hand.
This exercise is helping me so so so much!!!!! The big error I´ve been commiting for years is to press too much. I couldn´t move fast and I have a tendinitis problem in my left hand because of that. Thanks for good advices like this one!!! I,m practicing everyday and starts to improve the pain in my hand and my technique also!!!
Your the one of the player that seems playing guitar so effortless and looks like your playing air guitar.... i became your fan since the first day i saw your video of song dream circle...your my idol dude!
I blame music teachers in middle and high schools for telling people they have to press hard. I have never pressed any harder than necessary to make the note.
@BlackMetalTroy322 Skumshow Dave will never be defeated. Not even cancer can take Dave out. Pinched nerves? Fuck it. Cancer? Beat it. Addiction? Clean and sober. Dave is an inspiration.
This is one of the best advices and exercises in TH-cam.... Also... Such a meme face when you were looking for that sweet spot! It's the same face I make when I'm looking for pulse
Hey Kiko how are you today? I just love watching your show. So allow me a 70 year old to say been there done that but not like you guys we didn’t have guitar players like that back in 1969. So good luck to you I know you’re 50-50 one and it just honestly really goes out from there man enjoy my 50s all my good years so are my 40s! Blessings to you all
This is such a great exercise! I've recently went from playing bass full time to playing guitar full time, and I feel like i'm strangling the neck lol. This definitely helps!
Oh, I have admit that is one of the greatest discovery I've made. How hard you press the string against fret is actually really important and what I've noticed this excercise also helps a lot with a tone clarity. Thank You so much for such a great and smart advice!
Great exercise Kiko. I've been doing this for years. in fact was doing it last night with my quickest playing to get even quicker, then applied that little extra pressure for good notes. It really works.
I definitely have a tendency to play too hard, experiencing fatigue in my left hand after some time spent playing. This exercise will help a lot, thank you!
Since you are so good still you ask for a suggestions from everyone. And I salute you for that. Because I do that as well.... there are lots of very young very good guitarist on both classical and rock .... and those kids amazes me every time. By the way this is great lesson for sure I will add this in my warm up exercises. For as long as we live we don’t stop learning .... great. Thanks for this Kiko. You’re a phenomenal guitarist.
Man, I enjoy a lot to get to watch kiko loureiro video lesson cause I can Learn how to play guitar and also training my English through listening what he is saying
Due to the comments on your videos I begin to understand the first words in Portuguese.... You really bring people together here :) thanks for all your effort, it is greatly appreciated!
I knew this approach but it is worth mentioning that Kiko has given tons of 1 million dollars tips here, really a person worried about spreading the strings knowledge.
Kiko, thank you so much for this. I have been trying so long to have a soft touch. I tend to muscle the guitar, I'm always tense and it has really gotten me stuck. I'm not progressing farther, and that's why. You explained it and demonstrated it so well. Thank you thank you thank you.
THANK YOU for sharing this! I always practice with minimal effort, but this gave me another approach to explore!

Vlw!
Right hand exercise to go around the Floyd Rose standard microtuner design, like the guitar in this video. THe first time I saw you playing this guitar I noticed how incredible your right hand anchoring is. Of course I had to struggle with the Edge Trem first( I have an RG)
Obrigado e sucesso! \m/
Dude you are just a master crack o playing and all i can see is how humble and accurate you are playing and making feel comfortable others with your lesson... man congrats keep on that way and grow as musician and person!!! Cheers from spain!!!!
Big fan of you for years. Your stuff in Angra is great and love your solo albums. Since joining Megadeth they've made a huge comeback. Amazing guitarist.
I do have a concern about this one, though. Pressing hard enough to have the note play out cleanly is going to be different depending on string gauge, guitar scale length, string height, etc. I just want to point out that if you want to be able to play any guitar, or even yours if you decide to set it up differently at some point, definitely think of having a little bit of headroom in terms of strength training. That is, don't just aim to press as lightly as possible with your current instrument, but either try to learn this with a stiffer setup or by pressing a bit harder than necessary so you don't have issues with this.
Thank you for this lesson Kiko! After one day with this, I broke through my technique plateau (after years!!) and making huge progress again. This is pure gold.
Hi Kiko, I have subscribed to your channel. I've rarely seen an artist like you so involved with the fans and taking into account their comments, and showing stuff like that. I play a bit of guitar for a long time now but you really opened my mind to other way to see the neck, how the notes fit together and with the harmony. Thanks and greets from Paris (France).
Valeu Kiko Loureiro, mestre!!!
The thing I noticed first time I seen him play was how little effort and movement was happening in his left hand and out blew me away. And now he's shared his secret!!! Thank you Kiko!!! 🤘🤘
Excellent exercise, Kiko! This explains it all! It's very noticeable while you're playing. Specially your right hand. Thanks for sharing your tricks! Greetings from Dominican Republic 🍻
Baita dica, Kiko! 👏
"It doesn't sound great, I know..." But... But it does sound great. This is one of my favorite things to do with moderate to high gain. Thanks for the info, I forget that this is great for removing tension
i love you kiko ;) i'd like a video every week with a different kind of Exercises the best for you for improve in: alternate picking, sweep pick, legato, tapping.. every week it will be awesome! thanks Kiko again !
Can´t wait #MegaAlbum16 We love u
Thank you sir, i know now that im doing it right before i play, im a huge fan when i heard you first on Angra, then feel much more amazed when you joined Megadeth, Dave mustaine is my hero when i was a kid, watched you guys played live here in the philippines , it was perfect and cleanest music playing above all bands in that event, megadeth doesnt let me down since childhood, and with you around nothing beats megadeth..all hail sir.
you sir are an inspiration. considering where you are and the passion you still have for learning and teaching the instrument is unbelievable. i wish my passion to keep learning remains as strong as yours
Gracias! What a great exercise! Would not have ever thought of this as a good exercise! I think it might help with also learning/memorizing scales, positions and shapes too!
The way to do the same thing is to pick, but immediately rest your pick on the string you just plucked. Try it out. Instead of letting the string ring out, almost mute it with your pick as soon as you pluck it. That will train you again in minimal effort on the picking hand.
The freaking megadeth guitarist is a youtuber, I can't explain the words of how amazed and lucky i feel to have him talk to us
IKR and he takes time to do this for us, damn
Shay the internet is awesome sometimes
He's been teaching stuff for decades, you can find his old vhs guitar videos here in youtube. Truly a great guy.
he's a brazilian god
Check out his Solo Albums :D And Old Angra Albums! :D
"play anything, just a b minor arpeggio, something like this" - *plays some sick melodic stuff that I actually repeated 5 times because it sounded so awesome*
@Janusz Reguła *chords*
b careful that arpeggio could be a gateway to neo classical metal

I get the impression that you missed the point of Jakob's comment.

It's nice to see someone in your position go out of their way to help others learn. Thank you!
yeah 4:42 is exactly my face when I see you play the guitar
I guess that’s very important. I try too hard when I practice, Kiko is completely relaxed. That’s the secret. Also brushing the strings when you practice with a pick. Be very gentle, less picking more brushing feeling in your picking hand.
Kiko giving away all his tips, that’s because he has like 1000 of them. This guy is amazing
"I know it doesn't sound great"
still sounds amazing
Great technical lesson! Needed it 20 years ago 😅😅
Dave Wright right on
So true. As my left hand burns in pain and my fingers stop moving altogether.
Keith W as I watch my guitar go up in flames from my pure rage after my hands lock up for the last time.
When he plays fast at the end the subtitles say „laughter“ … that actually matches my feeling
This exercise is helping me so so so much!!!!! The big error I´ve been commiting for years is to press too much. I couldn´t move fast and I have a tendinitis problem in my left hand because of that. You are truly an inspiration! One of the best guitarists that the world has ever seen, and Dave is extremely fortunate to have you!!!
I blame music teachers in middle and high schools for telling people they have to press hard. I have never pressed any harder than necessary to make the note.
What I learned from this video is that "so simple" is a relative term. Thanks Kiko, awesome!!!
This is GOLD. I tried that for 2 years and my play improved so much.
i just love it when gods don't look at the fretboard while playing ..... thanks kiko for your channel
My god, this has solved so many questions I had about your technique! Good times to live!
You really are a fantastic teacher. These exercises you’ve shown of late have been super helpful.
After years of playing acoustic guitar, I found it so hard to press lightly on my electric guitar, so glad to find this video.
The minimal effort exercise Mustaine should know
@BlackMetalTroy322 Skumshow Dave had to relearn guitar after a pinched nerve so yeah he has to try a little harder on some stuff... smh
@BlackMetalTroy322 Skumshow Dave will never be defeated. Not even cancer can take Dave out. Pinched nerves? Fuck it. Cancer? Beat it. Addiction? Clean and sober.
Dave is an inspiration.
Melty Boys His neck and spinal injuries also affected his vocals
@@krishdutta5466 correct, but he troops on like the badass he is
Mustaine plays stuff while singing that I have a hard time just playing without trying to sing at all, so yeah, whatever...
This is one of the best advices and exercises in TH-cam....
Also... Such a meme face when you were looking for that sweet spot! It's the same face I make when I'm looking for pulse
Pato Parra my face... that’s funny...
I know this vid is just over a year old but wanted to say thanks, Kiko! This exercise has helped immensely. :)

You know its a Wonderful world when the lead guitarist of your fav band teach you how to play. How lucky we are
Thanks Kiko! It helped a lot! I got this feeling whenever I play faster, but don’t know what actually happened. Now you explain it clearly!
I've heard Kiko saying something about minimal effort before. It's quite important for health.
I swear, Kiko's technique is so ridiculously good. I'm getting depressed from how buttery smooth it is. Holy crap.

Awesome... this exercise made my fretting hand bouncing like a ball, and feeling so smooth. thanks
I like it. I always wondered how some guys could be so fluid with their scale runs and I see now that sometime “less is more”. Gracias, Kiko!

Very Awesome advice for the fretting hand! If you could do a video for the picking hand, that would be even better!

Thank you Kiko for sharing this wonderful tip with us. I am just a beginner guitarist and been looking to step up my game. This really helps.
Great lesson. I've heard about most techniques but this is the first time ive heard of this.... Thanks.
Please, tell us like relax the right hand with some exercise...
Yes, I also wanted to know it. I actually left a comment on Kiko's last video to know, how to relax the right picking hand, shoulder, back etc.
Take a look at Ben Eller’s TH-cam channel. He’s got a video on reducing picking hand/arm tension.
@@erikhelkimo Thank you Erik! I'll watch it now
Ask rick graham? Haha

It seems extremely obvious but it really isn't. Thank you very much Kiko!
Really cool to see how kiko uses two-way pickslanting concept when alternate picking stuff. Kinda like unconsciously.
I think your phrasing is fantastic man. Fizzy from San Diego ROCK ON .👌
