    Very good video. My experience is with KW and Freightliner CNG and diesels at a LARGE operation (they also have LNG but I've never driven one). KW CNG with the Eaton transmission seen to be poorly geared for the Appalachian terrain nearby and the speed of shifts means you'll lose 5-7 mph downshifting. The Freightliners we have (mostly) use a Detroit DT12 that seems to be a MUCH better match for CNG. I used to think it CNG lacked power until I drove the Freightliners. Much much cleaner rubbing as well, checking the oil during pretrip those CNG look like fresh oil forever!

    Thank you Tony and pass on my regards to Mrs. Tony for having ya put this together and posting! 👌🙏 I'm an aspiring small fleet owner and intrigued with the CNG vehicles. To me, it "seems" like the Trifecta of idealness: greener, cheaper fuel, intrinsic bias against the platform so good deals to be had on the 2ndary market. 🤔. . .Here's hoping!

      May God be with you in your journey and prosper you!
      Yes, the thing is if CNG trucks are bad Million dollars companies wouldn't invest in them. The deference between us small fleet or one truck OP, is affordability of maintenance and breakdowns. Techs got better at them, they are trained. But again the cost of one truck back in 2018 was almost double what we can get for a diesel "If my information was correct! Which I was told by office peeps :)". There are pros and cons for everything, my biggest was fueling.

      @@Tony-th1ww Thank you, good sir! Yeah, you bring up good points. When you refer to fueling, was that the biggest con for you, and as in finding a CNG station, or?

      @@michaelz6870 yes fueling was one of the cons for me. The company I worked with had us fuel at selected Kwik trips across WI, IL and MN

    With this diesel shortage we are going to need a lot of more CNG trucks at least until we are able to get the Tesla Semis. Tesla will need to get their Semi Trucks also to transport their Tesla cars. I wonder how many CNG Semis trucks are out there we are going need an enormous number of trucks.

    The question isnt diesel vs cng. But cng with diesel. Combining both fuel to clean up and get better mpg

    Propane & CNG/LNG systems typically add 10%-30% horsepower and torque. Results vary depending upon the system and the initial setup whether it is intended for economy or MORE POWER...! L O L...

    @0:40 same here. I'm In 2022 looking for CNG truck, barely any info. If you go to freightliner perterbuilt,kenworth, mack(maybe) you won't find the selection of cng. You have to search the truck dealer website, the request a brochure. Afterthat. It's like they know this (high fuel prices ) would come to a point but hid it from the consumers.
    I don't get why you have to jump through hoops to get a truck order.

      The company had freightliners, Kenworth and Peterbuilts. All had the same set up. Cummins engine with the Allison trans. I do understand your frustrations. Sorry that you're going through that.

    How many miles do you run a day and how often do you fill up? MPG?

    • @Tony-th1ww
      @Tony-th1ww  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran 600 miles round trips. I'd had a full tank, stop half way to fill and then back, refill at night. Trucks about 4 to 5mpg

    CNG is 2/3 the cost of diesel. If diesel diehards want to stick with it, then CNG drivers/carriers will beat out the diefuture

      Usually companies that uses CNG, well have the drivers know which fuel station to use.

    What do you think about a 2012 isx Kenworth CNG truck?

    • @Tony-th1ww
      @Tony-th1ww  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. Now to answer your question is simple. Any USED truck if it was CNG or not we'll have to do it due diligence in researching the truck. I recommend doing a "RIG DIG" it's the CarFax for trucks. I highly recommend doing that to know the history of the truck, and take it to a mechanic as well. Now the name Kenworth is legendary. But we don't know how the truck was maintained! You'll end up investing a couple of hundred dollars to know if that truck is worth your money or not. Hope it helps. It's all about the maintenance record. Usually at where I worked they overhaul the engine at 700 thousand miles. So please do your research before buying it, I can't tell you if it's a good truck or not because I'm not a mechanic. Hope this helps. Don't rush take your time and find something that has had an overhaul with papers and don't forget "RigDig" and a mechanic "Dino". Losing a couple of hundred is better than thousands.

      My apologies for late response. The trucks my old company had ran 4 to 5 MPG. They're not the best on MPG. But the company would fill for cheap. They had a deal with one of the truck stops for dollar fifty a gallon.
