    If you buy these go with the following.
    1500-1600 rpms at cruising speed.
    Figure 5 mpg or less and you can only use 80% of fuel capacity. Buy bigger fuel tanks than needed.
    12-13 speed transmissions are ideal. The Cng engine has a power band of 1300-1650. 10 speeds gear steps are to wide to shift in this gap. You'll either be below or above the ideal range. Below 1300 it takes too long for the turbo to spool, above 1650 the hx35W (the side found on a 5.9/6.7 Cummins diesel) is maxed out.
    Keep the oil available for drivers. It's not in truck stops.
    Replace all coolant hoses before 250k miles. They will pop.
    Disable the low coolant sensor from shutting the truck down. They last about 2 years and a $250.00 coolant reservoir will be a tow truck bill.
    Follow the valve train maintenance schedule. It's not that same as a diesel.
    Follow the spark plug maintenance schedule. Bad plugs= engine damage.
    Have your own fueling station on site. CNG trucks are not for over the highway. I've been coast to coast in Cng truck. It's driving from one fuel station to the next and pray they are working

      He tells no lies. We have CNG's at UPS and they feel as though they will cut off on you in the middle of the gears shifting.

      @@blackericdenice they aren't so bad when we bobtail or pulling empty, but as soon as a little weight get in a trailer, they struggle so bad to pull. Transmissions are dog shit too. They tend to either not downshift on inclines, or downshifts extra late. We have long range CNG's that are a lot better than the ones we use for local pick-ups, but still doesn't compare to a diesel.

    She left out the part about the truck won't hold speed on a hill like a diesel.

      I pass plenty of diesels going up hill. Really can’t tell difference except truck is governed at 65 so some diesels will blow me a way. Really depends on weight going up a hill ..

      @@Trucker2Millions if you are at a stop light and diesel is next to you, chances are hes/shes going to pass you within a few seconds as you are still trying to reach past 25mph. CNG's are terrible at acceleration at low gear.

    • @Trucker2Millions
      @Trucker2Millions ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jmlbass this is true, I’ve tried and failed miserably. But in 8 months I’ve only really noticed once so goes to show you that kind of speed doesn’t matter, at least the way I drive.
      Amazon’s smart drive will ding you for the pettiest things so trying to beat someone off the line is never really on my radar. Try going 6 mph over speed limit and hit a small bump and camera will start recording an “event”. Ding.
      Because of that system I actually prefer most trucks go ahead of me so they don’t tail gate me when I go only 4 mph above the speed limit.

    Lack of fueling stations in my area for CNG make driving these a pain. We have one fueling station and its not even in our state, but the one next door (Washington). Furthermore, the rotten egg smell is a fail safe to let you know there is a leak. I cannot verify this, but I was told by both Amazons training, and 3rd party AFP training, that lighting a smoke within 20 feet of the truck when the smell emits, could lead to the truck blowing up. Now how many truck drivers do you know that smoke? That does not sound very comforting now does it. I worked at Amazon TOM team for a couple years and now drive with a 3rd party, and everyone prefers the Volvo/Pete Diesels, especially when traversing up hills. I dig the idea of going green with trucks, but nobody wants to drive a smelly slug.

  • @Trucker2Millions
    @Trucker2Millions ปีที่แล้ว

    Best part about driving these trucks is there is no exhaust smoke.
    I used to walk away from one truck in particular so soaked in exhaust. Not only was the smell almost unbearable, I’m sure it was bad for health.
    Worst part about CNG is lack of fueling stations. However, Amazon recently set up a station in our yard so biggest compliant now are occasional long lines. However for most part is extremely convenient, as just as if having a diesel station would be in your yard.

      How they pull, like diesel? In horse power

  • @alexandrecarvalho5573

    Overfilling the engine oil causes oil consumption, Blue smoke and damage to the three way catalytic converter and those damage are not covered by Cummins warranty.

      SYNTHETIC BLEND. There's only one CNG engine available for Class 8 so its the same for all makes.
