I really love just listening to these jams. Sometimes I rewatch these vids with my kids just for the music. What genre of music would you call this? Would love to make a playlist of this type of music.
Thanks for the kind words! I usually play music that builds on conceptual kernels, scraps of imagined motifs, or even emotional states, rather than the building blocks and desired results that typically signify "genres." And so yes, I have struggled to categorize my music into a genre! When uploading work to streaming services I can never find one that fits! I have started to tell people who ask that my music is "abstract expressionist," which is the closest analog I've found in in other media. Of course that won't help you in searching for it on Spotify!! I would recommend checking Bandcamp and Spotify etc. not just for myself (Walker Farrell) but also for artists like Tony Rolando, Brett Naucke, Meg Mulhearn, Bana Haffar, Caterina Barbieri, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Anthony Janas... You can certainly go beyond artist who use modular too, see Laurie Spiegel, Rashad Becker, Klein, Kate NV, Kate Carr, Andy Loebs, Howie Lee... Just thinking out loud! I sometimes feel we are living through a golden age of uncategorizable music!!
That rainy day patch is one of my favorites that you’ve done. I spent much of the day yesterday using Stega to make rain sounds with some noise filtered thru Qpas into Strega's ext in. I like yours better.
one of my favorite of Walker's musical creations and sure to be one of my favorite Make Noise modular creations, too. Got my DXG on order. i love the innovative dynamic decay. so useful! can't wait to patch mine up :)
Gotta be strong and resist what looks to be Shared System 2.0. I was super stubborn about not moving into any of this new MN stuff .. Dammit! This shit sounds so good and once again .. a system that nobody will ever get to the bottom of
You did say if we had any questions or patch requests... Let me start with, I have not owned any of your LPG's yet. Not even Optomix or LXD. Mutable Streams is the only LPG I have at this point. Of your modules, I own Maths, Qpas, Morphagene, Spectraphon, Mimeophon, XPO, X-Pan, Rosie, 0-Coast, and 0-Ctrl. Thing is, I just ordered a 2nd XPO a few hours ago. So, what I'm wondering is... How do a pair of XPO's work with the DXG? I don't even have any idea how two XPO's together are going to sound yet, I just took a gamble because one by itself already sounds great, and the second one was a super cheap b-stock from my main vendor, so screw it, I figured. Seems like a winning bet. What would you guys do with 2x XPO's into the dual channels of the DXG? I'll definitely be buying the DXG soon, just looking to get an idea of how you'd use it, as you have a ton more patching experience and ideas than I do. In the meantime, I'll try running a mono signal out of each XPO into Streams, and then a stereo signal out of each into A/B of Spectraphon, and tweak the partials. That will give me some idea, for a start. I'd just love to see your take on such a setup.
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC 2nd XPO received! In order to accommodate it into my MN case, I had to do a full re-rack of 3x Rackbrute 6U cases, to make physical room, and keep balanced power draw. Just finished the re-rack a few minutes ago. This weekend is the Korean New Year long weekend, so I have a 4-day weekend to test it out in the new layout.
Scheduled Premiere allows us to reach the maximum portion of our audience, as a video's first hour is weighted the heaviest when TH-cam decides whether to suggest a video to people using the platform. Also, it is fun to meet up in the chat with the community each week! Please forgive the inconvenience.
Why no Ch1 output without mixing? Seems a shame to always have to marry 2 stereo signals together at the moment of note creation. Why does only Ch2 get to live a life of its own? The mix only makes sense if both signals are going to be processed exactly the same from their very origins until output. Ch1 never gets a chance to grow and take on its own character unless it’s used by itself. Individual outs for both channels as well as a mix output (with perhaps better level control into the mixer) should have been done in order to fully showcase your new achievement. Just seems like submixing was prioritized over the real accomplishment here: a dual stereo lpg, knee capped with a mixer.
space, obviously. There just isn't room for another pair of outs in 8HP and since it's clearly intended to replace OptoMix, an 8HP module, in a MN shared system, they couldn't increase the width to accommodate outs for ch1 too. There's just no pleasing some people 😅

The Mad Synthesist 🔌
He’s like Dexter from ‘The Fast Show’ “I folk this module into the lab….”

As your modular skills grow wilder, so does your haricut my boy! I own an OG SS and this vids got me thirsting after the stereo stuff BADLY
Excellent! My 0-Ctrl was getting a little bored, but with the DxG on pre-order I have assured it that fun times are in the offing…
So excited to add this to my rig. Love the way it sounds. 🙌🏼
Happy patchin'!!
I love your Rhythmic grooves. I can’t wait to get one.

Gene Wilder Wonka drips. Although I’m unsure if that memory is real.
In my experience, memories are real even when they don't conform to reality ;)

Why do you schedule videos 3 days in advance? Just publish them
