Hope this video helps out some people! This has been requested for some time, and I finally got around to it! Here's the link to the cleaning kit. There are tons of them out there, so pick which one is best for you. geni.us/SensorCleaningKit
Autocleaning just vibrates the sensor using the micro actuators there in order to shake off the particles from the surface of the sensor, so maybe point the camera downward while doing this cleaning. One more tip. Before and after cleaning take a picture of a white wall or also a picture of clear sky. Inspect the picture (and zoom a lot :) ) and you will be able to see if there's dirt on the sensor or on the lens.
@koka7647 no message to “ok”? It does stuff internally (that you won’t notice), then should prompt you to hit “ok”. They sell cleaning kits like this for this reason, and internal mechanism isn’t going to be the end all be so with making sure you have no specs etc on the sensor.
make sure you get the correct cleaning kit for the size of sensor. it looks likes these swaps are for Micro4/3s. My APCS ones are the same height as the sensor.
Hello, i haven’t used my sony a6000 for almost a year, i took it out of my shelf and put the battery on charge. Please give me suggestions on how to check on it bit by bit once it is fully charged and the damages i should expect!
If it just sat for a year, shouldn’t be anything to worry about. I’d maybe use a camera dust blower and ensure the sensor is clear - camera fast down, use blower pointing up. Take a shot of a white wall, ensure no specs are in the image. Maybe backup then reformat an SD card in camera to start fresh!
This is a great video... Thank you! I just cleaned my A6000Y a week ago using a similar kit that was available on Amazon India. The results are awesome!
Do you know if It Is possible to buy just the liquid cleaner? Because I've already purchase the brushes (which haven't been already wet with the cleaner) and now i wouldn't like to buy all the stuff but only what i need
Hi I am using A6000. Now, i want to buy Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. But i have heard an issue about this lens, focusing problem at f 2.8 & 5.6 using EVF. Do you have any idea about that?? Please let me know... Thaknks..
Hey Kyle! Love your videos I have been watching your vids since the first tips and tricks for a6000 and I decided to buy one. Maybe you missed something ,one of the brushes have an active coal sensor cleaner part and it is covered under a cap. Keep up the good work!
i've been searching a lot of videos and asking for advice about what amounts to be a pretty simple, albeit sensitive, procedure. hopefully someone can correct me if i'm wrong or provide more insight, but everything i've seen, read and heard says to use very gentle pressure when applying the swab to the sensor. seeing as how your swab handle is bending on your swipes, maybe that is too much pressure? Regardless, very well done video.
What’s 4 years 🤪good video cause I had a lot of that stuff didn’t really care to research what it was it was used for now I know thanks for video Keep em coming 🦾🦾🦾
Uhh...good question! The talking head shots were on the Sigma 16mm and I want to say 1/50th. I had the Sigma 16mm on and then switched to the Sigma 30mm for the top down. I don't think I changed the shutter speed there.
Thanks Kyle. Top practical advice. Most owners would be too afraid of causing sensor damage to attempt what is really a very simple process. Many thanks. 🎅🎅🎅🍺
I was looking at camera prices but then dug up my old a6000 i got in highschool 8 years ago lol. Bought this same cleaning kit and a fresh battery that's coming tomorrow! Excited to revitalize my camera!! Because honestly camera quality has sorta stagnated witht he rest of tech lol.
What you cleaning is a peace of glass and you can't touch the sensor at all. Most durable thing in camera is Sensor a d most fragile one is shutter mechanism and main board. Auto cleaning does not do anything if you have specs or dust on it. You should get a good loop to check sensor.
Good video but why don't you clean the camera body cover with the blower before you attach to the camera after cleaning the sensor. All your good work could be undone if this item is with static dust partials etc.
I didn't do it this way ... AND ... I killed my a6000 camera. The rear curtain (I guess that's what it is) somehow got in front of the sensor as I was wiping it with a microfiber cloth and I wrinkled it ... and it was then toast. So, I ripped out the curtain and threw it away ... and then sold the camera on eBay "For Parts Only" for 1/4 the cost of a used replacement a6000. Ignorance is costly. : +(
No worries. I didn’t rewatch the vid right now but I remember it not being as good as I wanted. When someone comments and it’s an understandable critique I’m all for it. Thanks for your time.

I actually recorded talking about checking via taking a shot at a wall / sky ect but ended up cutting it out accidentally lol 😂
@koka7647 not really what they mean. It’s not like a cell phone vibrate. It’s tiny tiny movement.

no need to zoom if your "subject" is a white surface. just close your aperture till F11 or tighter.
I actually had already ordered that same kit to clean my a6000 and a week later you put this video out to help me clean it! Thanks!😁 Awesome video!
Thanks!!

Good tutorial! Hopefully the next gen camera will be able to have the shutter stay closed when changing lenses. 👍
This is actually what we needed
I have used the rocket blower and in-camera cleaner and have not had any problems. I've not had to clean it manually yet.
Bought the kit, cleaned my a6000, thanks for this great tutorial. 😊

haven't had an issue myself, all I can speak to. Think it's an amazing lens.

I never bought this because I was scared to ruin my sensor, seeing this I immediately preferred a kit🤤
You not cleaning sensor but peace of top glass.
Hi, can you reuse the swab? Or just once then replace the swab?
No, nee swab each time.
@@kyletaggart Thank you!
Hey Kyle, you hear about the a6000 being discontinued?
it's not officially discontinued yet. I think it's going to sell great this holiday season, just like it has for the past 5 years. Wild!
@@kyletaggart i for one just bought a used a6000 with a 16-50mm and a 55-210mm for £390 and i think it was a great deal, so excited!
I never really thought about removing the lense and putting on a body cap while storing my camera. What is the benefit of doing so?
Personally, that would be too much precious time/moments wasted.. needing to throw a lens on.
Some say it keeps the mount integrity longer and prevents the camera or lens being damaged while traveling ect. Not a huge deal imo.

Be gentle sure - but don’t go hard on it like a nail in wood. Make contact, go from one side to the other. Done!

Thanks Jeramie! Got Lots of lens reviews coming 😬
Does the sensor glass easily scratch??
what shutter speed did you shoot this at? love the motion blur!

good video on the day they discontinued that camera... :)
I lightly used a microfiber cloth corner to wipe a single dust off
Gread video, I have used ear swab with liquid for sensors, when the blower does not work
careful with those ear swabs as they are cotton and can leave cotton threads. the swabs the kits come with are nylon i believe.
i had bought now a6000 is this was very good camera
Thanks

Hi Kyle 👋
Hello!
You do not have the swaps you used to trow away. Clean them and put them in a save place.
Great way to save money instead of having a camera shop clean it
Thanks Chris! if a camera shop offers it for free, I'd say go for it!
@@kyletaggart I do design work for a camera shop in Dallas. They would probably do it for free. Never thought about that!
Thank you soo much!!
Jesus Christ you saved my life man. I didn’t realize I needed to flip the sensor facing down to clean it. Thanks!
Haha anytime!
Doubt I’d ever personally risk it, but curious if scotch tape would work as well...
No lol
I just use optical cloth for glasses on my sensor.

Dang. Sorry to hear chuck!

Too much talking. Saw a video that goes through everything in 4 minutes. This is too much self indulgence.
All good. This was a tough video to make. Thanks for checking it out.
@@kyletaggart Not a problem, I hope I didn't come off as rude. Thanks for the advice nevertheless.

Why clean that old sensor, just go get a better one !! :p
In a video on sensor cleaning?!
