    I bought my 73 tin top about a year ago and all it really needed was aesthetic repair. Annnnnnnnnd then it was broken into and the wiring got all kinds of jacked up. On a positive note, I am being forced into learning all about wiring and the electrical components. I really dig what you guys are doing!!

    News paper is a great idea, I use it in the bottom of my gumboots in the winter, so I don’t freeze my toes when farming. Great video 👍

    Pretty helpful. I'm redoing my 79 Bay Camper and I'll be adding wiring behind the cabinets. I think you might have saved yourself some time by taping the wring in place where the lights would be, then adding the lights as you went, that way you wouldn't have to fish the wires. BUT I have never done this, it was just a thought I had while watching!

    im only 2 mins in, and news paper is good to start a fire, i defiantly wouldn't insulate my roof with it. I would rather have nothing there. Fiberglass insulation if cheep, and works, but all is cool, its your vlog, and i dig anything VW!!

    I’m wondering how the newsprint worked out. Having a full-time aluminum-skinned camper I know about getting rid of moisture or preventing it from building up.
    I’d expect that to have molded up but I’m curious. Maybe it would be ok in socal or az

    • @Vangabonders
      @Vangabonders  ปีที่แล้ว

      It never got moldy but I can't say it was very effective at insulating. Probably best to spend money on a moisture barrier type of insulation

    Your dad doesn't like you very much. With any level of humidity your newspaper will be damp, then wet, the rot. You'll have some serious humidity and possibly mold issues later...
    Cutting corners always end up costing more in the end...
    EDIT: Predrill a hole to not crack the wood. You can look up on wikipedia which size prehole you need in relation to the screw size and hardness of the wood...

    • @Vangabonders
      @Vangabonders  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      simonlynchsae we did predrill all the holes for the screws. Also don't believe we'll have humidity/mold problems but I'll update you down the road.

    Overall, how much was your cedar roof? I am currently looking at bamboo headliners for my 1971 bus and I'm not sure if its worth $500. My dream would be to make a cedar roof with puck lights and a light strip going around the perimeter inside, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time. What do you guys think? Was your project done in one day?

    • @Vangabonders
      @Vangabonders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wood for the ceiling itself was less than $100. I got it at homedepot. The puck lights were from amazon and also really cheap! It was easy to do. I definitely recommend going for it. It won't take more than a couple days.
