I always found it odd that vanlife seems to emphasize the loneliness factor, when in reality, you could be in a mansion and it's impact is exactly the same.
Very true :) A lot of the vids are of people showing off their vans or greeting & chatting to whoever is around (my idea of misery), the solitary life looks peaceful, yeah a bit boring but changing scenery is super easy to do, plus just being able to roll out of bed head into a store, cook up a breakfast and be on the road within an hour!
It blows my mind that 1 million people have watched this guy make breakfast, go to the gym, take a shower, use an outhouse, and play video games. What a time to be alive! Mad respect dude!
It's interesting af. Gives great ideas for camping on a budget, or saving mad money from staying away from apartments, until them assets start kicking in
Yes!! I want to see the real deal & behind the scenes, the full use of all functions, maybe some more thoughts if it is too cold or too hot, I'm dreading winter times. I think a portabla toilet would be good to have though it doesn't take much space, I'd hate to have a brown accident because I didn't get in time to find a toilet. Also there are portable shower with pumps, one could just pop up a diy shower curtain hang the shower handle & stand outside close to a place where it's ok soap water comes into the sewage , or drying holes. One could also stand in a bukett outdoors & let the used dirty water (gray water) be collected. There are shower cabin one can build or buy as well I would opt for a toilet & shower. Unless one is very disciplined or out of necessity just buys a gym card to use their shower I think it will feel like one is always travelling And i know after a while one wants "normalcy" , but it all depends. I think the bedplace is the most important, because all one wants is to come home & lay in bed to rest or take a hot shower It all depends on what kind of person one is Seeing as it is so e pensive to just exist. I feel out of necessity & also freedom i would like the tiny home or camper/van life Most of my time & life is spent at work, the rest is just to lay in bed/sofa to recover after a work week & doing nothing with my life but watching movies to soothe myself from the slave life one lives, so I might as well just go for the vanlife I'm thinking & save on a lot of bucks & live minimalistically . Can use the money for investments that will make for an even more self provoding future, self employment, do one doesn't have to be dependent on the system, + the freedom to work whenever & wherever you want And to me i think the best thing would be no more noise from my neighbours
@UniqueGeekFreak Yes, a Portapotty would be a necessity for me, as well. Finding a restroom in the middle of the night, every night, is a deal breaker for me, lol.
@@annehedonia156 lol exactly! I maybe opt for a compostable porta potty, I think u sprinkler saw dust on it to remove the smell, or u know when u use those country outdoors toilets, you used to pour something natural to cover the toxic waste lol
As a truck driver, I can appreciate the loneliness that you experience in van life. I wish my truck was as decked out as your van! Freaking awesome dude.
That is the trick to getting to do this full-time while paid. I guess you could get rid of the passenger seat in a big rig to put an oven or something cool.
I agree. Too many of the "day in the life" videos are unrealistic. . . with gourmet cooking every day, adventure after adventure, all the beautiful "instagram people". This was about as realistic as it gets on a day to day basis. Great video.
98% of life as single person is spent alone in RV. I tested RV living by renting one for two weeks. I found the dreamy idea of journeying wildly fantastic, but the reality was totally different for me. Thank you for your truthfulness.
@@Ashley-og9ti Yep, there is a lot of us interested what you wiil tell...i am extroverted and looking for some fun but torwing 80k eur or more through window just too realize that this is not for me???
I lived in an RV on and off for years. 1) You'd better be handy. I enjoyed the challenge but sometimes I just wanted to take a long hot shower without something breaking. Plumbing and gasfitting being the typical issues. PS. I retrofitted a tankless water heater in so hot showers lasted more than 2 min. 2) The fresh air is nice but the cold, rainy days are hell. Winter was running 4x 1500W heaters 24/7 just to keep the water lines from freezing, let alone warm. Propane furnace rarely helped. I learned to wear socks and sweaters to bed. My dogs also helped keep me warm in -40C. 3) It's a bit lonely. A couple of friends came to visit but for the most part no one wanted to hang out. It's cramped and there's a bit of a stigma - like being homeless almost. It's fine if you're travelling in one but long term living people start treating you a bit differently. 4) Cost. There are ways you can cut down on your bills, like I eventually moved up to bulk propane rather than filling at gas stations. Power used to be cheap where I live but no longer is. Water is fine but you don't want to drink the stuff from the tap/tank and as mentioned is a struggle in winter. If you're moving, RVs don't travel light. You're going to pay high fuel expenses. 5) A bit of boredom. It was great going into the mountains - no lot fees, but no power and water. Move around and visit some places but after a while you miss having that stationary home. No furniture is comfortable - I upgraded to a home mattress and ikea couch but they were still not great. Anything better is too heavy or too big. This seems pretty negative - girlfriend and I are going to be doing some longer term RVing once our current contracts are up; go for a couple of months through Canada and the US. She hasn't done it before so we'll see what her opinions are.
Same mate, seems there are many of us out there coming out from under the rocks lol Can't wait to unplug from the system & even from tech, "I want to see mountains again, mountains! And then finish writing my book" 🙃 I miss looking at the stars
This feels so... Peaceful. It's disconnected from so much noise from regular life. I've met a few camper nomads in my life, and they're always amazing people. Sometimes I'll just sit down, chat, and listen to their stories if they're willing to talk.
The images certainly reflected what I imagine real van life to be like but the way the sound is edited makes it seem more peaceful than I imagine it really is, especially in public car parks. This is a refreshing honest take on van life and I enjoyed it.
@@cassy420blazeYes, they live in a van, or a truck, or a full on camper, and get to see different areas, meet different people, have experiences in both suburban and wilderness that I'm pretty sure the average SUV, F150 or Tacoma driver who's never left suburbia will ever have. But if hearing the life of a nomad who's going from place to place living life as they see fit without any roots planted doesn't interest you? Suit yourself.
@@Ryantwomeyy yes the non verbal videos are just as good or if not better than videos of you explaining every detail. Either way it doesn’t matter because you’re living your purpose and we love you unconditionally for who you are and what stand for. Great content and the adventure never stops. Keep up the great work, eventually your revenue will be enough money every month which will cover all of your monthly living expenses and lifestyle. Have fun and enjoy the time you have with yourself and others like family and friends. Sending you unconditional love, gratitude and compassion. Please be careful and drive carefully as you do. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I'm 64 living alone in a 2,500 sqf house w my two dogs. I can go for weeks without talking to anyone with the only personal interaction with others when I shop for food or walk my dogs. I don't feel lonely (missing others) and truly enjoy my solitude. Having a house is very stressful, endless bills, expenditures, insurance, upkeep, cleaning & pro. taxes. I think that with Van Life I could travel with my dogs, see the Pan-American Hwy from Alaska to the bottom of Argentina, or whatever, it could be fun!!!
So many van life and TH-camrs in general do this and while I get the shots are nice it definitely comes off as inauthentic and kinda cringey. Like last video I watched a dude literally walked in a laundromat with his dirty clothes and I’m just like “So… you walked into the laundromat just to set up cameras to capture you walking in… that’s kinda extra but ok”
Don't forget! "Getting out of the WC" 'Ah, wait they gotta see this!' "getting in the WC, setting up camera, Getting out the WC, just to get in again, get the camera, and gett out again!"
Bro, this is EXACTLY what a typical day looks like for me😂 I've been doing vanlife full-time for 2 years and yes there are some really fun days that make people jealous but if you aren't OK with a day exactly like the one you filmed then you aren't cut out for the life. Way to show it like it is man! -written in a walmart parking lot 😅
I'm assuming this guy's job is TH-cam, but how do you pay for expenses? Instead of rent do you just make a monthly payment on the van and go to a normal job?
@@Platinum9951I'm guessing in addition to TH-cam money and possibly super chats, if they go live, all these van lifers have every gig app downloaded. Without having to pay rent or mortgage, you can easily keep monthly expenses very low. Working mobile side gigs a few days per week can likely cover expenses, especially if you're able to cook your own meals daily.😊
@@MichaelBrown-ti1un Yeah that's what you would think but the vans are not cheap. A sprinter van costs $50,000-$100,000 ... then you got to remodel the thing which could cost another $30,000-50,000. Then of course it's a van so gas ain't gonna be cheap. I don't think you could finance this $100k-$150k investment on gig work. You could buy used but it's still expensive and if it breaks down so long to the remodeling investment.
@@Platinum9951 thats start up costs though. once everything is paid for and renovated monthly expenses would be cheaper. the only expensive cost would be power and fuel i guess
As a Chinese, I’m so glad to see you enjoyed the buns. But instead of throwing them in the boiling water like that, u can put them in a dry bowl, then put the bowl in boiling water to avoid water directly reaching the buns, using a lid to cover the pot so u can steam them and then eat. If u use the correct method, it will taste wayyy better since its name is “steamed buns frozen version”. Directly putting buns in water is like putting croissants in water… So I’m here to give u this little suggestion. Ur videos r good.
Watching some guy on the other side of the world live in a van is weirdly calming for me. You lose the crazy hustle and bustle of everyday life and live a life of serenity and freedom many wish they had. Honestly Ryan, these videos bring me some serious joy.
@@p.chuckmoralesesquire3965 fr and you need a job thats out of office or hybrid at least or have a lump sum of cash on hand at all times to live this lifestyle, still gotta pay for internet or find that too, if you got shower and restroom installed gotta drain greywater or poop in a bag, gotta refill your water supply when its low, lot of little shit, not to mention the build too. its cool but not for everyone
@@paradiseprod6153 yep exactly, these clowns are either already wealthy and leave that part totally out or this meager subsistence life style of living in a dorm room by yourself completely sucks :) It's one of the 2 and either way they're just not being very honest about it. So van life is really just playing xbox for 8 hours a day while in between trips to walmart? Well that doesn't really make for a compelling video
Watching some guy on the other side of the world not be honest about his inheritance while doinking around in a van actually makes it ok that my boss pays me peanuts and treats me like crap and keeps most of the money. Uhh no, no it doesn't bruh.
It doesn't need to be nonstop adventure. You have a unique opportunity to embark on an inner journey as well. Start meditating. Or studying. Or doing yoga. Or start writing. Learn a language. There are endless options for things to do with your time to enhance yourself as a person, so I never understand the concept of loneliness or boredom to be honest. I work from home and spend all my time alone, and I literally never have enough time for all the things I want to do. I can't wait to not be working and have that freedom. Hope to see you do some new things! ❤
All of the above for me! Lol, I am a vanlifer and this whole day looks like heaven except you would be hearing horribly pronounced Korean too, if it was me. I am constantly running out of time too. I was just thinking this video is a good example of anyone's day except the bathrooms part.
This actually comforted me so much because this video seemed so mundane and dull but you’re completely right, that it can still be an inner journey too and still be beautiful as long as we use our own potential:)
No the art of living is not needing those things to "better yourself" the art is being happy and content with who you are, not by constantly thinking you need to do better.
I love this style of day in the life videos: relaxing, no narration, no loud music. For this being 50% of your days though I feel like you could easily improve things with a change of scenery and activities other than gym, gaming, scrolling. Even if it's just a nicer view to park at or a quiet spot slightly out of town where you can chill outside the van. I don't mean this in a judging way, I love being alone for days on end too and your routine looks a lot like my "meh" days too, but that solitude becomes depressing fast if it's spent staring at screens all day. Plus it never really feels like solitude because you're too socially connected online / not alone with your thoughts.
ya if i had a van like him id be more out on the road or in camping areas, definitely with some good portable wifi though. from the looks of it he seems quite connected.
man somebody should tell this dork that if he just had a yard and a house he could do all this pointless crap like eating and working out there. no need to confine himself to a sad lonely van.
@@91dgross dude reality is, most people say that because they don't live the van life. Like all things, it's fun the first few years, then it's just routine.
My wife and I separated a couple yrs ago. I bought a 20’ camper and lived in a campground by myself for 5 months. At first it was exciting doing whatever I wanted. Fishing, swimming at the lake, going biking etc. Then I started feeling lonely and cabin fever kicked in. I’m glad we got back together. It’s still a positive memory but I understand how van life could be.
I hope she didn’t get back with you after being with another dude and it not working out… otherwise I feel bad, you are not her main focus. Otherwise maybe it just was falling apart, both took a break and came back with no other lovers before.
I live in the city in my van, I have found it is the best tool for socializing. I park at a park and ride and use the metro for a lot of travel. I do salsa dancing on Thursdays downtown, I do rock climbing on Tuesdays. Made a bunch of friends and will hang with them on the weekends. This video just proves if you live in a place with nothing to do, then there is nothing to do. Iv only stayed in a Walmart once in 3 years. Also dude needs a toilet.
I don’t think that life is suitable for cats in general. They like stability - knowing that when they look out of the door in the morning the view is going to be exactly the same as it was the day before. Plus most cats don’t like travelling in vehicles. Some learn to tolerate it, but given a choice they’d rather not.
This is exactly why I'm looking forward to my adventure, which will not be filmed for TH-cam or any other social media; not that I don't appreciate what you do, but man, I can see what hard work goes into making the finished product, and I know that I couldn't sustain the energy necessary to put out new content every few days long term. You are a great teacher, man. Thanks!
This honestly would be a dream come true for me. I can go days without hearing my own voice out loud and not mind it too much, let alone other peoples. You've said before that Van Life isn't for everyone, but after this I'm solidly convinced. It's absolutely for me. Gonna start looking more into it
Seeing someone be a real human is a rare thing these days. This video is very refreshing and still makes me want to vanlife as soon as my own circumstances allow 👍😎 subscribed!
Great idea showing this. Im a social anti social person. If thats a thing. I prefer to be alone and do things on my own and usually try to stick to it. But if I am in a social situation, I can shine. Alone time is a good thing. But it can get a little dicey on the mind at times imo. Every now and again I realize that I need to socialize a little more. Im thankful for that realization because I'd see things getting a little cloudy if I wasn't able to. And people may not realize the implications that may come from being alone for so long isolated in a van on the road far from home base.
Consider a job as an expediter in a van. Not as fancy but it was pretty awesome. Did it for two years. Whenever you go somewhere scenic, you can be out of service and go exploring. I’m antisocial too and loved spending time in rural areas of iowa, kansas, Minnesota, and the dakotas.
Fr been alone this way for a long time in way it’s peaceful but also heartbreaking when you know what all you could have around you, but everyday we are here supporting and loving everything you do keep living life and enjoying it !
ive often thought that - retired and at home could also be retired and with a van life. i guess it depends on the bodies ability to withstand the toils of driving and sitting for prolonged periods in the van seat.
This is the reality of life in general-the monotony is something so many people think isn’t there and something is wrong with them. Love that you showed this, thanks for sharing your travels! (I just found you today-we are FT 5er but dream of Va life after kids).
We as humans are not by designed to be "robots" .Monotony and the grind feels familiar, safe, secure, and comfortable. I believe it to be just skimming across the surface of life. How does one grow in a sterile environment? try doing something completely insane. like gamble ALLLL of your money and sell all your "things" Maybe end up in Vegas or some native American camp in the sierra mountains.. then when it all comes crashing down... sit in that seedy hotel room alone.... Embrace that feeling. that feeling is so intense and overpowering, yet sit still and embrace it. Effing hell of a ride! Now what???
Dude…..this was actually really fun to watch! It’s literally just peaceful/regular day. Something I look very forward to once I eventually get my van going.
I love how you show the world the raw side of it all and this is why I believe you and your channel will go so far. Your content is raw it's real. Just know one thing, even on your lonely days you have us all here for you and thank you for allowing us to be apart of your journey and it doesn't matter if it's stealth or mountains or just Walmart we love your videos. Much love
Thanks for making this side of van life, after living in a stressful environment with a narcissistic family, getting annoyed with people around me, this is absolutely the type of life id welcome and go for
This other half of van life is so calming. I love the quiet mornings, the casual walk to the store, the breakfast, the road trip to the gym to exercise and clean up, the uninterrupted video-gaming, the big dinner, and the darkness in my cave before bedtime.
You still get all of that living in a house. Literally everything you said can still be done living in a house. And best part about having a house is you don’t have to sleep in a Walmart parking lot. You know what’s even better about having a house? You don’t have to take a dump 3 feet away from where you sleep, cook, play video games. It would smell like straight @$$ in that little van
Yet with a van you can do it anywhere with it costing way less. And if you can work a job that doesnt require you to meet up somewhere you are chilling@@The_snatch_wrecker
TH-cam is amazing. I've just got recommended this and I will now watch another 10 videos. This is so relaxing and after my open heart surgery I've become so aware of little things I used to neglect before. Being present in the moment is so rewarding no matter how mundane the moment might seem like. there is some charming beauty in simplicity of ordinary daily routine. P. S. Your van is fantastic
11:25 I love the roof lights! Looks really cool. I really love how he showed the "other half" of van life. The food he fixed, all of it, looked delicious!!! Thumbs up.
Your actual portrayal of daily van/car/RV living is spot on hence the reason I love my RV full time life. Wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s great to see people your age living more authentically without constraints. Love seeing your channel grow Ryan, you deserve it. Life should be about making memories and cultivating meaningful relationships along the way. Your content makes all that shine even on your quiet, alone days.
@@Ryantwomeyy Good to see you take precautions to stay safe on the road. Some of the most gracious people are in the nomadic lifestyle community. I’m stationary right now in my hometown, just a few clicks from Tampa. As you head north, a great stop over is Panama City Beach, one of Florida’s prettiest beaches in my opinion. You’ll get some great content there if you stop over for a day.
Man, I would love this! I don’t like being around people and have a lot of anxiety in big crowds. Traveling the country and just being in your thoughts, I’d probably enjoy this full-time if I had to.
This is pretty much how I spend my days already. As I’ve gotten older being alone doesn’t bother me, I thrive being solitary as much as I do with other people.
Props to you making this. Not everything in life is glamorous and show quantity. Life is hard and lonely. Thank you for showing the reality of “van-life”
Great contribution! What I would also mention is that after cooking, especially frying, every piece of fabric is soaked with aroma :) Also regarding washing clothes and cleaning the van thoroughly quite often, since it's a small place and pretty much exposed to the outside environment. With so much stuff inside, something is bound to brake down and needs fixing or mending.
Dude, this is my new favorite channel. I love your videos because they let me vicariously live van life through you, and these videos make that experience more authentic. I wait for your videos like it's a new episode of a show! Keep up the great work man!
did the RV life for 3 years and there’s 100% the positives and 110% negatives. As an extrovert finding a campground with a community that are full timers is amazing because they typically do community weekly events. Otherwise you’re alone, which I can only take for so long. The lugging your poop and pee if for some reason the RV can’t make it to the sewage hookup. The need to shower in public spaces all the time. No wifi in some places. I do miss the adventure and being able to get up and go. I miss the people I would meet and community that can be built through it. Living with other people can either be a downfall or upside. Having a pet is amazing when doing this type of life style. Same with outdoor adventures, just parking somewhere and being able to stay. There’s a lot of pros and cons, just ask yourself if you can really stand it all
All your negatives can be solved by proper denign considerations in van builds. Many people have water tanks for in van showers and have compostable or dry toilets, for example.
I've been following your channel for a while now and although I love seeing you visit amazing places and ticking boxes off of your bucket list, it's good that you show this as well. People always seem to feel that everyone's life is packed with amazing experiences and everything's all pretty, but we never share the stuff that's painful. Lonely. Boring. Confronting. And I understand that you'd probably not put all of life's misery on display, it's good to see some balance. Good luck on your trip and have fun, whatever that means for you ❤
It's a bit like gaming, 90% grind, 10% mad excitement. Good for us to see it's not all unicorns and rainbows. Really impressive what you're doing so kudos to you. And as other commentators have said, even the boring is interesting.
This video made me want to partake in vanlife even more! It's perfect for an ambivert. Chill with my mates and/or stay at my parents place for a couple days. Then recharge by being alone for a week or two.
I was thinking of getting into this for this reason, travel down to my hometown, come back up to austin to visit fam. But also, as a business it'd be cool to provide them like a quick place to rest, get a good internet connection (2gbps speeds or some shit for their mobile downloads updates etc) a charger station for their batteries, some propane, etc. could do it for an all inclusive package they stay at for something where they could get together for that 'meeting people' or if they think it's worthwhile a subscription that is ~ like 10 stays but it gives them unlimited for 6 months or something like that and they just pay for anything they get at the convenience store section." ETA: yes like a truckstop before anyone says anything, but more tailored to their needs as someone living the mobile lifestyle
Huge life tip: you can mute the ads at gas pumps by clicking the buttons by the screen. Each screen has one button the mutes the audio. I haven't listened to any of those ads since someone nice left a helpful note on a pump in New Hampshire one day over 5 years ago.
I’m not sure why I’m drawn to your channel but now that you’re doing the point to point trip I find myself looking forward to your posts. I’ve been full time in my rv since I retired in 2011. Love being on my own and being alone as much as I want.
That's exactly what I do! I've taken dozens of classes n zoom events. I've learned so much in the last 2 years. I'm in a virtual university that costs me nothing. Its fantastic
@@Ryantwomeyy I love that man. You deserve it so so so much. Not only is your content great but you have this positivity about you and humility that most people struggle to find in themselves and I can tell it’s genuine. You’re helping me through a lot of tough stuff right now. Appreciate you Ryan
Thank you for this. I'm heavily considering starting van life in 6 years estimated. I'm glad I got this perspective as I'm definitely one who tends to keep to themselves.
I personally love the quiet and enjoy my time alone, but it's SO MUCH MORE fulfilling to travel with my girlfriend. I don't feel so alone and got to laugh much more 😄 love your videos keep em coming!
Honestly this seems pretty relaxing. I can see myself enjoying this for a month or two. Just getting away from everything, living fairly simple, and having most of the essentials wherever I go. I would make a few adjustments like make space for my PC and Switch. I'd bring my cables to hook up my phone to the monitor to watch Netflix while I eat. But I would eventually want the open space of a home again, and I couldn't do this and not work. Even without many living expenses, food, gas, propane tanks and a few other essentials along with phone and streaming service bills would eventually catch up with me. Not to mention, a van like this isn't cheap either.
I enjoy seeing this unfiltered, "real look" for lack of a better term, into VanLife. It kinda helps remind viewers that it's not all the crazy, adventurous antics it's cracked up to be. If I were to start VanLife, I'd probably also try and schedule calling various family and friends just to check up as I travel, but that's cuz I 1) need to talk to someone, and 2) wouldn't wanna get too caught up in my own solitude (as, respectfully, it seems easy to do so). Again, though, thank you, Ryan, for this amazing, authentic look into daily VanLife
One of my favorite van life videos ever. This is what I actually dream about one day being able to buy and live in a van. The quietness, the peace. Please more of this content 🥺
There are tons of people out there who would love to do this but cannot.. myself included. Seeing stuff like this lets them live van life vicariously thru watching stuff like this. To them this is as good as the highlights.
As with anywhere and any life, however, being on the road and on the move will increase the possibility of better days, should you choose. Keep up the good work!
Hey man, I'd like to just say. Thanks for bringing us into your life. Ryan, why not take the scenic route down 98 along the gulf? Love seeing the realities of van life, many are afraid to show the mundane stuff but this accurate representation is great! good work as always, many of us are living vicariously through your journey so thanks for taking the time to document it!
i love the thought of just being able to drive and go almost wherever i want and barely even having to talk to people at all. i’ve always been an introvert so maybe that’s why. the only reason i’d be scared to do this is not knowing how to have steady enough income while being on the road 24/7
Just because u live in a van doesnt mean you cant have a job. Maintaining a salary should be as easy as living in a normal house And you might need to travel alot but you can still go around a cental area. Theres probably a few camping locations you can use too if you position yourself right

Technology has made working anywhere more possible than ever. Just get a remote job with a company or start your own business. I have a company that makes websites, but you do almost anything. A LOT of youtubers pay people regularly for video editing for example.
very nice, what I liked the most is that also nobody else was annoying and trying to talk to you. Thanks for this very helpful insight I am very confident in Vanlife now. For a couple of months atleast
If most of us would stop and think, this is what our life would probably look like. Maybe not the surroundings but all the other stuff. Thanks, Ryan for taking the time and showing us the other side.
0:02 😂 the vibe was set at that point, great video btw! This quiet side of your van life almost felt like a breather from all the noise, I enjoyed it very much :) keep it going Ryan! Much love and support from L.A ✌🏼
The primary drawbacks for me of vanlife is the inconvenience of leaving the vehicle to shower and dookie; otherwise, it's akin to solo apartment living with a bit less space.
Yep exactly my thought. You trade in showers and a toilet for a life on wheels to think to yourself "what's my next destination". The way this life is structured also allows pretty easy gig economy side quests living simply where the primary expenses are going to be maintenance, fuel, food and water...he does a fantastic job. And then social media for longer term growth, it makes complete sense honestly and it seems like a great way to reset one's life and think/explore what direction to take....and sometimes a random turn can lead something great
Some people who have vans have full bathrooms inside, toilet and shower. I mean, with van life I couldn't imagine leaving the van at night at say, 3 am to use the toilet (too dangerous). Then again, I don't live in a van, but if I did, I would have to have a full bathroom, to use the toilet at least at night or when I feel unwell and shower in the van sometimes if I feel like it. I would obviously use gym showers/public toilets during the day, whenever possible too.
some people engineer (or buy online) toilets in their vans, then dispose of the waste later, if you have any concerns of overnight bladder rushes at all, you can buy plastic urinal bottles, made the same way as gasoline containers, and with varying capacities
In my experience the grass is always greener on the other side. I used to hate living in an apartment, but besides the hollow walls I miss it. Its nice having a shower and electricity (and room). Also when something breaks or goes wrong, you don't have to pay for it or deal with it, and no yard work. Renting is great for people who live busy lifestyles, just own other assets to accumulate wealth.
@@mzpls currently working on building my own business to build revenue to use to invest, so owning that business will be a major investment. There’s all kinds of things you can invest in the key is to make more money so you have more to invest.
I love how genuine this is. Its not trying to make it seem like the best thing ever and that you are enjoying every moment of it. Its straight up and not trying to be anything. Its really open ended showing the true side, weather its fun or very basic. I really enjoyed this so much. Its being very honest and real. Please make more like this I am really intrigued. I was always skeptical about people who take the vanlife and it always seemed like the way to go. This changes my view on it and allows me to consider my options from an unbias standpoint. Absolutely amazing video. Thank you so much for making this.
Well, this was different and quite odd than what I'm used to seeing on your videos. No talking, no narration or any voice. And I loved every minute of it. Nice to just see Ryan doing his daily life. Thing is, I never get tired of watching you do what you do. It's always your personality, attitude, how you see things and your positive attitude. And I like how you talk too. Even though you don't have someone to keep you company daily. I'd love to spend a day with you but it's not possible because you on the road and I'm up here in Canada. Anyways, keep truckin' and good luck on your travels up to Alaska. Hope you discover a lot of new things and enjoy that part of the country. Will be looking forward to those chapters. Can't wait. 🤗 ☺️
Thank you for posting this. I think in today's world it's too common to compare your life to someone else's, and when you live an average life, seeing only the positive side of other's experiences can seem like you're doing something wrong. Seeing something as relatable as this video really makes me feel like I am not alone in what I may consider something as a "mundane day." I really like the idea of being independent and living simply, so I like the light you shine on vanlife. I think it is a cool concept, and this video made me feel like it's something I would consider giving a shot. The only concern I have about it is the safety. Also, is there any way to purchase a plot of land and stay within the van for a more permanent setup? Great video, keep up the good work.
Yes there is! Find a place where u can set up to stay for however long untill ur ready to move about. That's exactly what I'm doing. It's a great plan, my setup will be awsome!
This looks like the actual dream, just your average very chill mundane day but also being able to go on an adventure if you just happen to feel like it. If anything this video sold me even more on the whole concept lol
I've never considered living in a van, but it's really cool to be able to get a peek into a completely different lifestyle. Thanks for sharing the good and the not-so-good with us.
How did you feel making this? I am sure I am not the only one that will say that they appreciate you taking the time to make this and to also show people what it is like to live on the road. Looks perfect actually. Def not a loner, but def don't have to be surrounded by people to make my time count on Earth. Takes a strong person to do what you do man. Salute!
Ngl this seems great. I’m currently in a car so having the ability to actually stand up in my vehicle and cook a hot meal is fantastic. I genuinely can’t wait until I can get into a van and have all my basic necessities right there. Plus having the space all to yourself
That's where I am. About to get a divorce, 2 degrees, full time job. I can rent an apartment which is throwing $1,500 a month out the window. Considering vanning it for 5-7 years, socking the money away and then retiring somewhere cheap and buying a small house.
Not always the answer. I work full time, and I have been a home owner. I have no great desire to own a piece of land with a house on it any more though, and rent is burning money. I've been looking at van life to simplify things and in my life, not just for financial ease.
The DOPAMINE this video gives me!! The way that I can tell that I would absolutely LOVE this life.. Just Me, Myself, and I. And this is the "Worst things" video??? You are blessed my man. You are Divine. It warms my soul to see you happy and healing. I'm hoping to be out on the road soon myself. I'd love to be a part of the vanlife community asap!
you call vanlife community... but how it would be a community if you dont be phisically with them? if you could be friends with another van liver... that would be divine, but not lonelines as this... that made me change my mind even.
I got a Sprinter van few months ago and converted it. I’ve been on the road a for a few weeks at a time now and I can say it is awesome. I have my dog with me and it isn’t lonely at all and I often play MMOs with my friends/family while video chatting from the middle of nowhere. Surprisingly I get good internet though my iPhone tether most places enough to play an MMO!
Man makes me love my wife, kids and suburbian life and daily grind so much more. I’ll keep this in my playlist for when my depression kicks in. Thanks!
lol. A lot of overhead when you don't have water/toilet/electricity/gas hookup on a permanent basis. Everything is a hassle including meal prep where you can only store a small amount of food at a time.
I don't get how seeing someone have complete freedom to do anything with their time is even remotely depressing. I feel an overwhelming sense of depression for those who spend 40 hours a week just to stay afloat, get zero time with their children and spouse, and typically die with a lot of regrets. I'll happily take having unlimited freedoms and being able to travel the world to enjoy the finer things in life over that 😂
I always found it odd that vanlife seems to emphasize the loneliness factor, when in reality, you could be in a mansion and it's impact is exactly the same.
It's even lonelier, I've lived both

Dont see any people hosting guests in their van.

Totally agree

THIS is the kind of van life content I want to watch, as someone considering it. I've looked for videos like this for a while.
There are shower cabin one can build or buy as well
I would opt for a toilet & shower.
Unless one is very disciplined or out of necessity just buys a gym card to use their shower
I think it will feel like one is always travelling
And i know after a while one wants "normalcy" , but it all depends.
I think the bedplace is the most important, because all one wants is to come home & lay in bed to rest or take a hot shower
It all depends on what kind of person one is
Seeing as it is so e pensive to just exist.
I feel out of necessity & also freedom i would like the tiny home or camper/van life
Most of my time & life is spent at work, the rest is just to lay in bed/sofa to recover after a work week & doing nothing with my life but watching movies to soothe myself from the slave life one lives, so I might as well just go for the vanlife I'm thinking & save on a lot of bucks & live minimalistically . Can use the money for investments that will make for an even more self provoding future, self employment, do one doesn't have to be dependent on the system, + the freedom to work whenever & wherever you want
And to me i think the best thing would be no more noise from my neighbours
@UniqueGeekFreak Yes, a Portapotty would be a necessity for me, as well. Finding a restroom in the middle of the night, every night, is a deal breaker for me, lol.

That is the trick to getting to do this full-time while paid. I guess you could get rid of the passenger seat in a big rig to put an oven or something cool.
So true truck drivers paid to do this with cargo instead of driving around aimlessly.

98% of life as single person is spent alone in RV. I tested RV living by renting one for two weeks. I found the dreamy idea of journeying wildly fantastic, but the reality was totally different for me. Thank you for your truthfulness.

@@apartmajasna7546 thats the van life of a SINGLE Person, if thats your dream take your partner or one friend with you
I lived in an RV on and off for years.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
So many van life and TH-camrs in general do this and while I get the shots are nice it definitely comes off as inauthentic and kinda cringey.
Like last video I watched a dude literally walked in a laundromat with his dirty clothes and I’m just like “So… you walked into the laundromat just to set up cameras to capture you walking in… that’s kinda extra but ok”
Don't ruin the magic dude! Sheesh 😅

You people can't do that now? Living in a van isn't going to fix that...
You know what I don’t have to air out??? My house @ElizabethSanto22

Fantastic + van = vantastic .
this felt so comfortable and familiar. it’s a lot like my own van life. no words necessary. just living and doing.
11:25 I love the roof lights! Looks really cool. I really love how he showed the "other half" of van life. The food he fixed, all of it, looked delicious!!! Thumbs up.
For some reason watching this dude live in a van and do his thing is super relaxing. Lol. Keep it up Ryan, you the man.
Im hoping to meet more people on this trip than i normally do (typically i keep to myself cause thats how i like it)
@@Ryantwomeyy Good to see you take precautions to stay safe on the road. Some of the most gracious people are in the nomadic lifestyle community. I’m stationary right now in my hometown, just a few clicks from Tampa. As you head north, a great stop over is Panama City Beach, one of Florida’s prettiest beaches in my opinion. You’ll get some great content there if you stop over for a day.
i love this, as an introvert i feel so calm looking at your videos.
This is video is a masterpiece. The editing and the silence being such a cool reality to this while lifestyle. Love it
Man, I would love this!
People can also be dangerous, there is always danger in everything
Why not doing it part time. Or just for short times. I don't think you always needs to be 100 full timer.
Lots of false expectations
I've been following your channel for a while now and although I love seeing you visit amazing places and ticking boxes off of your bucket list, it's good that you show this as well. People always seem to feel that everyone's life is packed with amazing experiences and everything's all pretty, but we never share the stuff that's painful. Lonely. Boring. Confronting. And I understand that you'd probably not put all of life's misery on display, it's good to see some balance. Good luck on your trip and have fun, whatever that means for you ❤
Easy to watch to the end. No drama, no glamerizing. I believe that this is an honest depiction!

It's a bit like gaming, 90% grind, 10% mad excitement. Good for us to see it's not all unicorns and rainbows. Really impressive what you're doing so kudos to you. And as other commentators have said, even the boring is interesting.
I almost titled this video “the most boring video you will ever watch” 😂
This video made me want to partake in vanlife even more!
It's perfect for an ambivert.
Chill with my mates and/or stay at my parents place for a couple days.
Then recharge by being alone for a week or two.
Thats how I feel I am.
I was thinking of getting into this for this reason, travel down to my hometown, come back up to austin to visit fam. But also, as a business it'd be cool to provide them like a quick place to rest, get a good internet connection (2gbps speeds or some shit for their mobile downloads updates etc) a charger station for their batteries, some propane, etc.
could do it for an all inclusive package they stay at for something where they could get together for that 'meeting people' or if they think it's worthwhile a subscription that is ~ like 10 stays but it gives them unlimited for 6 months or something like that and they just pay for anything they get at the convenience store section."
ETA: yes like a truckstop before anyone says anything, but more tailored to their needs as someone living the mobile lifestyle
I LOVE seeing the real side of this journey you are taking. Keep up the good work and show some more of that awesome tattoo if you can !
I LOVE YOU
This is awesome. You have plenty of time to be learning literally any skills you could ever want to and you have the resources to do it.
That's exactly what I do! I've taken dozens of classes n zoom events. I've learned so much in the last 2 years. I'm in a virtual university that costs me nothing. Its fantastic
Thanks for telling the world the truth! I'm sick and tired of "influencers" who are living a lie whatever they are doing.
I can’t wait until Ryan is getting 1-3 million views a video. So deserving of it at this point. You’re unreal bro

I appreciate you homie. Truly means the world to me that even 1 person enjoys watching these videos
@@Ryantwomeyy I love that man. You deserve it so so so much. Not only is your content great but you have this positivity about you and humility that most people struggle to find in themselves and I can tell it’s genuine. You’re helping me through a lot of tough stuff right now. Appreciate you Ryan
“Loneliness is dangerous. It’s addicting. Once you see how peaceful it is, you don’t wanna deal with people.”
This ^^^
And can you blame ppl who live this life when society is the way it is? Lol
Have yourself committed and see how loneliness helps you, I hear solitary confinement is good if you don’t want any human interaction.
“They say humans are social creatures, they can’t live alone. But you can live pretty well by yourself.”
My life in a quote
These are my favorite types of videos. I imagine there's lots of time spent in your head when you're not talking to your audience.
I feel this shit yo , you're right but a part time warehouse job outta do it honestly then you could just save
I love everything about this. Peace, Quiet and Freedom
It’s the best can’t wait to start
And loneliness
One of my favorite van life videos ever. This is what I actually dream about one day being able to buy and live in a van. The quietness, the peace. Please more of this content 🥺
Yup more quiet, alone content. I love it.
There are tons of people out there who would love to do this but cannot.. myself included. Seeing stuff like this lets them live van life vicariously thru watching stuff like this. To them this is as good as the highlights.
Agreed 1000%
There are only like 1 or 2 legit reason why you can't do this, rest of them are excuses.
@@DuBstep115 sure, but those 1 or 2 reasons are usually pretty huge barriers.
@@Charlie-yv3ib Yes, like being quadriplegic. Not because you have kids

Hey man, I'd like to just say. Thanks for bringing us into your life. Showing us this fantastic way of life, and might sound goofy, but the fact you didn't say anything and just let us view, really gave it a real life experience, I appreciate your choice as, youtubes being your gifted platform, to express, it's just dope man, so chill, so calm 💯🤘

Ryan, why not take the scenic route down 98 along the gulf? Love seeing the realities of van life, many are afraid to show the mundane stuff but this accurate representation is great! good work as always, many of us are living vicariously through your journey so thanks for taking the time to document it!
I van life drove that area of the panhandle before Christmas. I am at the space coast now.
i love the thought of just being able to drive and go almost wherever i want and barely even having to talk to people at all. i’ve always been an introvert so maybe that’s why. the only reason i’d be scared to do this is not knowing how to have steady enough income while being on the road 24/7
Just because u live in a van doesnt mean you cant have a job. Maintaining a salary should be as easy as living in a normal house
And you might need to travel alot but you can still go around a cental area. Theres probably a few camping locations you can use too if you position yourself right
@@joefamliyguy1551 yeah i’m aware of that i was saying that i don’t know where to start looking if i were to do what he’s doing idk what occupation he has. ik you can have jobs traveling and stuff i just don’t know where to start looking for them

this was so peaceful, that my typical day without living in a Van. thanks for posting this
this actually looks so peaceful to me. a beautiful simple life and humble life.
If most of us would stop and think, this is what our life would probably look like. Maybe not the surroundings but all the other stuff. Thanks, Ryan for taking the time and showing us the other side.
No doubt bro, I live alone in an apt and this would be my life if it were filmed in an apt instead of a van lol
Possibly one of the most of the best videos ive seen on you tube. Loneliness can be a killer look after yourself man
maybe one of the most important vanlife videos you'll ever see, and its just quietly showing an average day of a vanlifer. brilliant.
Plus not being able to stand up and stretch inside the van unless you're really short
some people engineer (or buy online) toilets in their vans, then dispose of the waste later, if you have any concerns of overnight bladder rushes at all, you can buy plastic urinal bottles, made the same way as gasoline containers, and with varying capacities
In my experience the grass is always greener on the other side. I used to hate living in an apartment, but besides the hollow walls I miss it. Its nice having a shower and electricity (and room). Also when something breaks or goes wrong, you don't have to pay for it or deal with it, and no yard work. Renting is great for people who live busy lifestyles, just own other assets to accumulate wealth.
what other assets do you plan on owning / own?
@@mzpls currently working on building my own business to build revenue to use to invest, so owning that business will be a major investment.
I’d like to take that money and invest it into cash flowing assets like dividend stocks, real estate (renting it out) or maybe buying other businesses or doing loans for equity/interest.
There’s all kinds of things you can invest in the key is to make more money so you have more to invest.
It feels like we're all there right with you. To be quite honest we wouldn't all fit in the van. Great video Ryan!
Everyone is welcome
I love how genuine this is. Its not trying to make it seem like the best thing ever and that you are enjoying every moment of it. Its straight up and not trying to be anything. Its really open ended showing the true side, weather its fun or very basic. I really enjoyed this so much. Its being very honest and real. Please make more like this I am really intrigued. I was always skeptical about people who take the vanlife and it always seemed like the way to go. This changes my view on it and allows me to consider my options from an unbias standpoint. Absolutely amazing video. Thank you so much for making this.
This kind of content is actually relaxing to watch. I hope more of this videos soon.
truly one of my favorite vanlife setups. your van looks amazing, and one of the best ones i've seen made
Well, this was different and quite odd than what I'm used to seeing on your videos.
Great video showing the reality. Seeking beautiful places to be at can’t be everyday but prob the best part of it.
I've never considered living in a van, but it's really cool to be able to get a peek into a completely different lifestyle. Thanks for sharing the good and the not-so-good with us.
did 502K people really watch this entire video where the most eventful thing was watching this incel shave in a parking lot? wow america. just wow.
Salute!
Having been in a tent for 15 months, this is like 5star stuff to me.
I’m shocked at how low I’ve sunk.
You good bro?
Just think like this, it's a temporary situation. It can only go up from here. Good luck and keep smiling!
I was in the same position but Jesus makes a way where there is no way

I’m so sorry. Hang in there.
Ngl this seems great. I’m currently in a car so having the ability to actually stand up in my vehicle and cook a hot meal is fantastic. I genuinely can’t wait until I can get into a van and have all my basic necessities right there.
Plus having the space all to yourself
Imagine having a full time job but still couldn't afford to get a house tells everything you need to know how broken society is today.
It’s toxic capitalism finally beginning to take its toll.

Thanks!
😂
lol. A lot of overhead when you don't have water/toilet/electricity/gas hookup on a permanent basis. Everything is a hassle including meal prep where you can only store a small amount of food at a time.
Giggle
I don't get how seeing someone have complete freedom to do anything with their time is even remotely depressing. I feel an overwhelming sense of depression for those who spend 40 hours a week just to stay afloat, get zero time with their children and spouse, and typically die with a lot of regrets. I'll happily take having unlimited freedoms and being able to travel the world to enjoy the finer things in life over that 😂
