Our 15 year old son took his life a few days ago. We've been struggling, crying and asking questions ever since. The pain goes away a little more every day and God is the one comforting us. I hope the folks at Casting Crowns know how God hugged us through your song.

My big sister died about 2 hours ago.... God blessed us with the gift of time earlier today, after not being able to communicate she suddenly "woke" up and we were both able to look into each other's eyes and say everything we both needed to say to one another as she was leaving this world. Scars of Heaven has given me peace and hope. To those that weren't able to do that? I believe and feel in my soul that you too will be given that gift with those you loved in another time, in another place as you hug them and tell them of your love. This life is gone in a blink of an eye.... heaven is being reunited for an eternity. Hold tight to your faith and beliefs, don't waver.... Gods got this. 💕

I lost my big sister not long ago. I thought loosing my mom was hard. I wasnt pre-pared for how and when my sis left. It blind sided me. Her 2 kids took it better than me. My mom was always at work. Lil did I know I was about to burry my sister/mom. She was both and I took it for granted thinking she would burry me. I was very wrong and very un prepared. I don't listen to much music but God used this one to help mend my heart. I lost my daughter almost 2 years ago. She was a believer in Christ. For the first time, I got past my hurt and saw her in the arms of her saviour whom she loved. It gave me peace and comfort for the first time since her passing.

I don't think the band Casting Crowns fully realize what an impact this song has on millions of people, the comfort and peace that it brings. I heard this song driving my car and I had to pull over because I was crying so hard I couldn't drive anymore. There on the side of the road I fully understood the meaning of grace. This song did more for me than all the preaching and churches i have gone to for the last 50 years combined. What a testimony.

My mom just passed away this last Saturday Sept 9th after a 4 year battle with severe dementia. My dad and I were her caregivers, able to care for her at home. I started listening to this song more the last couple weeks, to help prepare for this time. I played it for her last week, sang it and cried by her bedside. It is the most beautiful reminder and moving song about the other side of death after this life. Knowing she is pain free, no more fear and sadness. Happy and whole in the Hands of Jesus.
Now today I am listening to it again and again to help get me through the grief and aching sadness of losing my mom. It’s healing and so perfect to give peace and comfort. Casting Crowns, Mark, the story behind this song and the lyrics are an anthem for life with Christ on this earth and the power of His Word for the hope of heaven with Him. Thank you for allowing God to use you and your talent to create a song so amazing. It is helping me and countless others be able to bear the pain of our loss while we wait for our day to come when we will be reunited with those we love. It will make the days ahead bearable. I will have this played at her service in the spring. Thank you!

Hi Keven, my sincere condolences for the sudden loss of your wife. I know it's really hard after being joined spiritually for 31 years as I'm in the same boat as you. Only my wife of 31 years died slowly of cancer. Never the less, such is a great loss of a spouse. We need to continue having faith and trust in our Lord that one day, we will rise up together in paradise.

I lost my 18 year old daughter in 1998, my 7 year old grandson in 2010, and my husband of almost 40 years in 2015. This beautiful song brings way of picturing them in heaven (they were all believers), knowing they are pain free and basking in the presence of the Lord. My best friend had is sung at her husband's funeral today. What a blessing!

Just yesterday I found her wallet in the back of a dusty dresser drawer. Her drivers license and bank debit card and I was surprised to unfold a slip of paper containing a poem
I had written to her on our wedding day. I had forgotten about it and never knew she carried it in her wallet. I felt like I was erasing her when I finally gave her clothes away. I guess I was stupid... couldn’t give her clothes away for six months. What was I waiting for? Expecting her to walk through the door and fuss at me because now she didn’t have anything to wear, lol. Sorry.. didn’t mean to ramble. My heart still hurts.

As I was reading the comments, every one of us has been personally affected by losing loved ones. I know death is a thing that happens everyday, but when it hits home, it hits hard. I know how you feel I Lost my dad last Dec 10th and my brother November 30th and my aunt that lived with me on Christmas day at 12:10am
I lost my mother one month ago. About a year ago she got diagnosed with cancer. The doctor said she had about a 50% chance of survival if she took chemo... she said she'd take a 100% chance on Jesus. For the next year, she never took any pain medication. She didn't take chemo, and she didn't enter the hospital once. For most people, there were only two options on the table: Death or supernatural healing. My mother didn't believe in either. For her, there was a 3rd option on the table. And that was Jesus. She didn't believe in death or healing, she believed in Jesus. He was her reward. He was the only answer. The only outcome. She used to say this a lot: "Whether by life or by death HE IS ENOUGH FOR ME." And her last words were "He's got me." And that was her legacy. She's the "lucky one". She got to live out her favorite verse: "But for me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 3:10. And what a life to rejoice!
Our 22 year old son took his life this past Monday and we have been grieving and in so much pain. This song popped up and I want to personally Thank Casting Crowns for this song. God is helping us heal and this song is bringing us so much comfort right now.

I lost my 4 Yorkie kids in 2020 - jokingly say now it was Dogrona but they were all 14-15 yrs & I am only standing here today because of Jesus! I prayed to see them again one day soon and sooooo believe that I will - cant wait to be with them again - they are as much 'human' to some of us! as human family are. All dogs go to heaven!

I heard this song for the first time last week, my husband has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. The song reminded me of two things, where my husband will be as a believer and that I still have time to love him well, say all the things I need to say and do for him. GOD has blessed me with this piece of time I still have with him.

While I do believe that God is the only one who should give and take life, I also believe that if a person has ever accepted Christ, then their eternity in Heaven is sealed. God forgives lots of our shortcomings, and I sincerely believe He forgives suicide.

Donnie is gone but he is no longer in pain! The tumers he had were huge and painful! His doctors had no idea how to treat his Merkel Cell. Merkel Cell is so rare. By the time his doctor sent him to MD Anderson Cancer Institute, in Houston, his kidneys had started to fail. The cancer was everywhere, all over his body. It was too late to help him! He asked me to be strong and to let him go! He asked me to let him be with "Toto" and his "Pawpaw" in Heaven. Keeping this promise I made to him is possibly the second most difficult thing I've ever had to do. The most difficult thing I've ever done was to let my baby go! Thank you Casting Cross for this song. It plays every night at 9:PM to remind me of how blessed I am to have had the chance to say goodbye to my baby one last time until, "I'm standing with him in the sun", "and I can see what he can see".

I want my daughter to play this at my remembrance. 40 years ago, I was in a head-on collision that was caused by a drunk driver. I was injured so bad they didn't expect me to survive. Needless to say, I did but my life has been hard with mutiple surgeries and unbearable pain. My daughter also struggles since she has Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, and Anxiety and Depression. Some day we will both be free of the pain, both physically and mentally. HALLELUJAH!!!

We surrounded my Mother's bed and played it for her, then surrounded her with prayer. A very emotional moment, I commented that I wanted to hear the lyrics again. Even better, my niece texted me the lyrics. I read them thru. As I reached reached the last chorus and the last phrase, I looked up and my Mother took her last breath on this earth.

It was played at his service, 4 years ago. It still makes me cry every time. And now, “scars in heaven” is so amazing . I cry with joy for my husband but my heart aches without him.

This was after he did it to pay off her home, and put her, not his, kids through college using his social security. He did it on Wednesday, their divorce would have been finalized on Friday. But, she refused to stop it. We should have known something didn’t add up. And, he had tried it two other times. But, God pulled him through for us. The last was a bullet through his temple. This is a very anointed song - wish I had known about it years ago- it's comforting and a reminder that my son Lawrence is now at peace with Jesus and will never have a worry again in this old world--i Still feel the void though- JESUS is the only one who can give REAL comfort. It will be 10 years on July 21st that I had to say good bye to my husband, my best friend. We were holding hands as he left this earth...I imagine Christ taking his hand from mine and bringing him into Heaven. This song says it all...Thank you for sharing it.

5 years for me on Aug. 25th since my husband and best friend met Jesus. I too was holding his hand when he left this world. 😪 We were married 51 years and 4 days, and on that very day a great grandson was born. That date is a bittersweet one.
@Jo In I've never experienced that loss, so I don't have any idea how that feels from either perspective. But I know that the God in heaven will hold you both through it all.
Live every moment overflowing with love. Cling to Jesus. Praise the Lord, even when you don't see why you should. Because there is always something to thank Him for, even when we feel like there's absolutely nothing left for us.
You are not a failure. Everyone has a time set before them, and the Lord has numbered their days carefully. He knows what He's doing. We just have to believe Him, sometimes while begging for Him to help our unbelief.
Your wife may not understand, but sometimes this kind of thing is where God gets the glory. The Lord can comfort both of you, and show you how He can heal. He can show you out of the abundance of His mercy and grace that there is no one like Him. And, He may not heal you in the way you may think, but His ways are higher than our ways.
There is not a sparrow that falls or a flower that fades without Him knowing. He sees your pain. He loves you more than you could ever know.
When the pain and heartache become greater than you can bear, remember that Jesus walks beside you. He won't leave you alone.
