Great video fellas, but as a pure Fiefdoms player, I think I have to disagree with a few of your takes. It felt to me that your ranking criteria was too heavily weighted towards the utility each model brings in alliances. In pure fiefdoms, men-at-arms are easily your most important warrior profile. They expand Imrahil's effective buff range and allow you to throw so many dice if you play optimally. It's hard to lose fights with these guys, and if you're backing up a clansman or axemen, it's hard not to kill. The Blackroot Vale Archer/Duinhir combo too, shouldn't be underrated. In a pure list, I usually bring 10-12 of them every game
Thanks for sharing your insight as a pure fiefdoms player! Your points make sense. It's been awhile since Ian has played it pure and while Alex is a pure player, he hasn't really been apart of the competitive scene for too long.
Insightful listing, can't say I've been using correctly. I know I should be pike supporting my Axemen and Clansmen, but often I don't pay attention and waste them supporting foot knights instead.
Imrahil and Boromir are a major combo! Plus dol amroth captain! The * in the list means all troops get it! I just can’t find the men-at-arms!? So only played with knights!
In practice the *No pike Phalanx special rule* never really affected me. Nobody forces you to Stack 30dudes base to base like a smoothbrain. Just deploy them in 3man deep Teams with space between the Teams but not enough for infantry to fit through. This way you can Always make way No Problem while covering more are. I use 30+ men at arms regularily. Beats the other two Options in my opinion
Great vid ! I would personally put the mounted knights much higher. Maybe the captain too. Could you do Minas Tirith on youtube next ? I would like this very much !
Agreed. At 9 points (or 10 if from a design perspective they want to keep D6 a premium) they would be brought in line with the rest of the troop options! -Charles
Video is great a lot of fair points, yet it's difficult for me to understand clansman's position. Yes, do usually take few of them, for their courage, but they aren't usually essential, more like support. D4 and two handed? Why, You may take axeman with D5 and choice to either fight two- or single-handed, with potential support. But I only run Fiefdoms 3 times, so maybe I just can't see full potentials of kilt bros. Greetings from Poland!
Both are great warrior profiles, but the 2 extra courage is a huge boost, and with them being so cheap while the d4 isn't great, they can horde out so it balances out. Plus the 2H is better than the regular 2H!
Some interesting points made fellas. Have to disagree on the Pikes, they’re easily better than the axemen and clansmen. Pikes are so good, F5 pikes are even better, F5 pikes rerolling 1s to wound are insane. In a pure list these guys should be well over half your army.
Definitely for pure lists! I’ve not yet allied anything other than Imrahil in yet so I’d still go with men at arms, but I can see the argument if you’re allying Forlong or Angbor in I suppose!
I completely disagree with Dunhir! I've played with fiefs twice and against them about 4 times and every time I have seen him perform horribly! I just don't see him ever being taken over Angbor and ai think fiefs have w really tough time in a shooting battle due to the troops being so expensive and the fact that you want to take all the heroes. With what was said about Betrayer vs Dunhir I think that despite dunhir having better archers, the fact that he just cannot have near as many as the betrayer just makes him so much worse. I also thing his low corage and the fact that the archers are only fight 3 and C2 really hurts. Although it may be the fact that I only played 600-400 points games with or against fiefs so maybe he just works better there, but I think he belongs in minor where the noobs put him
Yeah, if you play 800 with pure fiefdoms you would definitely take him and max out the bows. Adds another dimension to the list but I definitely rate Angbor higher.
I hate that he is shit. I wanna like him. BUT HE IS JUST TRASH. This is coming from a dude who plays shooting heavy armies, he should be my favourite You only take him if you have already taken all the names hero's. But even then might take a Cpt over him -Sean
can we stop calling everything F6, F5. yeah you can get there but you can't count on it all game or when you absolutely need it. 3in arura is nice but it's not that big when the lines start to clash.
I'm going to have to agree on the high praising of the F5 3" reach bubble and the pike extension of the Imrahil banner reach. These depend on certain battle lines being drawn, but you have objective markers that spreads things out, Maelstrom deployment making a mess, and the occasional competitive opponent who is wise to such tactics.
I've been planning to start Fiefdoms shortly; so perfectly timed video! Listening now. Thanks y'all!

This video could not have come at a better time - I'm working on a Fiefdom's list now. Thanks for the great insights and video y'all! - F&A Ian
Awesome, great to hear!
Switching from dunland and I think I’m going to start running these guys for my good army.
Good choice! I can see some similarities between the two!

Totally agree here. If you play correctly, it's almost never an issue
30+ Men at Arms!? Interesting, sadly they're no longer made of metal for me to justify getting that many.
@@Sacrilege83 i am using Perry foot knights. Very nice fit 👍
@@Jewus19 they're 28mm scale as well!? I just might give them a buy.
@@Sacrilege83 yes, fits style and size wise nicely. also is not nearly as ridiculously long and brittle as resin.

Minas Tirith is on the short list, we got a few coming beforehand but sooooon!!
@@intothewestpodcast very good then 👌 !!!
Love the fiefdoms. Wish they could get tweaked a bit to bring the foot knights to a better level, but still a fun army.
Agreed. At 9 points (or 10 if from a design perspective they want to keep D6 a premium) they would be brought in line with the rest of the troop options!

@@intothewestpodcast wouldn't it be amazing if the "big thing" coming was a points balance? Aaaahhh, we can dream
Might push me into starting an army! Been eyeing these guys for a while

Do it, easy ally with your Rohan too!
Ah, the Good synergy army.
Love the reference to rugby ❤
lads! lets go! i know brayden would have a few words for this ranking, but i think its spot on 😄👌

Sorry I can't understand this tier list as the categories aren't named correctly 😁🤷♂
Sorry, still researching what "Lemon" means 😂
I'm going to say this before watching the listing. Horns and banner will go into the Independent bin.
We didn’t rank wargear, but if we did then war horn definitely! Banner, maybe a little higher from bottom as it gives VPs in certain scenarios.
Nevermind, troop banners and horns weren't even mentioned. You would only take a single banner for scenario VPs anyway.
As a general comment on your tier lists,
They could be renamed "Ian makes god tier takes while group of guys try to gaslight him"
We'll let Ian know he has a #1 fan :)

I can see the argument in a pure list. In an allied list, especially without Imrahil, I’d argue Axeman and clansmen offer more utility than the pikes.

Fiefdoms are the most (historical ) medival army in the game. It sometimes feels like they don't even belong here😂
GW’s design of their look is definitely taken straight out of history, as are GW’s Khand and Dunland 😅
@@intothewestpodcast khand? You mean the Samurai mongols?😆 at least they are ab bit unique

I see your point, I agree it's not a big area but I'd be surprised if you don't get at least a mini death ball of F5 around Imrahil every game.
