- Johnny Cash doing "I Walk The Line" concludes our trip down memory lane. This blast from the past is from Tex Ritter's Ranch Party tv show for the 1950's.

If you notice, Johnny isn't even playing chords, only strumming a muted guitar for percussion as they did not yet have a drummer, hence the Tennessee "Two". I think that this might be miming to the recorded single, but not bad for the times. Luther is animated as usual. Pure history here. This is the first Johnny Cash song that I learned on guitar. Absolutely timeless!❤
Or it could be Marshall Grant making the percussion by slapping the strings of the bass.
This is the youngest he's looked in anything I've seen. I've always thought he looked a lot older than his age.
Thanks for watching. It's one of the few times he's not the man in black. If you like JC make sure you watch "Five Minutes To Live" where he plays a tommy gun wielding crook. th-cam.com/video/kMyVNKO2_6M/w-d-xo.html
Reading his autobiography actually sheds alot of light on this exact performance. I can't remember every detail but i think I remember him saying that white suit was made by his mother, so that is why he wore it there, and something about how this was his "first performance" as a star. It's been years since i read that book but its worth it for anyone who is a fan of his.
This was before the drugs got ahold of him.
I see the resemblance between him and Phoenix when he was younger.
Ppl say I look like both of them
It’s not even close. Completely different bone structure.
@@tonalambiguity3345 yeah but phoenix definitely nailed johnny’s mannerisms and overall attitude.
Fenix is 5'6 maybe 7 johnny was 6'2
@@masethemenace9983 you do ,👍🏽
I've never seen Johnny look this young. Handsome man.
@MarcosBryant-mr7jwhis voice and his face
I feel like Johnny Cash is one of those people whos fame just couldn't change him no matter how famous he was.
And thank God for that man was true to the very end
we wish you were here
First time seeing this, and I never knew how extremely handsome he was back then!!!!
My grandma was 12 when this came out and she still listens to it!
My grandma was around 19 or 20
Why grandmamananna was 10!
Imagine seeing this back then for the first time as a kid
Gotta love that strumming pattern
With Johnny not even playing chords, just strumming a muted guitar for percussion as they had no drummer yet. I think that they're miming to the recorded single, which was very common then. A very historic piece of Johnny Cash history.
when i saw his movie i fall in love with his voice
I couldn't be prouder to have found out that Johnny & I share a common ancestor. What a voice, what a lyricist!
June cash stayed on my road when she would play in Richmond my dad said he went in that house and it’s abandoned now but it’s still standing 😊
Same! Recently I just found out that Johnny and I are both descended from Adam and Eve
Not only was johnny a star but he worked well with such a wide range of other artists !!
It seemed he could get along professionally with everyone from elvis to Bob dylan !

Anybody know what year this is?
1956 I believe.
What year? 55?
1957
No 1950/1952
This was hit very first hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It debuted Sept 15th, 1956 & peaked at #17.
Wow the good old days when men were men and boys were boys
And the man in black wore white.
@@chitownsoundz2566 what exactly does that mean if you don't mind my asking?
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar Johnny is wearing white in this video!
I kno these comments were 1 yr old but if u listen to man in black he says u will never see wear a suit of white
Way cooler. Not even close.
" I walk the line " .som1 to explain the meaning plz 🙏
Johnny Cash was a man chased by personal demons ergo the "man in black" but he has a love that he doesn't fully trust. The line that he walks is the thin line between love and hate. I think it's significant that he sings this song while dressed in white. At least that's my take on it. Thanks for watching.
dont know
couldnt tell
you unless,
I, was,
there rationality
Patsy Cline preformed after Johnny.
Any 1 is Cooler than Elvis, at that matter
very complex guitar chords
The OG panty dropper!
he wears white?
This is when country music was still country music, the crap you kids listen to now days and think it's country is just sad bit hey have fun with your pop music I'll stick with the man in black
Didn’t Halsey do like a cover of this song or something?
Blue Heart yea I didn’t like it
Not arguably.. WAY COOLER!
