Angel was my signature scent for years. Yes, Angel is instantly recognizable and yet it smells like differently on each and every woman. Angel is a classic for a reason.
After wearing my signature scent for years I was about to start experimenting with other perfumes when a tough-looking body builder I occasionally worked with in the back shop of a newspaper office - a guy who rarely spoke to anyone - sidled up to me and quietly said, “I really like your perfume.” The scent was Estée Lauder’s White Linen. Needless to say, I still wear it 30 years later.
I'm 79 , and I grew up with the old elegant treasures of THE DAY 😊 . Evening In Paris , Coco Chanel , Youth Dew , are among my favorites . When I dress in my 40's vintage, I wear Evening In Paris . I also love the fashions and hair from that era to .
@@JackieSkellington Yes, I use to love and wear Chanel 22 and one time I asked at the store if they had it and they said no. So I'm going to go somewhere else and see if I can find it. Thanks for reminding me, I feel like Coco Chanel is too strong.
My most favorite was Yves St. Laurent's Opium (the original). It lasted a long time, had a beautiful fragrance and I always received compliments on this scent. They changed the formula and I never brought it again.
From Chanel, I love both: Coco Mademoiselle and Chance in its original formula, as well as the Eau Tendre and Eau Fréche varieties. From Lancôme, I still love Trêsor, no matter how old it is. I love Angel by Thierry Mugler, too. From YSL, there was an amazing fragrance called Rive Gauche that I adored. The thing is I’m a little idiosyncratic in the way I wear fragrances: I prefer fresh, citrusy, green fragrances during the day, and deeper and more seductive ones for the night, and even that depends on the occasion or whomever I’m spending my evening.
@@CAEO416 Thank you!! Your comment made me curious about Calandre and it led me to a site where many of my favorite old fragrances were listed and I had forgotten all about them, such as Ysatis and Samsara. Now I wish I could buy some of them again.

I’ve tried a ton of perfumes and Chanel brands get the most compliments. I’ve been a Mademoiselle woman for a long time but am gifting myself a small bottle of Chance to see how it works with my body chemistry. Wish they’d bring back Fragonard Eclat. Love that!
Narciso Rodriguez is the one perfume that I wear that men and women stop me and ask me what I’m wearing …they all love it!! And I like that it’s not a perfume that you hear often.

Some vintage fragrances can be found on the Vermont Country Store website ...... Evening in Paris, Arpege, Youth Dew, White Linen, L'air du Temp, Chantilly, White Shoulders, Wind Song, Elizabeth Arden 5th Ave., Heaven Sent, Beautiful, Torjours Moi, Halston and many many more.
Don't be so SURE they're actually COMPLIMENTS!! As stated before, people often ask "what're you wearing"? when they want to AVOID that fragrance!! Personally, I find La Vie est Belle heavy, overly sweet, and having some strange undertone of something that I just don't like. SORRY!! I much prefer Jimmy Choo Blossom for its light, fruity fragrance. To each his/her own I guess!!!
Thank you for another great video. I recently went to Paris for my friend's 40th birthday. Only a friend who was wearing chanel eau tendre got the most compliments. I also smelt her the most from all of us even we wore stronger fragrances in my opinion. I am surprised how delicate tendre is but it has a good sillage at the same time.
@@andreabenicky1879 I have been trying to think of this perfumes name for years now, I knew it had lilies in there but I couldn't remember. I even had a dream one time I had a bottle in my hand walking around, thank you so much!
I am surprised to often get enthusiastic reactions when I wear this!!! I am 73 and wear McClintok when seeking a lighter, brighter ambiance than the deep-spice-clove-incense-ish "oud" fragrances that I usually prefer!!!
Chanel No. 22 - the original from back in the 20s - was the most drop dead gorgeous scent I have ever smelled. I was given half a bottle back in the 70s, and honestly, I would pay an arm and a leg to have it again.
Yes, yes, yes! As soon as I started using La Vie the compliments started--from everywhere. I can't use many scents because of sensitivity but love, love, love La Vie!
It IS pretty but something about it is just way to strong for me~ love so many others a lot more for a “ to the strong” fragrance for example Channels Coco Mademoiselle.
1. "Decadence" by Marc Jacobs 2. "Light Blue" by Dolce and Gabanna 3. "Candy" by Prada 4. "Vanilla Musk" by Coty 5. "La Vida Bella" (por femme) These have always had men complimenting, and everybody turning their head to ask: "What is that perfume you have on?" I'm not a fan of "LOUD" perfumes like "Red" which everybody wore back in the day. I like musks, vanilla, and oils that have a nice scent.
@roses4me451 ... Love, Love Vanilla Musk by Coty. Been sitting in my drawer for what seems like decades and reading your comment prompted me to go spray some on and wow! oh wow! still smells out of this world fabulous! Just love it! As the day goes on the scent turns into a soft mellow musky vanilla that smells oh so sexy! Definitely a must to own and wear if you want not only compliments but to feel sexy and confident! Haven't tried Candy by Prada but hope to soon. Wondering if the scent is like Viva La Juicy Couture? That's another one of my favorites and I just LOVE "Taste" by Jessica Simpson!!! Not only it the bomb by scent but it's edible too so your significant other will not only be turned on by the scent of you but the "taste" of you as well!
My favourite, and I’ve been wearing it for over 60 yrs, is Guerlain Mitsouko, however it is slightly different than when I first started wearing it but I still always have a bottle handy! ♥️♥️

I always received compliments when I wore L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci. However, the one that I wore that got the most attention from men was Skin Musk by Bonne Bell, a little dime-store beauty, which drove men wild, in my clubbing days. I got more questions about what I was wearing from young men, and when I responded with "Skin" they'd go "No, I mean what perfume are you wearing?" I'd have to repeat myself, "Skin". P.S. I know that L'air du Temps is still available, unfortunately, Skin Musk by Bonne Bell is no longer available. Ce qui me rend triste.
L'air du temps était le parfum de ma mère. Il sent divinement bon et est très doux... Gardez-le longtemps puisque vous pouvez toujours l'acheter. Still available on ligne in France😊❤
I loved YSL Opium since I was around 10 years old. That was 50 years ago. Since I couldn’t afford it, would sample it at the perfume counter while my mother was on the second floor looking at clothes. One time a clerk working there gave me several samples of it and talk about being in seventh heaven. Never forgot that time nor the perfume. To this day I still love that and Cinnabar by Estée Lauder which is a spicy perfume.
My mother gifted me Royal Secret for my wedding in 1983. Loved it and used it for years. Sadly they discontinued and when another company recently produced a modern copy, it is not the same.
Omg you are the perfect person to share this with. Years ago my husband and I were visiting a small town walking around visiting the small local shops. First I bought a purse. Kind of a fun novelty purse, not high end but cute with the Boticelli Birth of Venus print on it. Next we went to an Irish themed store and that's where I found Inis. I was so intrigued it was like no other fragrance I had ever smelled. I described it to my husband as a seawater floral. Anyway, got it home, opened the box and read the little history and it was largely based on the Boticelli painting. To this day I still have mixed feelings about the fragrance but wear it sometimes and that is definitely a cherished vacation memory. Cheers from the US. P.S. We're not all trumpers. Sorry world.
Thank you so much for your input and this video. I have been having a real identity crisis of sorts, I guess. Not very happy with the life that I have been living. I forgot who I am and have allowed someone to take away my simple pleasures, like wearing a perfume that I enjoyed the sent and it made me feel good about myself. I wore it for no other reason than it pleased me. And now I am going to try some of the scents in your video and enjoy them. Thanks again. Hope I didn't overshare too much.
Patricia Darling , you didn't over share anything us ole gals haven't lived through 😉 . Your tomorrows will get easier my dear loved one . I was the same. I retired 2 years ago and money is tight. Thus when I ran out of the perfumes I loved I just stopped wearing any. I feel lost. Then just last week I’m not sure how we got into the conversation but my hubby asked me about perfume. I told him I aren’t been wearing my ok’d favorites due to cost. We smelled the empty bottles I had saved and he bought me his favorite which I had always loved. I didn’t have one favorite but a few. Dolche and Gabana Garden. It arrived last week ad I went one spray everyday. It really lifts my spirits. In my youth I wore Tresor by Lancôme.
I wore the original Lauren in the square red bottle since I was a teenager. When they discontinued it I switched to La Vie Est Belle, and yes did I get compliments! Low and behold, Lauren came back, and when I wear it, it turns heads.
@AuLily1 I didn’t know Lauren is back! Does it really smell like it did back in the 70’s and 80’s?? I wore it for years after my grandparents gave me a bottle for Christmas when I was a jr or sr in high school. I bought many bottles after that.
People on TH-cam have hated on Carolina Herrera Good Girl OG so much! My husband gave me a bottle a couple of Christmases ago and I like to wear it in cool/cold weather. It’s too heavy to wear in the Deep South any other time of the year for me. It’s a tad too masculine in my opinion-very sweet men’s fragrance to me but I wear it for my man❤😉
@@chrismahfouz7709 , it is back, but I do think the formula has changed a little. It doesn't seem to have quite the longevity it once had. I still love it though. It was my signature scent for eons.
The one smell I have ever smelled that I just love is “Pheromone” by Marilyn Miglin, it smells different on each person which I appreciate that. My second fragrant was Chanel 5, I was obsessed with that in my younger years until I found Pheromone.
I have worn Pheromone for years and years..loved it. Got from Marilyn Miglin when she was on HSN. I now wear Ysatis and Must de Cartier parfum. Really like them.
My favorite perfumes are Charles of the Ritz and Nina Ricci Le Air Du Temps..I wore Rose Water and Lilly of the Valley when I was young in the 1960's...I'm 80 and rarely wear perfume today..unfortunately
A friend of mine always wore Le Air du Temp, and smelled wonderful. I tried to wear it several times, but it smelled awful on me. My friend passed away from illness, so I tried to wear it again in her honour, and because it reminded me of her, but even though it was a few years later, it still didn't smell nice on me!
Senior here. I got several compliments when I wore Chanel Mademoiselle. One day at work, a coworker walked by and I loved her perfume which I later found out was Chanel Chance. So of course I bought it, I love the scent on me even more.
Estee was my signature scent for over 20 years, until it was retired. I then bought it on an online fragrance site, but it just wasn’t the same. I miss it so much and wish Estée Lauder would bring it back!
Coco noir is beautiful and seductive. Love your style and musings about mental health (perfume has helped me immeasurably in that department too so kudos to you for making that connection). Where I am from, I’m hoping that ,collectively, we’ll turn the corner and embrace the wearing of perfume again (it is currently frowned upon and one stirs up debate while wearing it in public). Love your channel. I’m in! 😊
I’Ve just bought La Vie Est Belle (hadn’t opened it) after watching unwrapped & sprayed a little… Yes it’s gorgeous. I also like Chanel Allure (original) not the newer blend, YSL Ysatsis, Miss Dior, V&R Flowerbomb Marc Jacob’s Daisy. I have a suite of perfumes, depending upon my mood, event, season & day/night. My perfumes are stored in the fridge as it’s dark & the weather Downunder is heading towards 37°C/98.6°F the weekend in Sth Aus. after a swim or shower a cool perfume really is refreshing. No colour or fragrance loss either is a benefit. Thank you for an interesting vlog. Have a fabulous morning, afternoon or evening 🐨🦘🇦🇺
I love Cinnabar. I had to just shelve my bottle for a year after purchase but it's now ready and glimmering to be worn! I've enjoyed it of late in the Fall Season.
1 Pleasures este lauder 2 Paradox Prada ( gets complements , but I don’t really love it ) 3 Oceans di Gioia Giorgio Armani 4 Dylan Blue Versace 5 Chance (the OG ) Chanel These are my most complimented perfumes. My two cents: With all due respect, I find most fragrances from most large perfume/cosmetic houses to be very harsh and filled with chemicals. I prefer smaller houses like Occitane or Comptoir Sud Pacifique who deal mostly in natural skin care, and small independent perfumers who use more natural ingredients and essential oils like Imaginary Authors, Rosie Jane, etc. The older perfumes are good too, but unfortunately they are not the same as they used to be. When I buy Chanel, I only buy the Extrait. It’s expensive but worth it. I never understood what the big deal was about Chanel No 5 till I bought the extrait. My fave was 22, and no longer made.
True. I look for vintage perfumes on ebay (latest acceptable early nineties). My favourite is a Guerlain dated 1967 which was unopened and exquisite. I've only had one poor experience in may years.
@@sandradavies7804 I’ve gotten so many beautiful vintage perfumes. My Sin for one. It was much easier to get them before they issued the decant ban. They allowed it to be available again, but it’s never been the same. I got an old version of L’air Du Temps bc the current one they sell smells nothing like it used to. I have a nose with perfect memory. It’s a gift and a curse.

Evening In Paris ,
Coco Chanel ,
Youth Dew ,
are among my favorites .
When I dress in my 40's vintage, I wear Evening In Paris .
I also love the fashions and hair from that era to .
But evening in Paris doesn’t smell the same anymore…
My late mother's favourite perfume was evening in Paris ❤
Oh my gosh. Evening in Paris, what an old fragrance, cheap too. I am 80! lol. Wore it as a child.
Coco Chanel and #22 smell like Heaven
@@JackieSkellington Yes, I use to love and wear Chanel 22 and one time I asked at the store if they had it and they said no. So I'm going to go somewhere else and see if I can find it. Thanks for reminding me, I feel like Coco Chanel is too strong.
My most favorite was Yves St. Laurent's Opium (the original). It lasted a long time, had a beautiful fragrance and I always received compliments on this scent. They changed the formula and I never brought it again.
Miss Dior the 2017 formulation used to get me compliments all the time. I'm so sad they keep changing it.
The most recent version of Miss Dior smells nice. But Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet smells LOVELY.
I love Dior perfumes
Dolce & Gabana Light blue got me tons of compliments also Ralph Lauren Romance.
Light Blue has been my favourite perfume since it came out.... just love it's fresheness.
Same
I love this perfume
I have enjoyed this fragrance for years.
Same
From Chanel, I love both: Coco Mademoiselle and Chance in its original formula, as well as the Eau Tendre and Eau Fréche varieties.
Yes that Rives Gauche was my stuff in the 80s! Haven't smelled it in years.
@@TheCatWitch63 if you love Rive Gauche you would love Calandre by Paco Rabanne. It smells very similar and Rabanne’s was released before YSL.
I also love Rive Gauche and recently found an unopened bottle in a vintage shop!
@@CAEO416 Thank you!! Your comment made me curious about Calandre and it led me to a site where many of my favorite old fragrances were listed and I had forgotten all about them, such as Ysatis and Samsara. Now I wish I could buy some of them again.
@@TheCatWitch63your welcome! Calandre has been reformulated but it still smells good, very similar to its original release. Ysatis unfortunately smells nothing like the original. I used to wear it all the time.
I’ve worn Lancôme’s Tresor since it came out. I get compliments almost every time I wear it.
Try la vie la belle it’s the best
Same here 🥰
Lancome's tresor midnight Rose 🌹 is my favorite of that brand...it is long lasting ❤
I have La vie Est Belle and Idole, but my favourite Lancome fragrance is Miracle.
I bought a bottle of Tresor because I smelled it on a coworker and had to have it.

Oh yes I loved that. Thank you for reminding me.
The flapper scent! I love that! It means your mom was super cool in her day!
I wore Shalimar about 40 years ago and was told I smelt like a vanilla milk shake
When you mentioned your mom, every time I smell Lancome Tresor I think of my mom❤
My mom too 🥰
I’ve tried a ton of perfumes and Chanel brands get the most compliments.

Tom Fords Lost Cherry and Tobacco Vanille. I love these so much!
I love both of these perfumes especially Tobacco Vanille.
Signature fragrance: La Vie EstBelle. It NEVER fails to elicit compliments.
@@PennyOstrander Yes. To each his own.
Something must be wrong with my bottle, it doesn't smell at all.
I find it too strong but then my mom has a strong version of it "Iris Absolu"
It’s beautiful! Sweet, rich, extravagant 💠✨
Jessica Mclintock is light and beautiful. Get lots of compliments on this.

Lilly of the valley vibes...😊
It's grapefruit based, you would probably like Calyx too, now made by Clinique 😊

I am 73 and wear McClintok when seeking a lighter, brighter ambiance than
the deep-spice-clove-incense-ish "oud" fragrances that I usually prefer!!!
Chanel No. 22 - the original from back in the 20s - was the most drop dead gorgeous scent I have ever smelled. I was given half a bottle back in the 70s, and honestly, I would pay an arm and a leg to have it again.
Thank you! It's wonderful
I like Tatiana too, it's intoxicating
I just can't do modern scents, too much amber, patchouli, and nasty vanilla - I need fresh and floral but not old lady floral
Have always been enchanted with "Chanel No.5"
No one else mentioned it here!
Good! "More for me!!"😘

1. "Decadence" by Marc Jacobs
2. "Light Blue" by Dolce and Gabanna
3. "Candy" by Prada
4. "Vanilla Musk" by Coty
5. "La Vida Bella" (por femme)
These have always had men complimenting, and everybody turning their head to ask: "What is that perfume you have on?" I'm not a fan of "LOUD" perfumes like "Red" which everybody wore back in the day.
I love “Light Blue” by Dolce & Gabanna.

I have an old original bottle from L'air never used. Beautiful bottle. I wasn't a fan of the perfume though. I'll probably sell it.

I didn’t know Lauren is back!
