I am 72. Wow! I have loved jewelry and worked in a high-end precious jewelry store. I always purchased one or two fine pieces a year rather than lots of junk. I also refrained when gold was sky high. It's a commodity that fluxes with interest rates, so when it dipped; I shopped, When it rose; I refrained. Trends are trends. Jewelry is very personal so choose and wear what you will like during your lifetime. Cherish the ones that are passed down to you.
the only jewelry I wear now is what was my moms. She left this earth in 2017 and I feel close to her with wearing her pins. Also, I put them out as decor to by my frames and on my dresser.
I wear what I want, when I want. I mix gold and silver. I have some jewelry that belonged to my mom, my aunt, my Great Grandmother. When I am going to a special event, I will say: "would you like to come to this dinner party, Auntie?" as I put on a pair of her earrings. Or when I am facing something scary, I will wear a piece from my mom to give me courage. Am I crazy? Maybe, but it works for me. Jewelry is my statement and a lucky charm. Mixed in with vintage jewelry, I have several new pieces I bought myself or my husband gave me. I hope my Granddaughters will someday invite me along to a special occasion when I can no longer wear my pretty jewels.
Wearing items that belonged to loved ones as a way of keeping them close or to bolster our confidence or courage is by no means crazy. Do you know that the energy of the person is carried through the item they wear? As science has told us that energy never dies, the energy of your grandmother and your aunt are still present in those pieces of jewellery you treasure. You can feel them, and I can tell you that those women are happy that you honour them in this small way. Similarly, items can also carry a negative energy if the person they belonged to was in that negative state when they possessed it. I love antiques and things with stories, but I have become wary after understanding how our energy still clings to our items. If I love an antique find, I can usually feel if the energy it holds is good for me, and if I'm not sure, then I either leave it or put it out in to bathe in a full moon light, so as to cleanse away any negativity. Now you must think I'm crazy too. 😇
Love your idea of channeling the person who is associated with a particular piece! I actually do that when I pick out my coffee mug each day! It never ceases to amaze me when a particular person will just randomly give me a call on the day I chose the mug that reminds me of them! ❤️☺️

Lab diamonds are not ethically sourced. Nowadays they’re coming in bulk from India and China and who knows if there’s children cutting and polishing them and they are terrible for the environment by the way they are made. There’s actually diamonds from Botswana Africa that is actually helping their economy you just have to know exactly where your diamond is from. Also there’s diamonds from Canada that are good. So many jewelers bought tons of lab diamonds and they want to get rid of them so that’s why they’re being so hyped up now but I can see lab diamonds going the same way as cubic zirconia and will be sold at Kohls and such. The one trend that I will not give up is my 3 carat IF, D color classic solitary diamond ring that is a family heirloom. Honestly, most people can’t even tell a real diamond from a cubic zicornia one when it’s that size, which is why I always feel safe wearing it. If I were in the market to purchase a new diamond, that’s a different story, but the one I have will always be a classic, in trend with special sentimental meaning for me personally.
LOL -- I have a diamond cocktail ring with stones from the late 1800's. Passed down from my grandmother's aunt, to my grandmother, to my aunt, to me. I can just imagine thinking, "Oh, no, I have real diamonds. I can't wear them. I'll just have to go out and buy some lab-grown diamonds."

This is fascinating. That being said, I never follow the trends in terms of jewelry - I’m a sterling silver girl and with the price I pay for my baubles… things gon get enjoyed even if the whole town thinks I’m not “in” 😅
Pearls are classic that never go out of style so I had to chuckle when you said they were 'back in' with a red check mark. There was that trend in the '80s and '90s with Madonna and with a revival of Chanel aesthetics that had pearls and coins everywhere, even as belts, so I suppose this is another rendition of pearls being highlighted again. But honestly, just like those dainty pearl drop earrings you wore, pearls are never passé or dated.
Do you understand the difference between timeless and current trends? She's talking about current trends. Do you understand the word trends? I think maybe you're too uppity to understand current trends.
@@mindyparker4128 MY goodness, such an unnecessary condescending tone to take with someone...........I do hope that no one treats you in such a rude manner. One thing I do know is good manners NEVER goes out of style, they are timeless and always a current trend..............you should consider investing in some.
@@mindyparker4128 Oh my dear, you should really not make assumptions about people or things unless you have knowledge about them yourself. (If only you knew to whom you were addressing this comment, but I digress ...) Of course there is a difference between current trends or fads and timelessness in the fashion world, and I understand the difference very well. If you were to read my comment again without your judgemental glasses on, you may see that the statement she made was that "pearls are b a c k I n". My comment reflected my amusement that I had never known that pearls were an item that was on the out or passé list. I was simply making an observation on the transient and cyclical nature of trends. There was no put-down or judgement in my comment, much unlike yours.
I'm a traditionalist. My jewelry has always been gold (both white and gold) and silver. I prefer gemstones-diamonds, pearls, and sapphires. I'm not trendy. My personal style is timeless. I have natural diamonds, so I would look at lab-created ones going forward.
You can have a lot of fun with accessories like jewellery, and they can really update an elevate an outfit, but in my opinion. the colour of gold, whether white, yellow or rose is usually chosen on what is most flattering on your skin, not on what a supposed current trend is, which is what will make a piece enduring and always, always look good on you. There can be trends for finer jewellery pieces or more chunky ones, for chokers or longer necklaces, for stacked bracelets or cuffs for example, and even a momentary leaning towards one metal colour over another, but to say something like rose gold is passé or dated is quite short sighted. There is a big difference between having style and being in style, and the key to knowing how to master both is to recognise objectively what works or doesn't work on oneself.
I spent 3 nights trying to untangle my necklace. Gave up and wanted to cut the chain to save the pendant but the guy who sold me the necklace helped me untangle it in 15 minutes. I won’t want my necklace to be tangled up again.
I don’t trust those Amazon clasps for some reason 🤷🏻♀️ I haven’t try them I just don’t know. I feel like the layering trend is just maybe for a picture and that’s it, it’s just not funtional.
I absolutely love jewelry, I have a huge collection of vintage jewelry, many of which I've had since I was a kid. The jewelry I choose to wear usually depends on my mood, the weather, and the vibe I want with my outfit ,I don't really follow the trends, one day I can wear something bold and outlandish and the next day I can opt for some dainty fine jewelry 😁
-Quiet luxury, a.k.a., it’s not safe to be showy these days. -The new layered necklaces trend looks tacky to me. -Love the pearls! Love the charms! -Have never liked nor worn matchey matchey. Just subscribed! 😊
Definitely seeing the long necklaces ALREADY. They are easy to find listed as sweater necklaces and we are definitely into the sweater season! Literally yesterday just purchased two to see which i like better.
I loved this video! Thank you Anna! So many of these trends make me happy. I have always loved layering necklaces, bracelets, and long pendant necklaces. I toned it down but never gave those styles up entirely. I am ready to bring them back with a vengeance! A few years ago I started keeping a box of "set aside for now" jewelery. It is fun to dig through it occasionally and feel that "oh! Thank goodness I didn't declutter this!" feeling. Doesn't take up much space and is very rewarding.
Really enjoyed this video, Anna, thanks! I like it all (jewelry designs and colors) and mix it all! I'm a jewelry lover, especially necklaces. I love mixing a bunch of unrelated necklaces that have meaning. Jewelry is like the icing on the cupcake!
It feels so liberating to be 83 and past the time spent choosing attention getting jewelry to enhance my outfit. I never, ever wear costume jewelry or silver. I would rather have a couple of fine jewelry pieces on than to be encased in twists of base metal and glass. White gold, yellow gold, rose gold and platinum, diamonds and natural gemstones. If a woman wears any one or a combination of them they can’t go wrong.
I am very happy about pendant necklaces coming back in. I always liked wearing them with sweaters as they were heavier and stayed in place on a sweater.
I keep all my jewelry, 50+ years worth. Pieces always come back in style. I bought real gold pieces 30 years ago when they were affordable. My $300 bracelet now sells for $1200+. Crazy.
I’ve always loved, shopped for and worn vintage jewelry. So many pieces are one of a kind and unique. Nothing cookie cutter. I actually have many of my mother’s pieces from the 40’s. But honestly, it sometimes takes me more time to put on my jewelry than either my hair or makeup! 🤦♀️
My *amzrepe* tote has been in use for years and it still looks as good as when I first bought it. The quality is simply unmatched. In the near future, I plan to buy another color and style to match my clothes and shoes
Wear what looks good on your skin tone &/or what you love. Trends come and go so quickly just to line someone's pocket with our hard earned income. I love both rose and yellow gold. Sometimes the trends feel shaming when something is momentarily deemed "out." Let's not shame each other for wearing what we love. I do appreciate how this video is careful to try not to shame people about trends and reminds us to wear what we love.
I’ve always wore exactly what I liked and so far other than the rose gold….which I didn’t like….its always worked……so I usually am about 6 months before the trend . Love wearing my jewelry.
My wedding is next June and I have my jewelry picked out already 😂. Im wearing the Swarovski Imber Tennis necklace that my mom gifted me. Pairing them with some Gold Pearl drop earrings that my Fiance gifted me. Both in yellow gold. Im so excited. My mom was asking me if I was sure the necklace wasnt too chunky and I said no way lol.
Love the jewelry update videos. I have noticed some of the vintage lines like Sarah Coventry and Avon actually hold up better than the new. I have jewelry from them that still look brand new, not tarnished while some I have bought the past 3 years have already discolored. Watched a documentary from a few years ago on diamonds - they believe that the real diamond market has been infiltrated with lab grown by up to 30%. Most diamonds are cut in India and some cutters take bribes to cut the lab grown- once cut they are very hard to tell the difference.
My mother loved jewellery and used to mix really good pieces with costume jewellery and got away with it. She used to put it all on and then it take off until she got it right! Wish I had the patience.
Gosh, your videos are so wonderful, precise, gives a clear guideline, please keep making them to help out us trendy girls. You look beautiful, more so than usual.
For years, I've worn what I want in jewelry. I think jewelry is personal. It’s a piece you bought when you were young or a family heirloom. I've bought trendy too. But the pieces I keep coming back to are the ones with special meanings to me. One of my favorites is a small wind-up pocket watch. I bought the watch in Germany as an exchange student. It has a porcelain disc with handpainted pink rose on the oneside. The chain is long and detailed. I still wear it today. The chain broke several years ago, but I was able to repair it with antique links. When I did that, I added several small charms. One represented my older sister, whom I lost when we were children, and also added a small clear charm locket with gold I had panned on a camping trip. The culmination may look dated or out of place, but they have become conversation starters whenever I wear them.
You just made me very happy. I am becoming very sentimental in my senior years. I just bought a second gold chain to add to a heavy gold necklace that my mother gave me so I can just flip it over my head without struggling with the clasp. Both chains are about the same width but they don't match. I want to wear it with another necklace from her where the three charms rest in my cleavage (they don't show) and the long chain is so fine you can barely see it. I will check my stash for another "wrong necklace" to make an intentional looking group. I have a gold tone lariette necklace that I will try. I do like a long sculptural-pendant necklace on a cord. A carved soapstone or ceramic piece that is unique, maybe from a summer art fair. They are useful against column dressing over a solid dress or matching top and bottom under an open blazer, vest or cardi. It just looks so nice when all the vertical lines complement each other. I had pierced ears, but one ripped and it's never been a priority to get it fixed. My earring box is frozen in time and I have given away some of the better pieces. There is one small pair of posts that I have my mother and then kept when she passed. I no longer have the dexterity to put earrings on myself, but if I just left that one pair on it might work. Either way, I should be able to let go of all my other earrings. I am just too nostalgic. Oj! The burden of storing such tiny things is not so great. I am keeping my collection of long beaded necklaces for future trends and I might venture out and tie one to a purse for a holiday embellishment. If non-matching necklaces are a thing, maybe I'll try a cluster of non-matching rhinestone brooches for New Year's Eve. Back in the 60s, my mother used to pin brooches to those fabric clutches that she would have dyed to match her shoes, gloves and outfit. I sure am glad we don't do that any more. That being said, I still have her dyed cloth clutches in brown, turquoise and pink. The pink matched her second-wedding dress. The matching outfits are all gone, but those clutches have complemented the occasional cocktail dress. I hate spending money on outfits I only wear once a year. 😵💫🥂🍾
I love the idea of using a beaded necklace as a bag charm! I do like the way bag charms look but I don’t want ones that everyone else has. I’ve made all my beaded necklaces with pearls (yes they are in again!), Swarovski style beads, raw semiprecious stones, and Murano glass beads to suit my wardrobe colors so this is just perfect. Thank you for this!
I’m happy to see this video. I have a lot of jewelry and I’m never sure what to wear. I got diamond studs for Christmas last year from my husband. And I try to wear them if I go anywhere. I’m sure they cost a lot so I’m getting my money’s worth out of them. But I don’t usually wear anything else but them and my wedding ring. Which I just had to replace that diamond when I lost it for the third time. This one is pretty. I have no idea if it’s lab grown or mined. I didn’t ask. I love gold jewelry, I do have a few mixed pieces I wear. I just got out of the practice of wearing necklaces and bracelets every time I go out of the house. But I may have to start again. I just saw on a video the other day. If you’re older and wear turtlenecks or mock necks use should wear longer necklaces to draw attention away from your neck. And I definitely need to do that.
Great video! I’m a confessed jewelry ADDICT. I love the stuff. I have some really cool long pendants that I have worn over the years, and I never really stopped wearing them. The other thing is I love Baroque pearls. I have some really interesting ones that I love to wear. Your hair is to die for-looks great! ALWAYS look forward to your videos!
I have a wide gold Bujukan wedding band and two pairs of fairly delicate gold hoops (small and medium) and that is literally all I have anymore - I'm home most days and just don't care to mess with it but I love to see what the trends are
I haven't been wearing my long necklaces, although I wasn't aware that they were considered "out" -- but just tonight I took out one of my favorite pieces and set it out to wear to dinner tomorrow......! Happy to hear that I am right on the beginning of this now new trend lol

She gave me a huge bag of vintage jewelry etc. I kept them knowing one day these are gong to sought after. Yay. I’ve always loved layering my jewelry. Before it was cool. lol. I don’t know , red is my fav ! Also learned in university mixing metals is always good!! Thank you for sharing. My first time. Lol
So overall I was really excited about what you had to say. I don't like matchy-matchy, I love mixing gold and silver and especially vintage pieces. Have always loved pearls and I liked that you can add them in with less expensive pieces. I just found my mother's charm bracelet that my father bought her and there is some very sentimental engraved pieces on there so I'm totally psyched to wear it. I also love my long necklaces with my chunky pendants. The only time that I was hoping would come back was the leather bracelets and necklace pieces. Love burgundy even though I don't own any burgundy jewelry. I finally gave in and bought hoop earrings so I may need to update my earrings.
I started giving my daughter the old school charm bracelet and charms and even turned some into old school style on her 22nd birthday on April. I'm such a hip mom 😂❤❤❤

Love love love long necklaces! I am so glad we are going a little more chunky and layering.
I agree with you about pearls, I purchased my first pearls when I was 23 and I inherited my grandmothers pearls, they are timeless.
They are like the little black dress; always in style.
(If only you knew to whom you were addressing this comment, but I digress ...)
Of course there is a difference between current trends or fads and timelessness in the fashion world, and I understand the difference very well.
Rose gold suits me, gold makes me look like grandma, so don’t care about in or out😅
Rose gold will always look stunning ❤
⚡️I’ve always loved jewelry with gold and silver mixed! Nice to know that I’ll be current when I wear mine😇
Thank goodness! I’ve always hated writing on clothing, Jewelry and accessories.
I'm a traditionalist. My jewelry has always been gold (both white and gold) and silver. I prefer gemstones-diamonds, pearls, and sapphires. I'm not trendy. My personal style is timeless. I have natural diamonds, so I would look at lab-created ones going forward.
You are absolutely right. I'm same like you.
Jewelry is your personality❤! You have to use the jewelry that makes you happy that makes you special, jewelry it’s not fashion !
Unfortunately if you just wear a bunch of necklaces they get tangled up to the point of knotting where you can’t untangle them! ⚠️
Amazon has layering clasps so they dont get tangled
I spent 3 nights trying to untangle my necklace. Gave up and wanted to cut the chain to save the pendant but the guy who sold me the necklace helped me untangle it in 15 minutes. I won’t want my necklace to be tangled up again.
I don’t trust those Amazon clasps for some reason 🤷🏻♀️ I haven’t try them I just don’t know. I feel like the layering trend is just maybe for a picture and that’s it, it’s just not funtional.
@@karinalemus2305I bought the multi necklace clasp & they still tangled.
lol exactly
Thank you ... we need a video like this every season...
I think long necklaces are generally more flattering.
I inherited my grandmothers pearl necklace. I have always loved pearls
You sound like my spirit animal!
@TheNicoliyah 😂thank you ☺️

-Quiet luxury, a.k.a., it’s not safe to be showy these days. -The new layered necklaces trend looks tacky to me. -Love the pearls! Love the charms! -Have never liked nor worn matchey matchey. Just subscribed! 😊
I’ve never stopped wearing long necklaces lol hopefully I’ll come back in style 🤞
One trend I do miss is the long layered necklaces!
I’ll be happy to help bring back the long necklaces! Love the way the right one can lengthen the torso, and give balance to an outfit.
I like the long necklace trend! 10ish years ago I had a long gold dream catcher necklace i wore allllll the time!!
I ❤ the necklace stacks! Pulling out my vintage stuff (from Grandma) now!
Definitely seeing the long necklaces ALREADY. They are easy to find listed as sweater necklaces and we are definitely into the sweater season! Literally yesterday just purchased two to see which i like better.
I like long necklaces with plain tops with either crew or high neck. It’s elongating and I never gave them up.
I always wear long necklaces due to my large bust and short torso.
Thank you for the informative video.
I really like your taste and style, always so chic. My favorite is the *amzrepe* leather backpack, so beautiful. Thanks for the recommendation.
ADORE that log ecklaces are coming back!!
Crazy.
When I have multiple necklaces layered and they start winding around each other, I get claustrophobia 😂
Exactly ! You’re not alone
*suluxy* Literally the happiest place we girls are
Good review of jewelry trends...and I also really like your V-neck sweaters with the large buttons.
Ha I love this!! I think those unique pieces are really what can make an outfit sometimes!
*xbagy* I love you so much and watching your videos makes my day brighter
I love my long necklaces! You can also pair it with a short one, of course
Definitely! ❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 I worked at LOFT for a few years. You can only imagine how much I bought with my employee discount ha ha
I like the long jewelry look- maybe paired with some short layered pieces to update the older trend
I'm so happy that charms are back! I just got my first Pandora bracelet. Can't wait to play around with different charms!
Yes please with long necklaces! Look great as far as elongating the neck.
I hope the long necklaces come back. I kept all mine😊
I don’t think rosé gold is out of style.
@ramonaa8962 Not my idea; I saw it on a TH-cam channel, maybe this one. 😀
Accurate, helpful, practical. Best jewelry trend video I've seen. Thank you!
I'm glad you mentioned *amzrepe* , no one noticed these were fake designer brands because they were of good quality.
Cool! I've got all this stuff already; I will simply wear it differently. Time to root around in my jewelry box for 80s earrings.
Long necklaces with big stones..... love them never stopped wearing them (if I'm not having to bend over alot lol) so glad they are making a comeback
I really like your taste and style, always so chic. My favorite is the *amzrepe* leather backpack, so beautiful. Thanks for the recommendation.
I have been waiting for this *yutulu* forever.thank you!!!!
The long necklaces with a pendant on the bottom are called sautoirs. That style was popular in the 1920’s.
I love the way the are layering the necklaces!
I never stopped wearing long pendant necklaces 😂.
I have to wear a lanyard with my ID for work. Doesn’t play well with a pendant necklace. I’ll have to save them for going out.
*amzrepe* will always be my favorite! ❤❤❤
You have a *yutulu* stunning collection!! Truly inspirational-found your channel recently, lots of love
Pearls, pearls I love in different colors! You can always add a pearl enhancer to change the look (shop pawn shops for options)!
I have a wide gold Bujukan wedding band and two pairs of fairly delicate gold hoops (small and medium) and that is literally all I have anymore - I'm home most days and just don't care to mess with it but I love to see what the trends are
Love all the length necklaces..! Thank you, great video. 🥰👍🏼💚
I haven't been wearing my long necklaces, although I wasn't aware that they were considered "out" -- but just tonight I took out one of my favorite pieces and set it out to wear to dinner tomorrow......! Happy to hear that I am right on the beginning of this now new trend lol
Love the chunky layered look. I have a lot of Vintage jewelry a sweet lady found out I make jewelry.
Lol
LOVE you're work on this styling platform ❤❤❤
the 3 together looks fab, better than just two, on you today !🙂
*amzrepe* looks very pretty and elegant. Enjoy 😍
