I think the hallucinations are referring to actual Springtrap hallucinations more than the Phantoms. If a ventilation error happens, you can see multiple Springtraps on the cams and in the vents It's a game mechanic that isn't as well-known as it should be
I didn't even know multiple Springtrap's showed up on the cams during ventilation errors. Maybe it's because you don't really check the cams during system errors. You just immediately go to the maintenance panel to fix it.
it's interesting to note that the puppet mask in cam 8 is likely not THE puppet mask, because well, puppet is fully intact in lefty in pizza sim, so unless pizza sim happens before fnaf 3 (extremely unlikely), or the puppet somehow reassembled itself after the building burnt down, it has to be a different mask
The Puppet could have easily left right before the fire then eventually found its way to Lefty, or it could have been slightly burnt but not enough for severe damage considering that no render of Lefty shows the puppet mask under it, just the one screen from Pizza Sim that shows the arms.
I know this is a year old comment but one of the lines by Phone Dude goes something like "we found a foxy head! though it might be another crappy cosplay". Meaning most of the props they have could just be recreations by Fazbear fans.
I always assumed they were manifestations of whatever remained of the missing children’s souls after their bodies were mostly destroyed, considering how much emphasis this game places on freeing them. However, I also really like your idea of Springtrap using them as tools to whittle down the minds of his victims. Honestly, I think both options work together because Springtrap, despite being a physical being, is also haunted. William Afton is a spirit now, technically a poltergeist, and I imagine at this point his spirit was probably stronger than the children’s considering that his “body” was still mostly intact. With the movie’s emphasis on William “controlling” the children’s spirits somehow, I can imagine him basically using his stronger will to direct their anger at whoever he wanted, until of course they were (mostly) freed at the end of this game, which would explain why he can’t do that in FFPS.
Great theory, small problem. BB's spirit, or lack thereof. I doubt that he ever had a spirit, but at the same time why would he leave his place? Unless Bonnie's spirit decided BB was his favorite now or smt. Again great theory otherwise, just had to point that out.

My only guess is that a spirit might’ve decided to appear as BB instead, maybe Bonnie like you said since Bonnie is kinda taken by Springtrap. This is one of the reasons why I don't think the 'crazy stuff' that Phone Dude refers to is necessarily the Phantoms, as it would have to be attributed to the ventilation going offline in the building. The only thing we see, as the player, is the alarms going off in the office as we slowly lose consciousness. It's strange that something like this is left ambiguous by Phone Dude when we know that the Phantoms are directly linked to both the audio and ventilation issues around the attraction. It's one of the biggest details to why I believe that Springtrap (and the props) is the main producer of the Phantoms.
You just made me have a revelation! The Phantoms have the same eye texture as Springtrap... Even Scott puts emphasis on this in the FNaF 3 trailer as it zooms into his eye. It seems he created these illusions. I think Scott intentionally tied them together this way.
I always see people overlook the phantoms in lore videos or about something else such as merch. Really don’t see people like them just cause they are reskins off of their Fnaf 2 forms (except chica) but I really love them, even if they have burnt marks all over them with cloudy pupils I still like them. Hope they use them in more games but it looks like it’s not happening anytime soon

His respiratory system has long since decayed, and he’d been trapped in a musty room and an equally musty rabbit suit for years. So what would some bad air do to him? (Or Mike for that matter?) And what are the chances of him and Mike seeing the exact same hallucinations? Doing the exact same things? At the exact same time?

I feel "they" is the best way to refer to Mangle. Since the reason why Mangle is called "he" and "her" is because they are 2 endos on 1 body. 1 male and 1 female. If you ever played FNaF AR, it's clear this duplicity is because their voice is two entities in 1 body.
I think you're explanation is definitive, nice job. I assumed that the phantoms are just remnants from Scott's old lore before he shifted the entire story for the Aftons. The phantoms being horribly burned is a nod to me that the guy you play as barely knows who these animatronics are, hence he doesn't exactly know what they look like, hence why their designs are so dark and obscured by fire markings. This is why to me that Phantom foxy doesn't have his hook, the player character knows what that part of foxy's arm looks like as it's on the box in the office, and why there's no phantom bonnie and phantom fazbear, the protagonist knows what they look like enough based on the suit mannequins being outside his office and in one of the cams
Had always saw them as the missing kids trying to scare you away to burn the place down and kill springtrap. At least this seemed to have been the original intention when fnaf 3 came out. Afterall, "Phantom" is a French term for "something that came back from the dead"

To add on to your ending statements, there is the existence of Agony (or Dark Remnant as it is called in Fnaf AR). First talked abour in the books (#3 of FF if I recall), it is the emotions of human suffering having an effect on its surroundings. The Phantom animitronics could very well be beings created from the Agony of the props

I wouldn't see why Withered Chica couldn't fit-the-bill as a phantom design, because Phantom Chica (in her FNAF 1 design) doesn't hold any items (like the cupcake) in either of her hands. It could certainly be that Scott simply preferred the look of Chica from FNAF 1, instead of her Withered design; but I think it rather fits perfectly with the narrative of Michael Afton being the security guard.

I’m glad you brought up what we found as that story literally explains how fnaf 3 works yet it’s overlooked by most of the fanbase. Also phantom freddy is one of my favorite characters in the series (maybe not top 10 but top 20 for sure, I love his design!)
One time I was making the Thank You Poster in Minecraft using the FNaF Statues made by RedXDoesMinecraft. At the far right, I decided to add Phantom Foxy and the Crying Child, because like what you said, they weren't in the original thank you poster.
A small theory (or headcanon) about the Phantoms I've had is that they're some sort of agony connected to the spirits or the props in the location. All the props are pretty broken up, with a functional puppet in the location. And assuming that box is full of the of toy's dismantled parts, then that explains BB and Mango.
I heard somewhere that because Michael is kept alive by Remnant and Remnant is sensitive at high temperatures, the hallucinations may have something to do with the ventilation in the building just being awful in general.

I assume it's Springtrap using the Agony/Leftover Remnant of the props to whittle Mike down so he can kill him. In Pizza Sim he can't do that anymore obviously because all the props were destroyed in a fire, which is revealed in Pizza Sim as a way to free Souls/Remnant from objects.
I'd say Phantom Puppet is actually the biggest clue here, at least for when it comes to what the Phantoms are. Every other phantom we encounter on the cameras is in their proper phantom form. The Puppet the is sole exception. If the Puppet on the camera WAS a hallucination, it would not make sense for the one to appear before the nightgaurd to be burnt. This actually connects to the theory that objects relating to the Souls/Animatronics of the past trigger the Phantoms themselves, since not simply seeing the Mask is enough to cause the Phantom Puppet to appear, rather only the Puppet itself.
Looking back, phantom foxy missing one forearm pretty much predicted one of Foxy's arms catching fire during the production of the 2023 movie, lol. At least they were able to get it under control quickly and replace the damaged arm
I always thought the phantoms were not actually created by Springtrap or Michael, but were instead the original souls of the dead children, roaming around the attraction as these phantom animatronics. You said it yourself that Fazbear's Fright is full of bits and pieces from the old Freddy's locations, including a bunch of old animatronic parts. It's not a stretch to say that the souls could have stayed attached to the robots, even after they were burned, torn apart, and placed inside of the horror attraction. It also makes sense if you think about when the Happiest Day minigame occurs. It happens right before the place is burned to the ground, which undoubtable destroyed all that was left of the original animatronics. My theory is that this is what allowed the souls of the children to finally find peace. Now that every last bit of the robots have been destroyed, the kids' souls are no longer attached to them, and they can finally move on into the afterlife. That is... if they decide too.
Phantoms are both hallucinations caused by agony and trauma as well as sparks of the spirits present in the area - since their bodies are all broken apart
I always theorised that the phantoms are the souls of the children without working suits, bound to the location until the fire which sets them free. The last time we see the phantoms in the whole series (aside from UCN, FNaF World and HW1) is in Night 6 of FNaF 3, the same night the attraction burns down. Perhaps the reason they are somehow attached to Springtrap is just because they've always been near the Spring Bonnie suit. They died near it, it's theorised it was there during FNaF 1, we know it was there in FNaF 2 with the "Someone used one of the suits, a yellow one..", so maybe they literally just stick around it, but are able to manifest because of all the parts from their old suits being so close. It could even explain why Phantom Chica is the classic model, not the withered. For every other spirit, they have parts of their original design. Foxy has the hook. Mangle has the head. The Puppet has the mask. But we see no hint of Withered Chica anywhere. But what *do* we see? A classic Chica head on the floor in Cam 8. You *could* point out Phantom Freddy being a withered yet there being no Withered Freddy parts around, but I do believe that's Golden Freddy, who already doesn't really obey the rules of the other animatronics. It would explain why they don't show up in FNaF 6. They're already gone. It *would* throw a spanner in the works for Henry's line, "Small souls trapped in prisons of my making" as the ones in his animatronics are already gone, but who knows, maybe he might literally just doesn't know that they're free.
As someone who works at a haunted house, being alone in a part of the house even when the lights are on, you’ll start seeing shit, or at least thinking you do, even if you are a skeptic like me. I don’t go into parts of the house without someone else and I can literally see the strings holding shit up
I kinda feel like the phantom animatronics aren’t just hallucinations, but the angry energy of the dead children. They don’t want to help Springtrap, they just want you to leave them alone. And I think maybe the reason why there’s no “Phantom Bonnie” trying to attack Michael is because maybe Bonnie’s spirit (Jeremy) believes in Michael, and believes he can save everyone.
i always thought it was the mci attaching themselves to springtrap and in fnaf 6 they attach to molten freddy. another idea is that springtrap stopped using the halucinations in fnaf 6 because they failed to work on mike in fnaf 3. why waste your supernatural power on something that wont work especially when there are other animatronics to provide as distractions for you.
The Reason why Scraptrap can’t Summon the Phantoms is Because by The time Fnaf 6 Happens, Afton is already gone and Missing from Fnaf 3, It’s Unclear where he went, But there is a Pretty Good Hint in Fnaf 6 that Scraptrap who Ends Up Having his Charred Remains Resurrected to Become Burntrap, Means that Scraptrap is The Mimic (and Technically so is Springtrap, But that Part of Lore is for Another Day)

One of the possibilities is that the Phantoms are caused by Shadow Freddy. Dark, shadowed yet three-dimensinonal body, noticeable teeth abd glowing eyes. Shadow Freddy is afgiliated with Afton, so the Phantoms atrack you. Hell, you know how in ONAF 3 Flumpty makes clones of himself that fulfill different roles? Maybe the Phantoms are like this, but with Shadow Freddy. After all, 3 was meant to be the final game, and what better way to end everything off than by facing the main antagonist and their greatest ally?
As a phantom fan I believe that the Phantoms have an importance I believe that the phantoms represent the childrens souls that are haunting William since he killed a second group of children in FNAF 2 maybe those children ARE the Phantoms and instead of being given life by the puppet they instead choose to haunt william
For the question at 14:00, Keep in mind that we see Dark Springtrap after the Fazbear Fright's fire, and it's clear that he was damaged because of the fire. I think the reason why Scraptrap can't create Phantoms is because he was weakened from the Fazbear's Fright which probably burned away some of his remnant that probably took some of Springtrap's Supernatural powers with it.
One of the few times I'll say that the misdirection was executed pretty decent. Are they real or are they not real? Is michael just haunted by his past? Maybe its just a lack of oxygen induced hallucinations, Could even be ptsd induced hallucinations. What about springtrap manifesting apparitions as extensions of himself, or they are literal phantom apparitions of the spirit bound animatronics haunting parts of things related to them. All could be possibilities but have subtle things letting you know what can be discounted.
The most likely explanation is that the ventilation system is trash, so the phantoms appear as a result of the ventilation system failing. They dont cause it to fail themselves. Apparently "Remnant" is highlg sensitive to ventilation and oxygen intake.

It is possible Springtrap is inducing these halucinations via one of those weird mental perception discs the Funtimes have in them. That would also explain why no one noticed the obvious human corpse inside Springtrap. And he cant do it in Pizza Simulator cause the disk broke in the fire.
My personal head cannon is that Mike saw Withered Freddy and Withered Foxy in a greater state of disrepair than what we saw in FNaF 2... My only theory for this is that he showed up to the place the last day it was open _(just undocumented),_ and he saw Foxy and Freddy in a more decrepit state, Foxy's jaw hanging open, as he stands there missing an arm hunched over _(his eye backlights already turned off, despite the shine on his eye casing almost looking like a single white pupil, following Mike),_ Freddy laying on the floor missing a leg, his ear hanging off the side of his head from a few wires _(his eye backlights also turned off, with the same eerie shine). As for Withered Bonnie and Withered Chica, they were already fully decommissioned (gone), last Mike saw them, hence why Bonnie doesn't have a phantom and Chica's phantom is FNaF 1 Chica instead. And the trauma _(mixed with ventilation)_ caused hallucinations of this decrepit state they were in. Hence, the Phantom Animatronics. This is just my head canon for why the Phantom Animatronics exist, and why they look the way they do. If it doesn't make sense, that's fine, I just wanted to get this out there, for people to judge accordingly.🤷♂
My theory: did you noticed that for some reason, Ph. Puppet shown on cameras as.....normal FNaF 2 Puppet? So, what if Marionette on the camera is actually real(+it have shades and reflection on the floor, which he couldn't had if he was a hallucination. Yeah, we have Golden Freddy, who is a ghost, but for some reason his head also have a reflection on the floor in the office hallway....but i think it's just render glitch, cuz no matter how strong Cassidy is, she can't just break base logic just cuz "she is very evil and mad at Willy", and make her ghostly head form being physical), and his Phantom version is actually Charlie's soul releasing from her own body and taking ghost form. Also how we can assume, Marionette/Charlie can creating hallucinations, like these flickering images of Puppet after he leaved music box, so....what if all Phantoms we see in FNaF 3 can be created by Charlie, who now messing with Michael mind, and maybe it's she responsible for system errors.

Ok so heres what I always thought this game was: FNAF 3 takes place somewhere after FNAF 1 & before Security Breach.. meaning all of Afton’s work has already been done. It is revealed to us that Afton was killed in the spring lock suit after trying to escape the ghosts of the kids.. the reason they were in spirit form is because William broke down the animatronics which in turn, freed the kids souls. Once William “died” in the suit in the safe room, he was sealed away For years. When the phone dude found the room, they uncover/free who we now know as SpringTrap… and he is roaming the halls looking for us, however I think the “hallucinations” are the kids showing us that they are still here as well.. appearing to us the same way they appeared to William before his death. P.s the scene in the trailer for FNAF 3 with spring trap twitching, I believe was moments after the minigame when he died
Well if we’re playing as Michael in all the games then he’s seen all of the animatronics and could be hallucinating. Also remnant is destroyed by burning it so Michael could have burned down the previous places and undone his fathers work. Also it would explain the burnt appearance of the phantoms.
Theory: the phantoms are the children’s ghosts (hence the “phantom” name) and they follow springtrap for (eventual) vengeance This makes sense because they appear in UCN Puppet is the only hallucination (well the one that appears in the office is) due to its ghostly behavior-the audio being secretly caused by mangle hiding behind the player/Michael afton Puppet and springtrap managed to escape meanwhile the rest died (fire is the only thing that can kill off remnant) As for why chica, foxy and mangle don’t appear in UCN… idk maybe golden Freddy left them out due to forgetting them 🙃

I always see people overlook the phantoms in lore videos or about something else such as merch. Really don’t see people like them just cause they are reskins off of their Fnaf 2 forms (except chica) but I really love them, even if they have burnt marks all over them with cloudy pupils I still like them. Hope they use them in more games but it looks like it’s not happening anytime soon

Another thing worth noting is that the Phantoms are present in UCN, which would be weird if they’re just hallucinations.
Not really as Michael only saw them due to him hallucinating the past animatronics he faced tho William also has seen them and they appear due to ventilation issues so by that its not worth noting as they don't kill u either

And besides, I highly doubt bad ventilation would effect William, because, well, he’s been dead for 30 years. His respiratory system has long since decayed, and he’d been trapped in a musty room and an equally musty rabbit suit for years. So what would some bad air do to him? (Or Mike for that matter?)
And what are the chances of him and Mike seeing the exact same hallucinations? Doing the exact same things? At the exact same time?

I think you're explanation is definitive, nice job. I assumed that the phantoms are just remnants from Scott's old lore before he shifted the entire story for the Aftons.
The phantoms being horribly burned is a nod to me that the guy you play as barely knows who these animatronics are, hence he doesn't exactly know what they look like, hence why their designs are so dark and obscured by fire markings. This is why to me that Phantom foxy doesn't have his hook, the player character knows what that part of foxy's arm looks like as it's on the box in the office, and why there's no phantom bonnie and phantom fazbear, the protagonist knows what they look like enough based on the suit mannequins being outside his office and in one of the cams
Had always saw them as the missing kids trying to scare you away to burn the place down and kill springtrap. At least this seemed to have been the original intention when fnaf 3 came out. Afterall, "Phantom" is a French term for "something that came back from the dead"

To add on to your ending statements, there is the existence of Agony (or Dark Remnant as it is called in Fnaf AR). First talked abour in the books (#3 of FF if I recall), it is the emotions of human suffering having an effect on its surroundings. The Phantom animitronics could very well be beings created from the Agony of the props

I wouldn't see why Withered Chica couldn't fit-the-bill as a phantom design, because Phantom Chica (in her FNAF 1 design) doesn't hold any items (like the cupcake) in either of her hands. It could certainly be that Scott simply preferred the look of Chica from FNAF 1, instead of her Withered design; but I think it rather fits perfectly with the narrative of Michael Afton being the security guard.

That would answer the question as to why they don't appear in Pizza Sim as well. Assuming the happiest day ending is canon (which is the most likely), then the spirits would have already been freed by the time Scraptrap shows up in Pizza Sim.

I’m glad you brought up what we found as that story literally explains how fnaf 3 works yet it’s overlooked by most of the fanbase. Also phantom freddy is one of my favorite characters in the series (maybe not top 10 but top 20 for sure, I love his design!)
One time I was making the Thank You Poster in Minecraft using the FNaF Statues made by RedXDoesMinecraft. At the far right, I decided to add Phantom Foxy and the Crying Child, because like what you said, they weren't in the original thank you poster.
A small theory (or headcanon) about the Phantoms I've had is that they're some sort of agony connected to the spirits or the props in the location. All the props are pretty broken up, with a functional puppet in the location. And assuming that box is full of the of toy's dismantled parts, then that explains BB and Mango.
Also, William being there may be the activator for this agony to take form, as it could be partly tied to the pain of his actions.

I heard somewhere that because Michael is kept alive by Remnant and Remnant is sensitive at high temperatures, the hallucinations may have something to do with the ventilation in the building just being awful in general.

I assume it's Springtrap using the Agony/Leftover Remnant of the props to whittle Mike down so he can kill him. In Pizza Sim he can't do that anymore obviously because all the props were destroyed in a fire, which is revealed in Pizza Sim as a way to free Souls/Remnant from objects.
I'd say Phantom Puppet is actually the biggest clue here, at least for when it comes to what the Phantoms are. Every other phantom we encounter on the cameras is in their proper phantom form. The Puppet the is sole exception. If the Puppet on the camera WAS a hallucination, it would not make sense for the one to appear before the nightgaurd to be burnt. This actually connects to the theory that objects relating to the Souls/Animatronics of the past trigger the Phantoms themselves, since not simply seeing the Mask is enough to cause the Phantom Puppet to appear, rather only the Puppet itself.
Looking back, phantom foxy missing one forearm pretty much predicted one of Foxy's arms catching fire during the production of the 2023 movie, lol. At least they were able to get it under control quickly and replace the damaged arm

I always thought that you had a ventilation error whenever a phantom appears and you just don’t see or hear it until they jumpscare you.
I always thought the phantoms were not actually created by Springtrap or Michael, but were instead the original souls of the dead children, roaming around the attraction as these phantom animatronics. You said it yourself that Fazbear's Fright is full of bits and pieces from the old Freddy's locations, including a bunch of old animatronic parts. It's not a stretch to say that the souls could have stayed attached to the robots, even after they were burned, torn apart, and placed inside of the horror attraction. It also makes sense if you think about when the Happiest Day minigame occurs. It happens right before the place is burned to the ground, which undoubtable destroyed all that was left of the original animatronics. My theory is that this is what allowed the souls of the children to finally find peace. Now that every last bit of the robots have been destroyed, the kids' souls are no longer attached to them, and they can finally move on into the afterlife. That is... if they decide too.
Phantoms are both hallucinations caused by agony and trauma as well as sparks of the spirits present in the area - since their bodies are all broken apart

I always theorised that the phantoms are the souls of the children without working suits, bound to the location until the fire which sets them free. The last time we see the phantoms in the whole series (aside from UCN, FNaF World and HW1) is in Night 6 of FNaF 3, the same night the attraction burns down. Perhaps the reason they are somehow attached to Springtrap is just because they've always been near the Spring Bonnie suit. They died near it, it's theorised it was there during FNaF 1, we know it was there in FNaF 2 with the "Someone used one of the suits, a yellow one..", so maybe they literally just stick around it, but are able to manifest because of all the parts from their old suits being so close. It could even explain why Phantom Chica is the classic model, not the withered. For every other spirit, they have parts of their original design. Foxy has the hook. Mangle has the head. The Puppet has the mask. But we see no hint of Withered Chica anywhere. But what *do* we see? A classic Chica head on the floor in Cam 8. You *could* point out Phantom Freddy being a withered yet there being no Withered Freddy parts around, but I do believe that's Golden Freddy, who already doesn't really obey the rules of the other animatronics. It would explain why they don't show up in FNaF 6. They're already gone. It *would* throw a spanner in the works for Henry's line, "Small souls trapped in prisons of my making" as the ones in his animatronics are already gone, but who knows, maybe he might literally just doesn't know that they're free.

As someone who works at a haunted house, being alone in a part of the house even when the lights are on, you’ll start seeing shit, or at least thinking you do, even if you are a skeptic like me. i always thought it was the mci attaching themselves to springtrap and in fnaf 6 they attach to molten freddy. another idea is that springtrap stopped using the halucinations in fnaf 6 because they failed to work on mike in fnaf 3. why waste your supernatural power on something that wont work especially when there are other animatronics to provide as distractions for you.
If Springtrap ever joins Dead by Daylight, I would hope they bring in the Phantoms as a part of their killer power.

The Reason why Scraptrap can’t Summon the Phantoms is Because by The time Fnaf 6 Happens, Afton is already gone and Missing from Fnaf 3, It’s Unclear where he went, But there is a Pretty Good Hint in Fnaf 6 that Scraptrap who Ends Up Having his Charred Remains Resurrected to Become Burntrap, Means that Scraptrap is The Mimic (and Technically so is Springtrap, But that Part of Lore is for Another Day)

One of the possibilities is that the Phantoms are caused by Shadow Freddy. Dark, shadowed yet three-dimensinonal body, noticeable teeth abd glowing eyes. Shadow Freddy is afgiliated with Afton, so the Phantoms atrack you. Hell, you know how in ONAF 3 Flumpty makes clones of himself that fulfill different roles? Maybe the Phantoms are like this, but with Shadow Freddy. After all, 3 was meant to be the final game, and what better way to end everything off than by facing the main antagonist and their greatest ally?

For the question at 14:00, Keep in mind that we see Dark Springtrap after the Fazbear Fright's fire, and it's clear that he was damaged because of the fire.
I think the reason why Scraptrap can't create Phantoms is because he was weakened from the Fazbear's Fright which probably burned away some of his remnant that probably took some of Springtrap's Supernatural powers with it.

What about springtrap manifesting apparitions as extensions of himself, or they are literal phantom apparitions of the spirit bound animatronics haunting parts of things related to them.
All could be possibilities but have subtle things letting you know what can be discounted.
The most likely explanation is that the ventilation system is trash, so the phantoms appear as a result of the ventilation system failing. They dont cause it to fail themselves. Apparently "Remnant" is highlg sensitive to ventilation and oxygen intake.
I like to think that they are just that, phantoms aka the spirits of the dead children forced to hunt afton and they attack mike to warn him of what will happen if he stays
It is possible Springtrap is inducing these halucinations via one of those weird mental perception discs the Funtimes have in them. That would also explain why no one noticed the obvious human corpse inside Springtrap. And he cant do it in Pizza Simulator cause the disk broke in the fire.

My personal head cannon is that Mike saw Withered Freddy and Withered Foxy in a greater state of disrepair than what we saw in FNaF 2...
My only theory for this is that he showed up to the place the last day it was open _(just undocumented),_ and he saw Foxy and Freddy in a more decrepit state, Foxy's jaw hanging open, as he stands there missing an arm hunched over _(his eye backlights already turned off, despite the shine on his eye casing almost looking like a single white pupil, following Mike),_ Freddy laying on the floor missing a leg, his ear hanging off the side of his head from a few wires _(his eye backlights also turned off, with the same eerie shine).
As for Withered Bonnie and Withered Chica, they were already fully decommissioned (gone), last Mike saw them, hence why Bonnie doesn't have a phantom and Chica's phantom is FNaF 1 Chica instead.
And the trauma _(mixed with ventilation)_ caused hallucinations of this decrepit state they were in. Hence, the Phantom Animatronics.
This is just my head canon for why the Phantom Animatronics exist, and why they look the way they do. If it doesn't make sense, that's fine, I just wanted to get this out there, for people to judge accordingly.🤷♂
My theory: did you noticed that for some reason, Ph. Puppet shown on cameras as.....normal FNaF 2 Puppet? So, what if Marionette on the camera is actually real(+it have shades and reflection on the floor, which he couldn't had if he was a hallucination. Yeah, we have Golden Freddy, who is a ghost, but for some reason his head also have a reflection on the floor in the office hallway....but i think it's just render glitch, cuz no matter how strong Cassidy is, she can't just break base logic just cuz "she is very evil and mad at Willy", and make her ghostly head form being physical), and his Phantom version is actually Charlie's soul releasing from her own body and taking ghost form. Also how we can assume, Marionette/Charlie can creating hallucinations, like these flickering images of Puppet after he leaved music box, so....what if all Phantoms we see in FNaF 3 can be created by Charlie, who now messing with Michael mind, and maybe it's she responsible for system errors.

Ok so heres what I always thought this game was:
FNAF 3 takes place somewhere after FNAF 1 & before Security Breach.. meaning all of Afton’s work has already been done. It is revealed to us that Afton was killed in the spring lock suit after trying to escape the ghosts of the kids.. the reason they were in spirit form is because William broke down the animatronics which in turn, freed the kids souls. Once William “died” in the suit in the safe room, he was sealed away For years. When the phone dude found the room, they uncover/free who we now know as SpringTrap… and he is roaming the halls looking for us, however I think the “hallucinations” are the kids showing us that they are still here as well.. appearing to us the same way they appeared to William before his death.
P.s the scene in the trailer for FNAF 3 with spring trap twitching, I believe was moments after the minigame when he died

Well if we’re playing as Michael in all the games then he’s seen all of the animatronics and could be hallucinating. Also remnant is destroyed by burning it so Michael could have burned down the previous places and undone his fathers work. Also it would explain the burnt appearance of the phantoms.
