Nice video, by the way i picked up a 30001 r on ebay untested. It turns out it actually has a 400c laser which is more reliable than 400b, it’s true because it had a warranty seal on it. So I would assume not all 30001Rs have very shitty 400bs in them. I would assume later 30001Rs models have either A very reliable 400c or a HD7 laser. If those have either of those lasers, then it’s most likely a V5.
Very nice video man I plan to be doing this repair myself here in coming weeks after I order a replacement laser and a couple of other small things i need (my eject/ power button cable in damaged, controller one is rough as well so replacing that)
Just got two 50001 models in and I suspect both have bad LB11971 chips which controls the motor spindle. Sony definitely went with the lowest bidder with these. They have issues but when they work, they work great.
that is why i just replace the motherboard and be done. those chips are hard to find and are obsolete of the manufacturer and faked a lot. if worse comes to worse it comes a parts console
@@axcc Plus the chip is surrounded by very tiny smd caps and resistors that can easily be blown off or damaged with a hot air gun. The LA chip is not as bad to replace but still annoying. Finding a replacement 50001 board is not exactly easy anymore so I try to save them.
You are right on that. Parts are very hard to find as these systems die. That is why I am giving all the videos I can for the experience I have on these ps2s
The PS2 50001 is my main game console in four years ago I am finding a PS2 Fat in Ebay and I almost got a PS2 30001 R from a bid but I ended up get a 50001 because that's a console I can get right away which it's more reliable than my PS2 75001 slim I had before and I was lucky to get a free copy of the GTA 3 and maybe I can buy a another PS2 fat with a i link port
On my ps2 I notice it has a hard time reading blue disc and some Original Playstation 1 games when it sit flat but it reads it better when I have it stands up but it read DVD like a champ I'm not sure if the laser is going bad if feels like I have to keep my Playstation 2 Standup if I want to play Compact Disc but DVD is fine And I also notice it read DVD faster than Compact Disc

I've never seen a 30001R with a HD7 laser. I've seen plenty of B's and C's though.
@Austin532 with a gh-15 motherboard. Watch that system management controller. They go bad all the time.

I'm glad you liked it. Lasers are becoming extremely difficult to get and find. Make sure it is a new laser or send it back.

i have them in stock this will be my last batch due to lasers jumping up to 150.00 a piece for a new one
