I bought a PS2 for 5 bucks at a garage sale last week with that kind of laser in it ( The red one you got at a flea market). Works great too.. I have a few SPU3170's lasers for that but I didn't need it since it worked. 5 bucks well spent.
Also this. OPL USB speed is crap, Popsstation is not good, my console is 7500x slim (which has no jumper point for ide), using SMB might cause online to be unusable. My idea is that the ODE optic uses MicroSD or sata connection

@@bitelaserkhalif That is the dream! You can always get a 7000x and do a 44pin ide mod. I'm going to be trying it soon to see if I can get a 2tb installed internal to replace the disc drive. Hopefully it works as planned with the appropriate IDE to sata adaper. 2.5 drives only need 5v which should be simple enough to pull from the USB port.

For a reason I remember somebody saying that the newer slims (around 7700x or so) should not use this app. The reason is they slowly corrupt the data when written to the EEPROM (and I personally have seen a 77004 go absolutely awry over the span of an year after I flashed its EEPROM with Lenschanger) but again, whoever has tried this and knows more in depth, I'd like to be proven totally wrong. Oh, and one more fun fact - you can flash the "400R" data to a v9/10 as well. The only difference between the HD7 and 400R is the casing - they're both the same type of lens. Only that the 400R is a slightly older HD7 revision found in most v5-v7 machines - otherwise it's perfectly drop-in compatible with a v9/10 that runs a HD7.
That last part is very important regarding the Modbo/Infinity chips. I've never had an issue with my slim ps2 (which I bought from you lol) and disabling it to use a FMCB card, but I've seen people on certain fb groups have issues with Infinity clones not being able to use FMCB cards even after disabling it. Idk why, tbh. It should theoretically work the same. Maybe their board revision somehow disallows all functions of the chip to take hold? Idk.
Yeah there's a lot of weird little nuances with those modchips and how they function on various ps2 revisions. Finding info on it can be tough or the info can just be wrong. There's alot of trial and error. Disabling the chip worked for me on my slim Ps2 for FMBC and running the software. If people have issues though, uninstalling the 3.3v wire should cover all bases. Just reattach it after running the software.

You should really edit this and tell people to rename the BOOT.ELF file for lens changer, because when I copy and paste it to the BOOT folder, it overwrites the BOOT.ELF file for uLaunch.ELF and then you're locked out of using the file browser, so I had to do a complete reinstall of FMCB
Well yeah if you overwrite ulaunch with lenschanger you’re going to have a bad time. If you copied it to the boot folder of your memory card that’s on you.
Can I use this tool to see which drive I have in my PS2 without disassembly? I want to repair my 2 Slims and I don’t want to disassemble them without having the parts on hand.
hello, i´ve had a 400c laser but got a hd7 from another ps2 that was working, after changing the eproom the ps2 still doesn´t start reading the games(but it detets dvd on dvd drive), i´ve used lenschanger. What i´m missing here? thanks in advance

yo so i got a ps2 in the console reads cds fine but dvd will just spin and say reading for however long i will let it its been opened. is it possible that the laser needs to be remarried? or will it not work at all if it needs to be remarried? im just thrown off because the laser like moves as if the disc was read and every other case ive had the disc will stop spinning eventually if it is defective. any help would be appreciated
The KHS400B/C (yellow circle) are the worst lasers, i have 28 ps2 consoles, every one with the 400B/C laser are Kaput, and they are not even cleanable, The 400R is way better, last longer, and even when they are on their way to wearing out they can be cleaned and will carry on going again for months, or even years. only sad thing about the 400R is they are more expensive.
Can you please give me the full model number for that 400r and kinda explain the software needed to make my PS2 interchangeable just a little info would be greatly appreciated I'm working on two ps2 myself would you point me in the right direction
400c and HD7/400r are actually very reliable. 400c are common replacement especially in 50k models due to mechacon crash. Other than that those lasers are very reliable, my 400c still works very well to this day
I'm having this issue too! Were you able to figure it out? I tried redownloading lenschanger, reinstalling FMCB, trying different video cables, all with no success.
@@AintSoSlimShady i was using component and as soon as i opened the program it turned black. So i unplugged component cable and i plugged in a composite yellow cable and the program showed on my tv. Also make sure its a old tv that supports low resolution

Yo I tried running the program after swapping my SCPH-50001 laser with a 39001 with the LENSCHANGER.elf and it just goes to a black screen, any suggestions?

I had one that came with my launch ps2 slim 70001 model and the laser doesn’t work no more
And I mostly like the SPU3170 laser cause they can read blu disc easily unlike those other laser

Might be something else going on. Bad ribbon, bad replacement laser ect. Burns are tricky. Might need to dial in the dvd pot

I think no program is required for the 400b to switch to the 400c

what was going on with desoldering right before installing the replacement laser?
The solder blob is anti-static that has to be desoldered before installation for it to work
I have tried to open the lef file and boot file and i just get a black screen. I tried it on 2 ps2 fats. Any ideas?

@@AintSoSlimShady yes i did. It was a video issue. As soon as the file opens it switches to what ever the yellow video cable is called.
