I bought a 93 Ford ranger 14 years ago with 223,000 miles for $1400 to daily to work. The reason so cheap it needed a new hydraulic slave cylinder for clutch. It now has 508,000+ miles and still rocking the original engine transmission and rear end! It's pretty much rust free as well since i undercoat it with the old oil from oil changes once a year with a paint brush. Drive train has never been out of vehicle, no tics taps or raps, nor does it leak anything!!! 3000-3500 mile oil changes and just good regular maintenance! Love my daily ranger, never Left me ever! It has factory ford 15" chrome wheels and an aftermarket old school tube grill and tinted windows so it looks descent as well? Lol I originally wanted an older Tacoma but the prices were out the roof!
@@somewhereinarizona793 it has the 2.3 litre, 5sp 2wd. Things still has 3 of the 4 original ball joints and about 4 thousand miles ago I replaced the original u joints in the driveshaft.
I have a 2003 ford ranger xlt 3.0 RWD. It runs really good. I have done a lot of work to it and has been well worth it. 206,800 miles and runs like brand new. Doesn't leak a drop of oil. The two most over looked parts on a ford ranger is the oil pump and timing chain. And I have done new oil pump and rear main seal and front transmission seal. And all sensors, just because they were old, and man I'm glad I did. More power and better gas mileage.
I’m getting an 08 FX4 off-road next month, and I’m looking forward to it! We don’t get imported small trucks here anymore mainly because of the “chicken tax” which has become a hefty (25%) tariff on imported light trucks, essentially protecting US automakers from having to outperform well-designed and competitively priced import work vehicles like those new Toyotas, which is part of the reason Mazda sold these Ford rangers as their own B-series trucks here in the US while they were still in production.
Just picked up a neighbor's 2003 Ranger XLT 4WD for $500 & I love fixing up this little truck. Even the oem Ford service manual on DVD is cheap on ebay.
A couch, loveseat and two arm chairs fit in my '01 ranger long bed. The next time i moved we loaded it on my '04 Silverado crew cab and it didn't fit the whole living room! Wish I still had the little green ranger.
I want to get one but it has to be a diesel. I live in tampa, florida, and after the hurricanes, the gas stations only had diesel fuel. So I learned my lesson.

Read somewhere that the reason trucks like that don't exist anymore is because of EPA and CAFE standards...
Leave it to the EPA to

I think the Mazda is made by ford and yeah the chicken tax killed the affordable little truck in the us market
