    It is thrilling to go down memory lane. We had groceries from Mistry Provision Store and Dr D N Patel was our family Doctor. Both located in Alimanga Building. Also had Mohogo from a vendor who sat there.We stayed at Temple House opp. to BUDDHIST TEMPLE on Mindu Road in W. Upanga. Studied in Upanga Primary School opp. Agakhan Diamond Jubliee
    Hall. Left for India in Dec.1964. Attended Shihsu Kunj every Sunday on the grounds of D.A.GIRLS SCHOOL.

    I have tears streaming down my face, thank you for giving so much of your time generously to help us reconnect us with our childhood, i think you know already but yes i grew up in alimanga and this area. Btw, old bombaywallah's did do repairs, i rememebr taking our pasi's to them when they broke down, i think one of the sons did the repairs, so they may be related. Bless you, stay safe and well on all your travels!

      Hello... It was always there but not affected people as much as in Europe. This was in November 2020. I think more and more people are now wearing masks in March 2021 but still not widely used despite Covid being there.

    Thanks for your walking adventure but you stopped short when you got to Alimanga building.You should have gone towards Maratha Mandal and shown the original Alimanga building because our Family lived on the ground floor and next door neigbhours were Shobi's and Ishnashri's.The walkabout brings memories all good ones.The shops in Alimanga were mostly 90% empty in my days and now see all occupied and like it.Keep sending/posting more videos.Next time show what the street behing old alimanga that goes down to the Mtendeni School looks like.Kwaheri bwana.Asante Sana

    Our family Dr Patani was based at the end of Zaknaki Street opposite Ali Manga building. Used to take the shortcut via that gali to the temple rather going the other way. The khundus wow were fab too.

    Thanks for the video nice commentary
    Your swahili is amazing. I have so many questions. How safe is it in the evenings? Would be interesting to see the costs and prices of the fruits you buy. Are the old sports centres like the karimjee sports club upanga sports clubs and gymkhana still there

    • @AltafDaya
      @AltafDaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So sorry for not being able to get the prices. Time was short so couldn't go back to record. It is fairly safe to walk in the town in the evenings. You just have to be careful with yiur belongings like the phone, etc - thats the same with most big cities I guess. The sports club are there... Maratha, Upanga Sports Club, Gymkhana, DJ.... many are not fully utilised as "sports clubs" but just as an entertainment venue, restaurants and meeting joints. Mostly people play Badminton, Darts and Cards. A few have volleyball associated with it. A couple have snooker but mostly people now use their own community centre facilities.
