- NTS-1 Gets Weird!
The NTS-1 is such a powerhouse of an effects box for the price, so today we're combining it with the PO-35 Speak. The Speak is undoubtedly the most underrated Pocket Operator, and this jam today proves it!

I swear that the PO/NTS combo is the most fun you can have in a 15min improv jam. Such cool music!
It's a pretty sweet combination, the NTS-1 is just so versatile!
@@FreeBeat I only purchased it as an intro-to-synth instrument but I have found it to be so useful. Thanks for adding to the joy of it!
Fantastic contribution you have made here Mr. Free Beat. Smart use of a streamlined gear setup. More interesting that some tracks out there boasting thousands in equipment and crazy signal/routing chains. All my best Eric
Thanks so much! I remember this one being a lot of fun to record :)
This is very cool, thanks for sharing!
One of my favourites Freebeat jams!
🎉 nice combo , good work !
this needs more likes, very cool mix, and great dome of the product.
Thanks so much!
Outstanding!
Thanks so much!
I don't have PO-35 but I love what I've heard, The formants, I think that's what they're called sound surprisingly amazing.
It's on my "to buy list" which pretty long, lol...Pocket Operators are just plain fun.
Yeah the speak is really underrated. You can get some screamin' leads out of it, as well as some giant basses!
Definitely one of the more eye-opening jams. Both very impressive machines.
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff! 😄
Thanks!
Man, love your Mojo on these, thank you for all the fun videos you produce. Request slash challege: can you make a PO ( with other noise maker if need be) sound like an electric guitar? Thank you!
Glad you like the videos. I'm not sure about creating an electric guitar type noise, outside of sampling one on the 33. The pocket operator is definitely have a heavily synthesized sound.
I’ve done it before my looping the po32 through a bass distortion pedal. It’s a $500 Darkglass pedal but I’m sure there’s cheaper alternatives.
The pedal has multiple inputs and outputs so I was able to feed it back into itself.
Man, thanks guys, for getting back to me!
Missed those…
Cool Thomas, I will look for something like your pedal, but more affordable. Huck some feedback around!
Too cool!
Fair play your the dude.
Getting something serious out of kit anyone could afford 😊
Peace
Thanks so much for watching!
nice sound sculpting ⚔️💀⚔️
I've had the Rick 'n' Morty version of the Speak for about a year, but have completely failed to understand it's place in my collection. Thanks for the incredible eye-opener!
Glad you found the video helpful, thanks for watching!
Always wondered what on earth that Speak does.
Its a pinkywinkywonkyweirdywoozey Gizzmo!
🤣🤣
Hahahaha yeah it's an odd one, but in the best way!

I’m not sure if you’ve seen the film Hook with a Robin Williams but that little phrase sounds like a piece of music from that film’s score!
Oh man you're right it totally does hahaha. 100% unintentional but pretty neat!
So would it be possible to record verses and vocode them to send to a daw as an added vocal audio effect?
Great content. Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see you messing around with some bastl gear at some point.
Thank you! I haven't really looked too much into any of their gear. Any recommendations? (Low budget is best lol)
@@FreeBeat it's all cool stuff. But yeh, can be a bit expensive. Bastl Kastle is the cheapest I think.
@@FreeBeat Definitely the Kastle 1.5, it's semi modular digital synth, goes well with the POs.
@@SidRockett I'm gonna have to check that out after my desk project is finished!
@@FreeBeat Hey check out their Microgranny ....granular sampler. It's ummm....a bit addictive, and does pair well with the NTS-1.
Did you try and record chords into Speak? I was just wondering how good that could be. I love sampled chords so I hope to try that out maybe you did already? :)
I can't remember if I've done that or not, but that sounds like a great video idea!
@@FreeBeat would love to see that! Please let me know if it's happening at your end! Cheers! :)
Is the speak set up as Master?
Technically yes, but I'm actually not syncing the two devices. The NTS-1 is just providing the effects, as well as the few sounds I play in real time from the keyboard. I just ran the audio out from the Speak into the audio into of the NTS-1, and then ran that into my recording interface. Thanks for watching!
@@FreeBeat That was the bit that I wanted to know. I got it now, thanks !
More arp bud!
The PO-35 is pound for pound the best Pocket Operator.
Objectively speaking, you might be right. There's a LOT of features crammed into it!
