Finally was able to set it up clicked random once in BeatSpace and it made one of the dopest beats... This script is amazing and Microtonic overall is great... I would have never known about the plugin if it wasnt for the Tonic Pocket Operator... but the plugin alone is amazing for drums in my DAW too... Great find... Great Video... Thanks again
IMPORTANT: I was told you can't transfer patches with the trial version of Microtonic. I can neither confirm nor deny this. Either way, Microtonic is well worth buying!
I confirm : trial version doesn’t allow transfer to PO-32, as hacked version. @sonwu interesting fact : you can have a 25% sold on Microtonic you prove you bought a Tonic (serial number)
great video and still relevant a year and a half later :) one thing you didn't cover is the ability to create two sounds per sound so that you can morph between them - this then gives you the ability to tweak each sound in the PO with the A and B knobs - this opens up a whole other dimension
Hey I’m back. Basically you move around the map and it is adjusting the sliders for you in the background. It’s not unlike the drummer feature in GarageBand (iOS/MacOS) and Logic Pro. Reason is doing this now as well with one of their drum patches… called Beat Map. There are some nice tribal beats going on there!! I like going into Patternarium for different 4 bar drum loops… Thanks Son Wu have a great day!!
What an awesome update to microtonic. I own the TE Tonic and have had my eye on Microtonic. I’ll definitely be getting Microtonic soon after seeing this. Great video. Thanks 😊
If they could include the full functionality of the microtonic into the EP-133 size and price, that wouldn't KO but completely drive the competition to extinction. They could even charge 350 + 100 for the software and pay the 100 to the dev directly for every device sold. Or you could buy the device and register it with your current serial for 350. Win-win.
Great overview but my question is can I use each sound patch to run 16 sounds each with 16 different drum sounds i.e. 256 total sounds or is it limited to 16 sounds and anytime i want to change them i have to data transfer? I am brand new to the PO game but was able to find a PO-35 Speak and PO-133... I see the KO available on the TE site but cant find the Tonic anywhere... I feel it would be the perfect addition for syncing... I noticed the drum track on the Speak has a 1 tonic drum track with 16 different drum sounds and the street fighter also has patched with multiple sounds on a patch instead of just cutting my track... Or were they just recorded in succession? Maybe I have multiple questions haha... Overall thanks for the current overview of the product... No one seems to be making new explanation vids on the POs
The PO-32 works differently...it really has only 16 sounds at a time. But it is still very good...and as a drum machine far superior to the PO-35. If you can find one, grab it! Additionally, the PO-32 can play 4 voices at once. one out of each column of buttons.
Reminds me of the Volca Drum but more flexible. I loved that Volca but eventually grew tired of it. Definitely need to dedicate some time to checking this out.
No problem! Thanks for the video! I’m leaning toward the Tonic being my first drum machine. I have a Korg OpSix, but I want a “dedicated” drum machine. And I want it to be simple. 😂 The only thing I’m unsure of is whether the Tonic can make drumkit sounds in addition to electronic drum sounds.
@@goosegaskins It is possible to load reproductions of vintage drums machines into the tonic, some of them are sample based and might be closer to what you want. check this: soniccharge.com/forum/topic/1779-vintage-tonic?page=all
Ok, super noob question: I don't have any kind of DAW and I'm not sure how microtonic works as a plug in (not even sure what plug ins are! Super noob!!) Is there any way to use microtonic as a stand alone? I'd love to get into making and sharing kits but I don't want to spend ages learning about DAWs and plugins etc... any ideas?
@@ninjaturdle69 I can agree with this, however, you should consider that ko gives you a more likely lo-fi approach, when tonic synth sounds clean and loud. Personally, ko is my least favorite pocket operator due to sound quality issues, but I heard some really cool lo-fi tracks made with it. Maybe, sampling is just not my thing😄

Great, it's a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Tonic KO and Speak are the best POs imo. lots to play with

I really hope they will do that. I would be especially interesting in terms of Punch-in FX. I think they could do some great stuff with it :)

A slimmed down tonic should have always been free for po32 users, or just the beat space .
Would be cool, but also the sonic charge guys deserve some $!

I think this is a very good alternative to the volca drum. Using microtonic makes it. very flexible...you can even create melodic kits.

Hi , you need to buy both seperately , PO and microtonic ?
Yes, they offered a bundle for a while, but I don't know if that still exists.
what is the update exactly?
Beat Space!
You can’t connect your pocket operator to that software unless you’ve purchased the software.
Wish I could buy one but they're just as hard to get a an rtx mid covid
is the update not out yet? the puzzle icon is not functional on mine... im on a m1 mac... dunno if that matters
Look for the download for microtonic SCRIPTS on their website.
Im new to pocket operators, is this compatible with ones other than the 32?
Hi, only the PO-35 & 32 have the microtonic drum synth engine inside.
Cool! Curious if there are any deals on the software? It’s still pricey.
I THINK you can get a discount, if you own a PO-32.
Anybody noticed there isn’t one Tonic available in the world. I sold mine. :(
Sorry to hear that :(
Been trying to find a pocket operator in general, they're all being scalped

Good luck finding one ;)
is microtonic a free software?
No, but 3 week free trial. And if you got a PO-32 I think you can get a discount.
But the trial doesn’t allow you to transfer the sounds to PO :(

you don't want the Chinese Police to come after you.
We already had the patternarium, this is pretty nuts.
Why do people say you can use PO-35 wit this? Po-35 has mono drum track.
Yup, the PO-35 has a monophonic drum track...but it has 16 different sounds available. Just 1 of them can play at a time.
Wait.. po35? But isnt the po35 drum channel only one voice?
Yes, 1 voice at any given time…but still 16 different sounds!
