      never use public wifi. there are scamsters out there who will name their private network almost identical to that of the public wifi to feel like it's the official public wifi while it's not. This type of scam is very common so please stay clear of such unscupulous tactics by scammers.

      If you tell them you’re a vlogger, management will actually go out of their way to treat you better.

    I don't think this is a true "redemption" story. Would all passengers be treated to an upgrade if they are not youtuber? I think it would have been a better video if you flew and the crew and ground staff were informed in exactly the same way as before.

      @@TheByard yea, but there many reasons where Air Canada can ruin one passengers flight. Like we got premium economy, we got down graded, they only give free water, and not upgrade us the next flight. Even though we payed for it, at least they could of get us on premium economy at our next ride . ;(. I really think the government airline Air Canada was a thousand times more better then the privatized. Everyone was so nice, and the seats were good for that time.

    • @TheByard
      @TheByard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mubassirzaman7202 Air Canada should have reimbursed the difference in price of the premium to economy in some way.
      State run companies mostly run at a loss and that's why they privatized companies in the UK like BOAC/BA, British Railways etc. There also appeared to be a don't care attitude with the workforce with union backing them up. Many city and county councils now use contractors to carry out road repairs and garbage collection once done by council employees, over manning was a big cause in non profit making or even just breaking even.
      I have flown many airlines both on business and pleasure, some in the same airline in a week and one would be good the other terrible. I tended to shy away from that airline where I could. I have a complain with my wallet attitude.

    I see a lot of people making the point that he was treated better on the second trip because he was a TH-camr, that anyone else would not have had the same experience, and therefore the experience was not authentic. However, Josh never hid the fact that he would be videoing his first experience. He announced his presence to the airline and even the pilots knew him and greeted him. His status as a TH-camr was what led to the poor treatment in the first place. I think this video did a good job of showing how AC remediate its mistake in how it handled a known TH-camr being onboard.

    It was a good gesture to upgrade you to the business class product, which is very nice and complete by the looks of it. However, that still leaves you in a position to revisit your original mission, namely reviewing the economy counterpart.
    ATTENTION Air Canada management: you're not just the flag carrier (a revocable privilege; not a right) for our nearly 10 million square kilometre country. In many cases, you are the first piece of Canada international travellers experience abroad. In short, you are our air transport ambassador to the world (re-read that until YOU REALLY GET IT). Therefore, your economy class fixings, which I understand have deteriorated somewhat in recent years, should be over-the-top, and certainly comparable, if not better, than those of the flag carrier of the puny city state of Singapore (no disrespect to Singaporeans). There's no excuse for the current status quo. If you didn't cut corners in this area, you would never be concerned to show off your low end cabin product to any TH-camr. Moreover, the world would clammer to use your service on trans-oceanic routes whenever possible (assuming little or no price difference with other carriers). Remember. You only have ONE SHOT to make a good, lasting first impression. Stop short-selling Canada. We design and build the BEST single aisle jetliner in the world (CS 100/300 aka A220-100/A220-300). There's no reason why we can't also provide the BEST air transport experience on international routes.

    I was to get on Air Canada flight and was using a rollator. When I arrived at the special area for AC, the service person told me to go to the regular line. I said that I have always done this since I had to use aids for walking. When I went to the regular line to check in, the service person said what are you doing here , you should be in special service. I told her I had gone there and been told to come here. The service person told me that wasn’t right and actually took the time to call a supervisor. The supervisor told the person who was talking care of me to upgrade the whole party and they held the aircraft to put more first class stuff on board. The supervisor came on the plane to apologize again. We were well taken care of for the flight.

    In my opinion Air Canada is a decent business class product but is simply poor for an average traveler in economy. Their international catering standards lack creativity, quantity and quality. For so long as Air Canada keeps servicing small meals and banana bread as a pre arrival 'breakfast' on international flights I'll consider them poor and not at par for a 4 star rating unfortunately. Lack of adequate catering is what always ruins my flight experience when flying Air Canada

    The combination of your two flights with Air Canada is the true Air Canada experience. They are not consistent. Some crews are outstanding and some are rude and petty. For me I’d say half my trips with Air Canada are good. One of my most terrifying was when I was flying home from Vancouver and just after take off I hear really loud banging coming from the area by the door. It was an alarming sound that I had never heard on an airplane before. I asked a flight attendant what was going on and she said that one of her male counterparts got into a fight shortly before takeoff and he was punching the door... while we were flying over the Rocky Mountains. I am pretty sure you’re probably not supposed to punch the door while in flight. This was the one time I wished an airline employee had lied to me. Another time I was sending my mother to Sydney, Nova Scotia. It costs more to fly to Sydney then it does to Halifax but I didn’t want my mother to drive. They landed in Halifax instead and told her too bad, no credit, no rebooking on another flight they seem to have thought that they had brought her close enough to her destination. They dumped my elderly mother in a different city at 1am. Sometimes I feel like a hitchhiker even though I’ve paid thousands of dollars. That’s the airline that represents our country. There is nothing we can do about it and they know it.

    • @DaveSweetS
      @DaveSweetS 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      "There is nothing we can do about it and they know it" I would say until the airline remains profitable. At Alitalia lot of people tough the same during the good years, now look how it is: always on the edge, changing CEOs, managers, partners, asking for government aid every few years.
      So I suggest to canadians to not let your national airline get to the level where you all become unintentional customers of AirCanada with your taxes, or just because you don't have any better option.

    I have my share of horror stories with this airline, more than all other airlines combined - last week being the most recent. Next week, I’ll be travelling to Europe again with AC (I try to avoid the airline if possible) and for my own protection will have a personal camera to capture my interactions with staff. It’s no way for people to have to travel.

    Air Canada only are being nice because you shamed them online. They haven’t redeemed themselves at all. It’s not an unbiased review because they knew you were coming , told the crew you can film so it isn’t the same experience you would get if it was a passenger who they weren’t aware had an online audience of 100s of thousands. You got upgraded because they knew who you were. So this video is so pointless? It’s so unhonest and not a true reflection of air Canada’s service. They treated you awfully before they knew who you were and now they are trying to pull themselves out of the mud. Truly shocking

      Amazing how *airline unions* have ruined the in-flight experience.
      Ever notice that countries with zero union presence (Singapore, Qatar) have objectively better experience because the staff are always on their best behavior and not *complacent* unlike the US and Canada?

    I’m glad AC made it up to you. Any incident involving a passenger whether they are a TH-cam influencer or not should be addressed by the airline in a positive manner like how they tried to make it up to you.

    Well yes they did redeem themselves - as for the upgrade, that's a way to apologise and show they mean it, so it's not too bad. The meal looked really excellent - I have not flown with AC but having had many flights with EK business, I really enjoy some of the "airline steaks"... it is very nice to have a decent meal aboard... but it is something that is currently not as well served as it was before C19. Glad they did well, I have heard very varied reports about this airline, so it's good that we got to see both sides of the issue.

    April 2017; CA from Heathrow to Toronto Pearson Airport, I was sitting behind a young mother with her baby.
    She asked for a baby extended seat belt but was told that it was not necessary to buckle down her baby together with her during took off.
    Also refused to provide her with one during turbulence at her request.

      Might have to be because of SOP (Standard Operational Procedures) usually in the US atleast the baby cannot be held by the seatbelt, since the seatbelt is for the adult and the adult provides protection for the child

  • @burningblue1254

    I fly a lot because I have worked for a cruise line for 24 years. My home is Vancouver so I use Air Canada a lot. Because I am a 4 stripe officer, the company pays for premium economy but I pay for the upgrade to business class. I have always been treated very well and have no complaints about the service. I am 6 foot 4 and the leg room for sleeping is great. The one price for internet is great but I just pay with points so it's not out of pocket. I like that they ask if you want to be woken up for breakfast. My only complaint is that all salads etc have olive oil dressing and I hate the stuff. Sometimes I leave half my meal. Also I am allergic to chocolate. I guess I am spoiled because on the ship I can have a burger and fries with a strawberry milkshake. Sometimes you don't want a fancy meal but just comfort food. I am sorry about your first experience on Air Canada. I know that catching a ship in different places in the world certainly exposes you to different experiences but I would say by far my experiences have been good. I cannot help but compare the service on the ship to the flight. Cruise lines are not unionized environments and I know we treat our crews really well. But we do not tolerate anything but the best from them. Lackluster employees do not last.

    I don’t understand why everybody is scoffing at the VIP treatment. This is what you’re SUPPOSED to do in a service recovery; you do everything you can to get the customer back. Yes, the next time you fly with them, chances are you won’t get the VIP treatment but you’re back and that’s what the company wants. I used to work in a major hotel chain and anytime we received a nasty review, the front office manager would personally reach out and throw everything but the kitchen sink just to get them to come back.

    Air Canada shouldn't have to "redeem" themselves. It should be straight consistent professionalism for everyone every Single time without question! Unfortunately, that is not the case and it takes a video review revealing them for them to break out the bells and whistles. Sad!

    Great vlogs but I am sad that you could not review the economy class flight because of the incident. I usually do not like most Air Canada flight in economy because of high density on some 777. Seat are less large, the tray and screen smaller and the alley smaller.. I did YYZ-HKG on an AC 777-233LR model and then HKG-BKK on a Cathay 777-267 model and there is a huge difference in comfort. even if the Cathay plane was 10 years older. THanks

There is this phony impression that Canada is this super friendly, all for human rights nation. Imo I believe that to be false, especially throughout Covid. I also had a friend that worked for air Canada and always tells me the horror stories of how rude they are just because she was an American (from Alaska) working for a Canadian company. This is different from the Malaysia 'second chance' video because Josh choose to pay for his upgrade and he was not comparing like-for-like, so I have no idea if the service has improved. Here, in this video, he didn't pay for his upgrade and the company wanted to showcase the best of what they offer to show how atypical his previous experience was and as an apology, which i like. Things can and do go wrong, but how they are redeemed is important and I find this reassuring. x

    i've traveled internationally for past 25 years. Been on Air Canada, Singapore, United, Delta, Cathay, China, Air China, ANA, Korean Air, Vietnam, British Airways, EVA, Lufthans, KLM, China Eastern, Qantas, totally 3 million miles + on Star Alliance and Skyteam.....In my opinion, the service always depends on the crew. When you enter with cameras, the smart airlines of course will treat you better than others. I think a better review is if you fly anonymously and film secretly when possible. Additionally, in asia, when you are caucasian, the service is immediately better, i.e. Cathay, EVA, Singapore...... This is just the culture in Asia, in my opinion.
