99,9% of the owners of either of the cars won't take them to the track. And don't care about the track times. The ones that do visit the track, have porshe 911 or the Caymans, or something similar to that.
Here, it basically goes down to what you like more. The Range or the Porshce.
milosilic23 Lap time doesn't matter, but the way the car drives, handles, feels, etc. does, you feel that on the road. And the Porsche wins in those categories.

What i was trying to say is, if you didn't get it on the first go is this: Most of the owners of these cars WILL BUY WHAT THEY LIKE MORE AND NOT ON THE BASIS OF WHO IS FASTER.
derbigpr500 No doubt about that, the Cayenne is the benchmark for all sporty SUVs. What i'm trying to say is that the way it shifts through corners at 150kph isn't really gonna be what gets the buyers for either of these cars.
I know it wouldn't be my first thing to ask the salesman.

Id rather have the SVR, looks better and makes a hell of a better noise.
Track times dont really mean a lot with these cars really but the Porsche is always going to be better at that, but I doubt it would be able to go anywhere the SVR can off road

You made a right choice. SVR much better then that porsches. tested on me. my Cayenne GTS broke down completely, now porsch service can't help me and doesn't want to deal with me. they are cheaters.
Also the Porsche is not limited by the company it's self. So it can produce full power and tourque. While the SVR is actually so quick that they put a block at 285km/h and tourque at 600 something. While its real speed is about 330km/h. And also the guy in the video did not put it in dynamic mode

Comparing to lap times on other tracks think it would of cut another second at most
Seems to me that cayenne was not lowered for the track... It had air suspension but Im bot sure if it was lowered till the end.
I love driving my 500 horsepower Porsche Cayenne Twin Turbo. It has been a great daily drive. It handles corners really well.
Cayenne series has 8 speed AISIN tiptronic gearbox, not dual-clutch...
RangeRover Sport has 8 speed ZF tiptronic, which is superior to AISIN's

yeah but i think its the angle of the camera which was alined with the back wheel of the range rover creating heat that make it look like the wheel of the Porsche wobbly
The guys at Land Rover made sure the the SVR was still capable of doing everything the regular Range Rover sport could do off road. Unfortunately that is probably the reason it isn't as quick around the track as a Cayenne turbo.
whos going to take 150k dollars syv offroad? really? no one. reality no one will by rr sport to go offroad and cayenne to offroad, in reality, they will buy jeep or hummer, toyota to go offroad

we care about those things just because we love cars, and we don't have enough money to pay for those things or his reparations, that's the reason we respect them, but people who could don't seem to care about their cars :p

0:40 the Cayenne has a 8-speed ZF torque converter.
Actually it’s the same gearbox as the Range Rover but the Porsche is calibrated to be much snappier.

When you're doing timed racing laps it's better to get a pro racing driver to do these laps. This guy was struggling to control those cars especially the range rover which is a beast of a car.

I have watched this several times. Near the end of the video I noticed something. At about 6.22 the left front tire of the Porsche is "wobbling". The left rear tire also shows a slight wobble too but not as much. The Rover tires at this juncture seems to be OK. What's up with that? Low tire pressure?

ive driven the SVR a number of times its a beast, imo its going to be more fun to own day to day than the cayenne turbo. and will actually take you off road properly!

theres no dual clutch in the cayenne line up , only on the macan. You are looking at a traditional 8-speedauto

That sounds about right.
Here is the thing-You cannot beat car manufacturers in their own game easily. At the end of the day, JLR makes world's bet SUVs and Porsche makes the best sports car. F-Type will never be able to do what a 911 can do and Cayenne will never be able to compete with the Range Rover in terms of many many things! SVR is better than Cayenne!

+03056932R I'm telling you there is no comparison, watch the reviews that pit 2 both suvs together and you'll know what I'm talking about. the car had a magnificent exhaust though. and by the way we repeated the pull from various speeds and gears and the outcome was the sale each time. it was a blue RR SVR btw

One other issue you failed to mention is that the Porsche is $50K more than the Range Rover and seats more people. And I'm a Porsche owner!
If you want a track car then get a track car, I am sure that people who are in the market for an SUV do not care that one is 2.5 secs quicker around a track. The RR SVR looks way better inside and out than the Cayenne.

-Great video and comparisson, I could almost feel what you mean from the inside camera...
-Had similar expirience with A6 C7 vs BMW F10, one obviously more capable... Also I promisse you> if after the fight through the corners with the RR you go into Cayenne you'll scrape another second on it's lap time.
-Then the question: "Does it really mean anything out there in the real world".. YES it does, I know you wont race outthere, but the difference when you drive just little faster/sportier give you much better feel and confidenance, feel inside the car but also outside on other cars you overtake or the one which will play arround with you, as you will achieve what you imagine with much more ease.

The cayenne does not have a dual clutch transmission. It has an 8-speed Aisin transmisio. The SVR has an 8-speed ZF. Only the Macan has the dual clutch transmission
Logo on the grill in RR looks a little bit cheap and in my opinion is simillar to Vaxhall Monaro logo :D

Well yeah the porsche is built like a sports car, the rangerover is an fancy offroad vehicle with a big motor. You can safely push the porsche to its limits since thats what it was engineered to do.

I already knew what the result would be. The Porsche Cayenne has always been far superior to ANY SUVs out there. The sad thing is they didn't even have to break out the Turbo S. Sorry, Porsche is just heads above the Range Rover if you are talking about performance.

If any car's track performance is less relevant it's this one. This whole class of cars is somewhat offensive, but at least the Range Rover has a certain charm. People who buy these want it to feel like a sports-tank rather than a sportscar

Steph Gijzenberg Those two vehicles aren't even comparable. The RR Sport is comparable to a large cup of coffee in terms of size, while the Cayenne is only a medium cup. It's definitely and interesting comparison, but not one that you can't draw any conclusions from. Anyone would be able to guess that the RR would be slower.
The Cayenne has air suspension, and it seems you're racing it in normal ride height in which it's more comfy and less agile as when it's driven in the tighter more sporty lower ride height setting. Not sure if you were aware of that...?
For me downside of both cars is they are stupidly quiet inside even under serious stress of track battle. When you hear them from outside they are wonderful, inside I just hear 20% of sound pleasuring exhausts. Maybe to put some speakers inside (BMW) heh?! :P

There's no comparison between the two, as the SVR is a heavy SUV that should be compared to a car from the same range, for example a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG wagon. To me the Porche Cayenne is magnificent ,and so is the SVR but the weight and size differences play a huge role in the way those vehicles handle on the road.
I'm not sure if the Porsche is that good on track or if the dude driving is very skilled..
What about an offroad test?
