    Another great video Roxy, For everyone reading I started Roxy's "Gravity yoga" course 2 weeks ago. I can 100% recommend it!!!! I have had a tight lower back for ages. It was also highlighted last year when learning to manual. I really injured myself and was off the bike for a couple of weeks. After seeing a chiropractor he diagnosed tight hamstrings and that one leg was stronger than the other, thats why I had the injury. So after treatment and strengthening exercises I was back on the bike and practicing. But still has a tight lower back even though I was stretching. Then I signed up for the Gravity yoga and within a week I could feel a massive difference, I was quite shocked to be honest.... Even though I was stretching before it was short hold stretches for the count of 10, the way Roxy's programme is set out and the techniques are totally different. I'm loving the personalised schedule she set out for me and the feedback I get from my questions. I'm blown away at the difference I feel and I'm extremely happy with my progress, Thank you Roxy X

      Thank you SOO SOOOO MUCH for your comment, Kai! I am SO EXCITED to read about your progress! It was exactly the same for me...Actually still nowadays, still, if I don't do my Gravity Yoga exercises for 3 days, I have pain... And only 10 minutes of Gravity Yoga ease the pain. It is so amazing. I am SO HAPPY to read this because I think it is such an underrated topic... And I really wish someone would've told me a few years ago.

    I started to watch your videos a few weeks ago. After watching a lot of different (a very good) other coaching videos, I found that yours always bring the additional thing, the little clever trick and explanation that was missing elsewhere. I wish I could fly to be able to meet you and to have some real coaching ! Until there I am starting your gravity yoga training !
    Thank you very much for sharing all you findings !

    I wish I understood this earlier...I just recovered from a pulled muscle in my hip. It left me unable to move without pain for 2 weeks and I just started road riding 4 weeks after the fact. I did it in the middle of squats and credit my extremely tight legs. It was the first time in my life my body failed my mind in this way and I blame doing an entire season of hard mountain biking every other day, sitting in a chair working from home and a ski season without stretching (on top of historically having tight hams). It goes without saying, I now stretch before and after every effort as well as on my off days.

    Hab mir den Kurs dann auch mal gegönnt 😊. Bin bei so Sachen ja sonst eher skeptisch, aber deine schlüssigen Erklärungen und Argumente haben mich erstmal überzeugt 😊. Was man nicht wegdiskutieren kann: Lockdown respektive Homeoffice haben in Punkto Beweglichkeit durchaus Spuren hinterlassen 😕. Da richtest du auch mit Krafttraining im Homegym nicht viel gegen aus 🤷‍♂️. Also mal auf was neues einlassen, auch wenn ich Yoga bisher immer mit Woodoo in Verbindung gebracht habe 😂😂. Bin schon sehr gespannt ...

    I'm 68 and have had knee pain from biking. As it turned out, I think it was because my kneecap wasn't tracking properly. Prior to biking, I now move my patella back and forth to help free up its movement. Since I started doing that, I've not had knee pain anymore. Whether that's my imagination or not, flexibility, generally is very important. And we stiffen up as we age!

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes!! It’s not imagination, it’s just the way we work. And we do stiffen up as we age. Unless we do something against it. So happy to hear you feel better. 😊

    Great Video Roxy, Thanks! I have a question I hope you can share your thoughts on. I'm older and have lost flexibility in recent years, particularly in my hamstrings. Clearly I need to work harder on flexibility, but I'm wondering how much bike geometry might help. My current bike has a 73.5 degree seat tube angle and I have the saddle almost all the way forward, and I run a 100mm stem, so I don't feel like I have much room to move my body much further forward on this frame. What are you thoughts regarding moving to a more modern trail frame geometry with a 76 degree seat tube angle and a longer TT with perhaps a higher bar height? Do you see any downsides to making this change in regards to flexibility?

      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve,
      Im always a fan of upgrading bikes 😉 generally, what you need to compare is the reach and stack numbers, as what matters is how you’re standing on it, not how you’re seated - as you’ll be standing for most downhills. Or at least you should be ;-)
      If you have a chance, try out a modern geometry and see how it feels.
      Generally, I wold recommend to ask a bike fitting expert about these topics - everything I would say now form afar would be based on guessing and that’s something that may but probably will not help. 😊
      However, working on your flexibility (like with my course) is always the best “upgrade” to your skills - if you’re lacking range of motion 😊 and then upgrading the bike will be a plus.
      Hope this helps!
      ~ Roxy

    People with tight hips and hamstrings should most definitely avoid trying the pose from the thumbnail! Just sayin'. ^^

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope not really :-) not stretching because you’re too tight is like saying “I’m too dirty to shower” 😇😇
      I include variations for every pose in my course. The course is suitable for every level and the stiffer you are, the more you need it 🙂

      @@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire I'm not saying you shouldn't stretch if you're tight, I'm talking specifically about the pose from the thumbnail, which is not beginner friendly and a lot of people will just round their backs. 🙃

      @@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire But spine rounding and vertebrae compression is most definitely not okay. 😕 It will get you there, but it's not safe and advisable.
      And with all due respect to Lucas and his classes, Gravity yoga is just Hatha yoga, but I suppose the use of fancier words makes it more appealing to the masses. Which is fine, I'm for whatever it takes to get more people involved in yoga. 😁
      Anyways, I love your channel and your unique approach to everything! You're doing fantastic, keep dropping those knowledge bombs and scratch for me one of your furry fellas between the ears! 😸🙏

      @@dkgray828 haha 🐈 will scratch them - they love that and truly appreciate your care 😻
      Happy to hear you like the channel and my approach. 😍
      In my eyes Gravity Yoga is not “just hatha yoga” because it’s actually a form of Yin Yoga - however, it’s a very measurable and functional type of yin yoga. It’s not spiritual at all - it’s very “clear and simple” - which makes it super easy to follow for all levels. Also, as it is measurable and applies modern research about stretching, it brings MUCH faster results. And it’s very “anti alignment” which makes it super easy to follow for all levels.
      The rounding of the spine, for example, is not a problem at all for healthy spines - in contrast, it’s actually healthy for a healthy spine 😊 Our spine is made to go into all extremes. But I do agree that this pose in specific (plow pose) is not the goal for a “stiff” person - but generally, in gravity yoga, the pose is NEVER the destination. The destination is the SENSATION 😍 ie we never aim to go into a pose but have LOTS of different variations to feel the sensation and to target the individual areas of tightness. 🤗😊
