I would never live in a city. I have a 2 bedroom house with extra space upstairs (story and a half) and a quarter acre, fenced in, in the nicest neighborhood I've ever lived, WITH pets, for $900.

Yep, definitely, lol! I also like how he called the spaces "huge", lol! My 1,100 sqft apt (which includes a 10×10 sunroom and the complex is surrounded by lovely trees) in NC is $1,300. When I moved in in 2008 it was $700.
Is it difficult to get mortgages in 🇺🇸 and are deposits huge, I struggle to understand why people pay huge rents instead of buying 🤔

New Yorkers are an entirely different breed of people than me. I would NEVER pay even a fraction of those prices for rent. I also could never live in a city like that. I can't even wrap my brain around so many people everywhere! I'd have a panic attack every time I left the house. But very interesting to see how others live.

I'm from a 1.3 million "metropolis" and you couldn't pay me to move back. NYC was just a bigger (and MUCH ruder) version of it. I didn't get the hype back then and I still don't get it now. Currently in a 20K city and as much as we loved it at first, it quickly became apparent that even this is too big. Looking at moving later this year or sometime next year.
I hear so many people say they pay for the experience to live in NY but I used to work for the city of NY and the calls I used to get put me off to even visiting let alone live there

All these apartments are owned by his price gouging landlord friend. This channel is basically a real estate advertisement for his friend, thats why all the apartments look the same and are all premium rent. He probably gets a cut and the click bait titles pull in the customers.
I watch these videos for entertainment but I could never justify myself spending almost 4K on a one bedroom apartment, cramped like that with almost nothing going for it besides "it's in NYC." Practically anywhere else 4K a month would get you such a nice place.
It's also in one of the most expensive areas, in the most expensive part of NYC (Manhattan). 4k a month can get you 1500 sq ft easily with modern interiors n the outer boroughs. Maybe even for 2k-3k. And you aren't completely in bumfuck nowhere and have freedom to travel by many means of transportation depending on the need. That's the difference with the places the commenters talking about how cheap their place is. If you have to get in your car just to go to a convenience store that's 1000 ft away because of lacking infrastructure, like alot of americans, you know why so many people are obese.
Maybe the place you live is batshit boring?... Wages and opportunities aren't the same everywhere you go. People seem to lack brain cells to understand that. Sometimes people move to NYC for experience and then move out for a more comfortable living situation. Also 4k in NYC is such a exaggerated number... A normal place goes between 1-2k...

Watching these NYC apartments for rent has taught me something sad. You can turn a closet into an apartment and charge people whatever you want. These landlords need controlled somehow.

Every time I see these videos I feel claustrophobic, and I can't breathe! Living in Alaska, if I cannot see mountains and trees when I look outside my window, I would feel like I was in a prison. I only pay $700 a month for rent, with the lots of trees outside my windows. To me, to see nothing but buildings or allies, it's just horrible. It's like a prison.
I would be to embarrassed to invite anyone over to an apartment that small....those apartments are for people who have checked out of life, no family/friends...just work & back home kind of life😂

Plus the outside of these apartment windows are always extremely dirty, so it reduces the amount of light. We're on family land 20 minutes outside of a city in the central US. We have a garden and trees and room to grow... I feel very blessed.

It drives me crazy that they don't take the time (about 10-15 minutes) to flip the hinges on the refrigerator when the doors do not open towards the rest of the kitchen.

Can u actually have a universal fridge where u can move the hinges to the other side ?I've never herd or seen ad not all fridge would have the oppurtunity to do that
Put it this way if I did that to my fridge it would be going to the tip it wouldnt work anymore
@@Ebz42o probably more than 90% of fridges that the door swing from one side you can reverse the hinges. Some are much easier than others to do. Fun fact, a lot of clothes dryers you can reverse the hinges also.
The fact that we take a sink sprayer and good water pressure for granted here in Alabama.. big ups to the peeps who live in NYC.
If you live in Lowndes county you can't even count on having a sewer connection.

My son bought a house recently in a Seattle suburb built in the 2000s, 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths, 4 car garage, mountain views, gated community, 5 acres, monthy payment with hoa fee just over 4 thousand. NY prices are cRaZy

I know my son paid under $2,500 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apt he rented before he bought a house but I don't think he had an in unit washer and dryer in his apt. Watching the places Cash shows makes me feel rich in my 3 bedroom 2 bath townhouse, it's super spacious by NY standards. Garage, deck big sinks, laundry room, storage room, walk in closet. I'm living large and didn't know it. lol

Wow! Back in 1970 my friend had a very large one-bedroom penthouse apartment on Park Ave NYC the rent was six hundred dollars a month and I thought that was high!

Dude no setup needed you can grab any New Yorker and ask them if they want to rent a place that's an average affordable apartment. It's clean and fairly nice the only problem is that if she wants to have a roommate it's going to have to be a sofa bed.

Don't like the fire escape outside the bedroom window, someone could come down from above or up from below and break in.
I definitely would a alarm system by Simpli Safe to put on fire escape window and any other street level ones. It's connected to your phone, fire dept. , or police and you can set it up yourself. The channel by Trent and Allie use it in their home and the van they used to travel in.
Liked that you had a real person who was looking for an apartment. I hope she rented it although it was small for 2850. But as I've learned every apartment is small unless you want to pay big bucks. Charles was in a good mood riding on the sidewalk with no cares. See ya

At least it has an elevator at $3500/month. Imagine cutting the tile and flooring for that 1st apartment? The $2900/month 3rd floor studio wasn't bad but depending upon one's health--stairs are still stairs. But our Charles SAVES the day once again! That 2 bedroom at $3900.month is an opportunity even if it's at ground level. That unit is huge! I could even work with that second unit that is going for the same price. I might even like that one a bit better simply because it has the step landing.
I'd say for once I actually think all aren't bad. Surprising, right?
Totally agree, I think when it comes to the "window to nowhere" places (or fire escapes) that's perfect for the new york city crowd that loves to watch movies and play video games, so their focus is elsewhere.

Cash's apartments had glitzier finishes, but they were small! Charles' apartments were more conservative, but they were much larger and a much better value. No contest here!
I don't understand why the video is titled "Last Tenant Went Crazy Because Apt. So Small" not one of these units that he featured was described as "small." And there are other videos that have absolutely nothing to do with the mildly sensationalistic titles. So...why?... He must be creating these titles to snag people into watching. Why resort to this? I enjoy watching them and part of the appeal is the fact that he seems like a pretty straightforward person but I have to say, that these tactics (while you can say that's it's not a big deal), to me, somehow it undermines his whole effort.

I payed 800 for 3x that space for my last apartment 3 years ago. And it overlooked a pond. It is insane how expensive this closet is.

I actually think all the apartments were decent. I love the staircases in the 1st 2 places & the 1st even had an elevator!! That's a definite +. The 1st place was quirky. Not for everyone, especially with that super tight kitchen. But that 2nd, for a studio it was surprisingly large. You know I loved all of Charles's, even the 1 on the 1st floor. Super nice room sizes. I just can't figure out why there's different styles of wood floors in some of them. Charles is definitely starting to match Cash's comedic style!

Why do I live in Brazil and can't stop watching videos about apartments in New York?
So I live in Southern California which is so very different from New York City obviously, but I live on a first floor apartment on the street, like a walkup. I think technically the building I'm in is a 16-plex in a small apartment community (47 units). I live in the suburbs but it feels more like I'm living in a city when I don't open my front door to a hallway. Can't stand dealing with elevators and stairs all the time. Broke my leg last year and had trouble with the two steps I have to navigate here. I know all my neighbors and we foster community, know each other's pets, cars, etcetera. I'd like to imagine that's the appeal of a first-floor apartment, but I've never done it in a big big city. Had a studio in Northeast Los Angeles that was maybe a 28-plex and that was a quirky unit. I lived on the first floor but the building had a semi-basement so you'd still have to walk up about 12 steps to the hallway. We'd get possums in the yard, even smack dab in the middle of Silverlake. It's so cool seeing how people live in other places, these videos provide such a great insight into what people value for the life they want to live. How we prioritize amenities differently based on our own personal needs.
If I was looking to rent a place in NYC, the second of Charles' apartments was a home run! The last place would be okay for someone with kids. That in-between area could be the kids' play and homework area, and the smaller bedroom could hold bunk beds and enough clothes storage for two.
You’re the best Cash, your energy is contagious, and when you’re with Charles, it’s a blast, he can sell a air conditioner to someone who lives in the North Pole.

I was born and raised in N.Y.C, but have been in Los Angeles since 1974. Currently me and my sister are renting a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment for 2,100 and believe me it is the least expensive I found over 1 year ago. So obviously now I couldn't even find a studio or 1 bedroom in N.Y.C for $1,200 which is all I could afford alone.
A big plus for me is having a separate kitchen, even if small with appliances that just fit the space. A lot of apartments have appliances lined up in the living room or a hallway which are not really kitchens though that's what they are called.

Really reminds me my dorm at university. It was smaller as i only had a room and a shared toilet and shared living room. The fact that my only window is facing a close brick wall hasn’t help at all and I feel enclosed...after one session, I rather do the 2hrs daily transit than staying in that dorm.

Getting a stranger to view the studio apartment that is apartment shopping. The fridge doors you can just remove and relocate them on the other side to make it easier to use it. The third floor is hard to move in & out plus your groceries.
This makes me feel better about our 580sq ft one-bedroom unit for about $800 a month including utilities.

This makes me so thankful that we have a 4 bedroom 2 ba house and only pay around 1/4 of what these apartments are renting for. We also have an open field across from our house where the dogs can run and have fun!!

I rented a hotel in the Bronx 2005 and it was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in for $310 a night.. crazy how much it is to live in the ghettos of NYC I pay 3800 a year on my 1500 sf 3 bedroom 2 bath with a fenced-in yard and that 3800 also includes all my utilities. I can't imagine living in NYC ever in my life at those prices.

Affordable in Manhattan means location with COMPROMISE! Rent is money NOT going to your equity nor ownership while you save time, money, energy, and aggravation not needing a long commute nor a need for a car. With a micro apartment, you only sleep there and move around the city working, studying, and doing everything for planning and acting on a better future.
I would cry paying my rent every month if I had to pay those prices 😭

I first found you during 2020-2021 off videos where you were helping others apartment-hunt, and don't think I've seen you include that in videos in a long while lol. The apartments also looked pretty good given the prices and the areas (probably good potential for any couples), though I could swear that last one with the step landing we'd seen before... (or did Charles tour it on his channel?) Also enjoyed the chill vibes this had for a Sunday video.

Nice apartments, I could see myself living in all of them, especially the one with the steps into the living room area. For once, I'd forget about the studio because the rest were amazing. I live in St. Catharines, Ontario 🇨🇦 and my view is of the parking lot of a neighbouring high-rise, complete with screaming kids playing outside. By screaming, I'm not talking about typical kid's fun type screams, literal bloodcurdling screams from kids who behave, well, let's just say badly. I think they try to outdo each other with the screams.
I have the same screaming kids in my complex. I don't understand how the parents put up with it? Seems like a trend.
