It's been a while I have been on this channel but as I just washed my car few minutes ago it was a good transition ... Love your channel ! And my god you're a good singer too :) !
I was always led to believe (that means I picked it up from an obscure source that I now take as gospel) that warm water in the wash water dissolved the road salt and enabled it to leach deeper into the body work. In other words it was an absolute no no. A bit of guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also my shiny new Merc has been "Gardex-ed" and just to amuse you they gave me a chenille wash mitt as part of the detailing package they supply to new owners. I spent 30 minutes picking blue fluff off the badges and detail work...... They never told me that would happen. Great video btw
I feel as though you should have mentioned the use of a decent APC as a tfr for heavier road film. Surfex or Greenstar at 10:1 through the pump sprayer works great. Just a light covering around the lower half of the car bites through that nasty brown layer you get from longer commutes. By using a durable QD as your drying aid it works as a great sacrificial layer from your waxes or sealants against the APC. Love the content as always man.
Top tip you may already know . Ignition on, ignition off then hold the wiper stalk up the front wipers will park in the upright position so you can tilt them up and away from the screen. Keep up the good work and thank for a great channel.
Gave mine a good wash this morning and was out in it for most of the day, stayed dry too. Do like having a spotless car especially this time of year when everyone else’s tend to be filthy.
Loads of handy tips there Jon its one thing i like about the winter as chemicals dont dry quick butbthe cold is something else 😎. Hope you do more of your own songs for the backing music😎
Forensic Detailing Channel. I suffer from poor circulation in my fingers so, in addition to warm water. I wear a pair of neoprene gloves (buy the next size up to normal gloves). They work for me. As I have mentioned previously, on proper cold days I resort to waterless. I know that some will call for me to be burned at the stake, but it is a great way for many of us to clean our cars in the winter.
Neighbours think I’m senile when I wash my car in the winter but it’s for the exact reasons you say, To stop build up and to keep ‘er nice all year round
Love your passion! Your excited to polish it get it back to where it should be!!! Highlight of the video for me your music integrated with great clips! I for one appreciate your time and effort making these videos for our viewing pleasure! Thank you
Cleaned my car for the first time in over a month last weekend... MAN, I am NOT leaving it that long again! Prewash, Snow Foams etc didnt seem to touch it. All done now, I think next time will be the weekend they launch the TW stuff... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Using the foam as part of the actual contact wash stage just makes much more sense. There seems to be a thing of you can either use foam at the beginning, or ahead of the wash. Personally I use it once to dwell and then rinse to get rid of the bulk, and foam again for the wash - adds lube and just makes it easier. For the extra ease of cleaning I can live with the wasted product
You say dodgy production but I think that's what brings people back to your videos, not only is it great advice there's no 🐮💩 it's just good honest straight to the point advice.
I'm so glad you left that quick summary on the meguiars wheel cleaner. Amazing product 100%, but I couldn't justify the price tag. I got approximately 5 cleans out of it and paid £16 for the bottle, at over £3 a clean before I've even started on the rest of the car, it was a bit too much to justify. I'm now trying the wonder wheels alloy cleaner, pour that in a spray pressure bottle and off you go, using next to no product in comparison too👍🏼
Don’t wanna turn this into a music theme but great voice and tune mate. 👍👍 Thanks for the post. Only true detailers would watch this in December while it’s 0 degrees outside. 😂🤣
Great video as always, stumbled across it AFTER washing both our cars this morning, started at 09:00, my neighbours must love me haha .. On the hoover/vacuum thing though, and call me a geek if you like lol, but while its incorrect to say "grab the hoover" if you have a Dyson, it's perfectly acceptable to say you're going to "hoover out the car" even if you're using a Dyson, as hoover is also a verb lol
Hi love your work style. I’m from India I’ve been in mobile detailing eleven years, and your guitar playing coincided I play guitar too. Keep rock n roll
As much as like to clean my own car. During cold weather I use the soft cloth drive thru car wash and if it not to cold outside I will use apply some Turtle Wax Seal n Shine. I just do it about one a week. I will do a light polish in the Spring to get paint as corrected as I can.
Hey, Jon. Nice video as I begin to fret the salt, dirt and other road contamination that I know is around the corner. Enjoyed the music interlude, as well. Great job, mate.
They have hoses for the dyson. Just ordered one from Amazon for like $20. SHould be able to attach all detailing accessories to it as well, making it very effective for quick cleanings. Will report back on if it's good or not. Otherwise, the small carpet cleaner tool that comes with the dyson is the BEST for floor matts

Surprised not to see the Garage Therapy for the wheels. Got my full winter prep vid coming Friday on the Ranger and first time using the GT wheels shampoo. Very impressive.
all I use is surfex mainly. sometimes ill bust out an FR. I wont use /decon as a regular wash its just too strong, its a once or twice a year product only. I would use it if I was preping the wheels though for sure. GT have a cool wheel cleaner product though, the blue product.
Jon hadn’t realised you performed the songs! This is my new favourite channel (along with unplugged for the 330csi project)! Thanks for the effort and work I appreciate it!!
Thanks Jon! I suppose to say "Winter" in the UK is not what I can class as winter in Finland so some tips I use when considering to brave the weather (average -10 to -20 deg C) and where touching metal with water freezes on contact....no chance to use a snow foam lance ;) Ok 1. Warm or hot water and what I found was ONR to be splendid. Do 1 panel at a time. Dilute all products with hot water. Funny one here but put all towels inside your jacket so the body heat keeps them warm and any water on them does not freeze up as this will just scratch the paint as you use them again. Alternatively put the towels inside the car with the heater on but it's a pain to be in and out doing that. Do the door jams and dry extremely well, otherwise you will not get into your car in the morning...Frozen solid. Remember to dry the fuel cap as well. Its freezes solid and if you are low on fuel, your buggered. Apply whatever sealant your have to protect the paint directly to your cloth first of all, not the panel. It will freeze on the car panel and you are left with a blob of sealant! Finally oil the door locks. If your central locking does not work, you might find your lock is frozen inside the barrel but oil helps keep it from freezing. Yep Winter in the dark North is not pretty but it does not mean you car cant stay clean! Regards from Helsinki!
Hello Jon, Some great tips there. 👍 I live in Buxton in the Peak District, so winter starts early here. They have been chucking salt on the roads since early October and we can still be getting wintery conditions well into April. The look on my neighbours faces when I am washing the car when it is snowing. Lol. 😁
What pressure washer gun are you using? I’m fed up on having to use my Karcher with the extended piece on just to get the pressure as I clean the car in the drive between two houses, and these new builds don’t give you the most of room so I’m always bashing my knuckles on the brick 😭 so need the shorter gun but the pressure of the longer set up. Thanks

There are two possible answers to this question. Some of our british banknotes used to be printed in a village called Quidhampton in Wiltshire. The other answer is that it is derived from the latin phrase "Quid pro quo" & it goes back a few hundred years.
Hey Jon I just found a noodle mit in Aldis last week and it is actually a glove with 4 fingers and a thumb, quality looks OK but the way it fits is amazing. I bought 2 and actually might wear them as gloves aswell lol, keep your eyes out for them see what you think
Even though it was a balmy 48°F, almost 10°C over your side of the pond. It was pretty cool for detailing so I don't envy you or any one living north of Florida.
For us condemned to the jetwash, would a foam pump sprayer and a bucket of rinse water (bucket with a sealed lid) provide an acceptable performance for this winter wash process?
So did you use Bilt Hamber snow foam first, jet wash off, then spray Autoglym Polar Wash all over finishing off with the mitt and a bucket of warm water?
Hey Jon, I wanted to say that I really like your channel, I like your style, not trying to impress or be too serious. hi ya i get no issues with freezing products Laurent. contactless wash never removals all the dirt. aim of cleaning the car is to remove the dirt really. if you dont remove the dirt you also cant dry the car without scratching the paint really (blowing aside). you need contact to get the finer stuck on portion of the road film off, or just other stuck on dirt etc... thanks for the kind words appreciate it.
Hi Jon absolutely love your vids look forward to watching them as soon as you publish them , but I have a question with regard to this one, what ratio do you use the beh auto foam and the polar wash, thanks in advance.
Track Tyres - have you tried Yokohama AD08R's? I now run these on my Ford Puma track car and have been pleased with their all-round performance and good value.
No pain after ceramic coating + good solvant. All salt and stuff is gone after solvant+bh-autofoam layer prewash. I just love ceramic coatings when you have car which is used in winter.. :) So many winters wasted with waxes and frustration..
hey there, I generally wait a month for it to harden more but you dont have to. non OEM paintwork typically is soft and the biggest issue is introducing compound marring to it. Often you can cut freshly painted paint with a soft pad and a medium abrasive, and you can finish it out with a soft pad and finishing polish if required.. So my only tip is no real need to use agressive products if your just tidying it up... onyl realy to go in with hard pards and heavy products is if you are taking out sanding marks.
Great video John, tried searching for the wash mitt from the The WollyWormitt company but can't find it anywhere in the UK. can you please post a link of where you bought it from?
yer I was feeding back on it for Imran from in2detailing. I think its a product he should stock. If so I will let everyone know when its available. so it should be available soon mate.
if you google like sink caddy you can find them on amazon.. or see my top 10 detail hacks video its linked in the description of that video I think mate
Did a very deep cleanse on both our cars 2 weeks ago and finished off with Geyon Wet Coat. My method is to spray over the wet car. Gently rub it all over the car with a microfibre using just the weight of the cloth to evenly spread product. Takes less than 5mins to wizz over the outside like this. Then jetwash off. 2 Weeks later both cars are still really clean, the dirt just does not stick. So very good as a winter protectant.
Another top video 😎👍🏻 got a quick question for you tho, see link you put for the Dr Dirt replacement bottles, where is the bit for the 10% Forensic discount code? see I foolishly clicked on one of your links down below at 02:30, as I can't sleep, hence why I'm up watching your videos, thought was I'll see what else is new, see what I can learn, now I've ended up with a fair few items in my basket which has also led me to end up buying a new pressure washer 🙈😂😂😂 thanks in advance buddy 👍🏻

Great vid. Out of curiosity, In the removing buffers and swirls vid, didn't the M140 badge come off ? Did you put another back on or are these vids just out of sequence?
Hey John, could you make a comparison video about TFR’s? Autoglym multiwash TFR Autofinesse citrus power Koch green star Etc.... It would be much appreciated
John, great video. I'm a big fan of chenille wash mitts as well. My personal preference are the Autofiber Chenille mitts as they are flat and w/o a wrist cuff, as my preference is not to put my hand in. One question: Do you use your pressure washer in below freezing (0°C or 32°F) temperatures?
Thanks John, you just saved me half an hour per wash for the whole of winter. Is it just me or do you sing a lot like Roger Chapman from the band Family ? Can you give an opinion or a review on the “ Car Gods” range recently arrived in Halfords.
'Chanel' (sic) noodle mitts are great, but the weight of water pulls them off your wrist. I use mine as a pad. Why don't 'they' make noodle pads - i.e. not sponges with the silly mesh bit, but pads? I notice that yours has a big label on it! Use your considerable influence Jon? And maybe your mates at Pro Detailer?
I always wash my car that way but just foam a panel at a time in the summer. Always thought the 2 bucket wash method was pointless and no where near as good as foaming the car and useing 5 or 6 wash mits!!!
quality vid again buddy. quick question for you, do you know if there is a lance available for the in2detailing trigger guns? got mine on your recomendation

would be interesting if you could tint a coating and apply it to a light color panel and do a test on how quick it wears away.

So my only tip is no real need to use agressive products if your just tidying it up... onyl realy to go in with hard pards and heavy products is if you are taking out sanding marks.
@@ForensicDetailing Brilliant, thanks! So clay bars and fallout removers are still OK to use assuming I've left the paint to harden for a few months?
@@lewjamben yer it just should not have much fallout build up but for sure a quick decon with a milder clay or as required.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks once again. Keep up the good work!
@@lewjamben yes, those so many different clearcoat products or pain products there is no generic answer..
@@ForensicDetailing Yes I checked too. Jon, you haven't done a wash mitt review for a while. One coming soon?
Great job Jon! Loved the throwback song at the end :)
Be very interested to hear about your new tyres, Mark cup has just fitted them as well and he's about to review them.
Hi John, what's that overhang compartment for the detail brushes??
if you google like sink caddy you can find them on amazon.. or see my top 10 detail hacks video its linked in the description of that video I think mate
ive stopped using the hand gun pressure washer gun, i always get soaking wet by them time im done, in the winter i certainly would avoid using it
Where can we buy one of those new wash mitts?
hopefully from in2detailing soon sorry. not yet available. but ive fed back to imran its worth stocking.
👌🏼
Did i spot a new bonnet on the e46?
Yes a Silver one
yes mate see "forensic unplugged" channel
Lovely Jubbly, made me feel lazy, but it is raining outside yet again.
I see the E46 getting better in the background! 👍🏻
Only washed car the other month and already green foliage is appearing around roof rails and door surrounds any advice?
Amazing channel, and what an amazing guy.
Another top video 😎👍🏻 got a quick question for you tho, see link you put for the Dr Dirt replacement bottles, where is the bit for the 10% Forensic discount code? see I foolishly clicked on one of your links down below at 02:30, as I can't sleep, hence why I'm up watching your videos, thought was I'll see what else is new, see what I can learn, now I've ended up with a fair few items in my basket which has also led me to end up buying a new pressure washer 🙈😂😂😂 thanks in advance buddy 👍🏻
in checkout. the second stage is "review and payments" page. below the 3 payment options (below paypal option) is a link to "apply discount code" click there mate.
@@ForensicDetailing superb, thanks buddy 👍🏻
Great vid. Out of curiosity, In the removing buffers and swirls vid, didn't the M140 badge come off ? Did you put another back on or are these vids just out of sequence?
Hey John, could you make a comparison video about TFR’s?
Autoglym multiwash TFR
Autofinesse citrus power
Koch green star
Etc....
It would be much appreciated
its something we can look at for sure. might take a while to filter through
John, great video. I'm a big fan of chenille wash mitts as well. My personal preference are the Autofiber Chenille mitts as they are flat and w/o a wrist cuff, as my preference is not to put my hand in. One question: Do you use your pressure washer in below freezing (0°C or 32°F) temperatures?
if its below freezing or close to it no.. my main hose reel starts backing up at that point.
For winter washing is it OK to use the wash mit for the contact wash on top of the first snow foam layer? One rinse bucket and no 2nd wash bucket?
Chip Thomas no I would always wash the first lot of snow foam off then refoam
thanks
What's the thing called that fits to your bucket and where can I gave one from. Thanks
pls read comments below sorry lots are asking this. check detail haxs video for link
No worries thanks
Thanks John, you just saved me half an hour per wash for the whole of winter. Is it just me or do you sing a lot like Roger Chapman from the band Family ? Can you give an opinion or a review on the “ Car Gods” range recently arrived in Halfords.
I don't like the mitts with the thumb piece. I like to rotate my mitt and use both sides without taking it off my hand.
Very nice playing and singing. Enjoyed it.
Also, the dodgy editing, is not so dodgy ;-)
'Chanel' (sic) noodle mitts are great, but the weight of water pulls them off your wrist. I use mine as a pad. Why don't 'they' make noodle pads - i.e. not sponges with the silly mesh bit, but pads? I notice that yours has a big label on it! Use your considerable influence Jon? And maybe your mates at Pro Detailer?
they do make noodle pads Mel. kent car care sell them.. I think andy ay clean your ride sells them as well.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks very much for that Jon. I've ordered a couple.
Great tune. Where can you find that chenelle mitt with thumb?
I always wash my car that way but just foam a panel at a time in the summer. Always thought the 2 bucket wash method was pointless and no where near as good as foaming the car and useing 5 or 6 wash mits!!!
quality vid again buddy. quick question for you, do you know if there is a lance available for the in2detailing trigger guns? got mine on your recomendation
